Stylised applications. Not real applications. Who in their right mind would hold their fist out so that someone could take their time and counter. Karate when used properly is much quicker. The passive hand parries and the so called blocking move is actually a strike in most cases unless a weapon such as tonfa is carried. Which most people these days don't happen to have on them. Nice stuff but not very realistic.
So sorry. I am new to Karate and althought I have studied several other systems to a fairly high level I'm just beginning to understand the way Karate communicates it's ideas. There are many interpritations.
