@drewster1999 Yes, it does stink. When I filmed the RapidFire video, we thought Hasbro would release it. They decided not for economic reasons. You never know what will happen next, though. Thanks for your compliments.
@GregGaub my lazer tag gun makes this weird choo choo daooooo sound as soon as i turn it on(I can't be much more specific) and isnt working how do i fix it (I have used it for a while but this is the first time it has done this)
Is all the host information true for the nerf phoenix ltx? I'm sure the nerf guns don't have team 3, i've tried to access it and can't get to it, can you confirm?
@wigglessearch It's all true, but you're right that later Nerf guns don't have the hidden Team 3 for standalone games. It's still available for hosted LTTO games, though. If the tagger sees a 3 teams game being hosted, it will allow Team 3 to be selected.
@GregGaub Great thanks!!! I was wondering if it would be worth getting an LTTO gun, i thought I read somewhere that in fall 2012 a new system will be coming out.
So sad. Our kids got a set from grandparents for Christmas, but the trigger sticks on one. Hasbro said it's discontinued now, and no repair parts. They'll swap for a toy of equal value, except nothing really compares. Do you have any instructions on taking the gun apart? I couldn't get it to release along the top rail.
@xaminmo The screws most people miss are the tiny ones just under the dome. You'll need a long and small screwdriver to get those out and back in. A stuck trigger might be an easy fix. Gently remove the rubber button from the PCB that is behind the trigger, and clean both the button and the PCB with a q-tip in rubbing alcohol. Allow to try and reassemble. Test before you put the tagger back together. It could also just be some plastic flashing or needing some lube on the trigger pivot.
@GregGaub That was it, along with a dot of superglue inside the pin-sight. Gun was new, and silicone dome was clear. Trigger issue was mosty flashing. I think it's good, but I may need to lightly sand the hinge post. Thanks for your help!
@drewster1999 depends on the "tiger" guns you mean. anything made since 2004 and on and be used in the same battle. if you're not sure, then you'll need to be more specific.
@vegito129 Yes. It turns on every time you turn the gun on. You have to remember to disable it every time you turn it on if you want it disabled. There is no way to permanently turn it off without modifying the electronics inside the gun.
@3DSNewsAndReviews There is no indicator. You'll know when it starts doing strange things such as slow sounds, or resetting during a game, not the lights not flashing when you get hit and such. At that point, they're drained beyond use and should be replaced.
@NewyorkieDog Yeah. It's too bad. Prices will drop pretty quick when the new gear is released next fall, though. Watch for news during Toy Fair next Feb.
hey my tagger in the middle of a game restarts, but on its own and the gun operates in slow motion. and when i fire, during the process of the slow motion thing, it fires in bursts. what does it mean?
Hey Greg I got a question. I just recieved a pair of ltto taggers and the dome doesn't light up when it gets tagged like the Phoenix ltx ones do. Is this normal and if not is there a way to fix that?
@TheCarryForward The Deluxe and IRT-2X taggers did not have a hit light, and will not light up when tagged. There is a mod for adding them if you're good with a soldering iron and don't mind taking the taggers apart, but it hasn't been important enough for me to do, so I can't personally help with that. Google "LTTO Hit light mod" and you should find a few hits.
Hi Greg. Excellent videos. Thank you for all the helpful info. I would like a recommendation, though I realize that there's no perfect answer for all. I have two kids and me. Three of us would play. Should I purchase two Nerf packages (2 guns per), or the Phoenix used on eBay? Currently, I can get the two Nerf packages under $100. Our play will likely be very simple.
@OPESingers Depends on the age of the kids. If all they need is a "pew pew" system, then it doesn't really matter what you get. Cheap knockoff laser challenge from wal-mart would do the trick. If they're older than 10, and know how to aim, and know the difference between crap and quality, then get the Nerf sets. With two sets you can play 2 on 2 with an extra person (mom, friend, whatever). Great game play with 4 people. Don't overspend, though. $100 for two sets is good!
@DarkShroom Yes. Not the whole 86k views, I'm sure, but yes. I'm certain that any video you upload will go viral and make you the next =3... Until then, have fun shit-talking people who actually MAKE videos.
@GreGaub...what do you think about the Lazer Tag set from the mid 90s I guess, made by tiger and has a strap that goes around your forearm. They are all black with purple on top and speaker near the rear, hasred tip and lil red dome sensor on front...
@tnzdad They're ok, but they suffer from the fatal flaw of being too busy to get tagged while shooting, which is all the time since kids tend to pull the trigger constantly. I have some from that era, but I never play with them.
@TheNerdHerdNoobs They only come in the set you have as shown in this video. The Nerf set is the same base pistol, but it doesn't come with the attachments, which CANNOT be bought separately (except on ebay if someone is selling them separate). It would be really silly to switch to the Nerf version from what you have. It's the shotblast that makes it such a great tagger for littler kids, 'cus they don't have to aim to land hits with it (as long as they're at close range, anyway)
@GregGaub Thanks. Do you have any idea where I can get one of these complete versions less than 100$? Could there be a chance they could have one at my local Toys R Us? Or Wal-Mart? Or even a cheap online store?
@GregGaub...thanks for the info, well I figure out what to do with them...I have a few gas blow back airsoft guns that I never use either maybe we can play with those and keep the lazertag in box..JK! Maybe I'll just sell this set and get an older cheaper lazer tag set for us to mess with...
@tnzdad hehe, airsoft... nah, give him a Tippmann paintball gun and be done with it. ;-) But seriously... laser tag is best. ;-)
Anyway, the Phoenix set really is the best for the littler kids, but it still meets the higher standards of older enthusiast players. It's a great all around set. Can you get cheaper gear? Sure. But, you get what you pay for, and I hate seeing people rag on laser tag just 'cus they've only ever played with crap gear. You got a great deal on that set. I say use it! :)
@GregGaub..no I'm not a collector. I bought it, thinking me and my son can mess around with em one day, well he is only 4 now and still can't play. It's been sitting in my garage for years. New, sealed in box. Why are they going for so much $ now a days anyways? I figured these guns were a flop being on clearance and all...
@tnzdad 4? Aww, he can play. 4yos LOVE the shot blast. no aiming required, and it's really easy to do, and fun. Unless you want/need the money, I say break it out and play with the little guy!
They went on clearance because they came out right as the economy tanked. Expensive toys are a no-no in a declining economy, so they sold like $#!+cakes and went on clearance. That's why the RapidFire attachment never came out, and why the Nerf set dropped the attachments... so it could sell for less.
Got a set of these at walmart after Xmas sale a few yrs ago for $17.50! Still have it brand new in box. Seen they are going on eBay for $500 to $600...Crazy!
@tnzdad Yeah, I got a few sets on clearance as well. Most went to gifts or other players, though. Are you a collector? If not, you should probably try and get the profit on that set before it disappears. There are rumors of a new set coming out next year.
@mvvm17 Trust me, the scope isn't worth having. The design results in loss of too much field of view when lined up. It's better to use the iron sights along the top without the scope. The Shot Blast, however, is pretty useful. Not $400 useful, but useful.
@mvvm17 those are the scalper prices, since this set hasn't been made since 2008. Look for the Nerf version for $69. It doesn't have the shot blast or scope, but it's still a great tagger.
@mvvm17 What you're willing to pay on Ebay. Sometimes a ToysRUs store will have a couple sets of the Nerf version in stock. Same tagger, but no shotblast or scope. Also try thrift stores, craigslist, and stuff like that.
@MrYounglj If you see the original set at that price, you'd better buy it ASAP. That would be old stock and is probably already done by now. Most likely, though, you were seeing an old listing for a sold out product at the original price. The only ones in ToysRUs right now are the new sets with NO attachments at all. Just two pistols.
@mvvm17 No, because it's not a LASER, it's a focused IR beam. Though focused, the beam does diverge at a distance, and so the actual "hit" area can be up to three feet in diameter at long range. Note, however, that this is at 200+ feet, and even 1 degree aim variance will mean a missed shot, so you MUST aim to tag. At short range, you still have to aim, as the beam has not diverged much. Indoors, the signals bounce off walls, so it seems like you don't have to aim at all. Play Outdoors! :)
@Lachman0102 I haven't played with Light Strike, but I from what I read about them, I don't plan on getting any, at least not until they're on clearance, just to mess around with them. No, I like my taggers to shoot more than a hundred feet, and have SOME kind of cheat prevention. Not that there aren't uses for LightStrike, of course. Like little kids playing inside their parent's basement or something. ;-)
I'm trying to find a good deal for these guns, but I was thinking, is it really possible to tag someone's dome thing from around 50 feet? Because if i'm not running from the enemy, i'm probably going to be hiding and sniping the enemy. But the target, the dome, seems awfully small and impossible to hit from long ranges, unlike the newer laser tag guns that have the entire blaster as a target for opponents.
@jesscl107 Those newer guns have sensors on the gun. There's no way for "the whole gun" to be a sensor. Trust me, if you aim these, they'll land tags at 300 feet. If it couldn't get more than 50 feet, I wouldn't bother playing with them. Note that they used focused IR, just like the majority of all laser tag systems. The IR beam spreads enough to land tags at a great distance on a moving target as long as you're precisely aiming at them.
greg, i`m going crazy trying to compare prices and quality of rechargeable batteries and a charger for all those aa batteries i will be using. which brand chargers and batteries do you like? thanks!
@healthyamerican I can't personally recommend a brand, 'cus I still use alkalines for my taggers. The LTX should work fine with rechargeables, though, so any brand will do. Just remember to use a smart charger, whatever the brand you ultimately choose.
hi, greg. you seem to be the man to talk to. i have my phoenix guns on order, and cant wait. i`m wondering is there a base or headquarters that is compatable with these guns. so that you can destroy the other teams base, besides just shootong each other. thanks!
@healthyamerican none that I know of at this time, no. We usually use flags or something inanimate/dumb when we want to do scenario games rather than just blast each other away.
@GregGaub .... thats what i think we will use. we have these flashing rubber asteroids that the kids bought with thier tickets from the game room... i`m just getting into lazer tag after a few visits to the lazer kraze in cincinnati. i figure i will save money and my eyes by buying these. i hope they are as cool as they seem to be. i do wish they sounded less like toys when they are fired. perhaps there is a mod to make it sound more industrial. thanks again!
@healthyamerican There are no mods to change the sounds, which are hard-coded into the burn-once chips inside. It would be easier to create your own tag system from scratch than to mod these to have different sounds. You get used to it, though.
If you're especially interested in mil-sim laser tag, check out Miles Tag if you want to build your own guns, or AdventureSports or FragTag if you want to just buy the guns. Look to spend at least a grand per player, though.
If anyones interested for these on a budget im just selling them to get rid of them for a little money so I have two of these up on amazon for only 189.99 they are used and all of the attachments are included except for 1 scope that is missing. Anyway if your interested message me or reply to this comment! No haters please :)
@wille8353 check that all batteries are in the correct polarity and that they are all good, fresh batteries. One dead or backward battery will prevent it from working properly.
@wille8353 sounds like it's busted, then. I'd say to call Hasbro, but they don't have any replacements to send you anyway. Well, they might, but prolly not. At this point, you might as well open it up (CAREFULLY!) and look for any broken wires you can fix.
@wille8353 sorry, man. I'm no miracle worker, especially if it's not in my possession. Might as well call Hasbro. Maybe they have some to send for warranty claims. Couldn't hurt to try.
@wille8353 Yeah, but then I'd have a broken tagger that I probably couldn't fix. Unless a problem is fairly obvious, like a broken wire, I can't fix it. Have you called Hasbro?
@wille8353 So? Are you afraid or not allowed to use the phone? It's a toll free number. Ask your parents to do it, then. You're only 13... it's ok to contact a complete stranger on the Internet, and send him a package which will then have your return address on it, but it's not ok to call the customer service number of a toy company who made the toy that is broken? That's sad, dude. Really sad.
Which is better, Phoenix LTX or tiger team ops deluxe?! Plz plz reply as fast as posible;) and which one easier to use. And which one have the easiest buttons to push. I can't push some buttons on some guns cuz I have a disability.
@mrAndy45656 Being unable to press buttons will make any of them tricky to use, but I'd probably say the LTX 'cus there are way less buttons since it can't host games.
@Gtbomb1 that's the idea behind laser tag, yeah. No more "I got you!" followed by "Nuh-uh, you missed!" You can't deny or wipe off laser tag hits from the sensor.
@sh1shka606 Oh heck no! They play great without any LTTO around. They have a solo (free for all) mode, as well as team selection as shown in this video. All you have to do is pick your team and pull the trigger. The team selector basically disables friendly fire so you don't have to worry about accidentally tagging a team mate. The only reason for an LTTO tagger is if you want to run the more complex game type rather than just 10 or 25 tags until out.
@GregGaub Okay, that's good. Just deciding on what to buy. I'll probably just get the Phoenix LTX just because it's cheaper than the LTTO deluxe right now.
@Spearra I think so, but it's been so long since I tried it I can't be 100% sure. The game sucks, though. I'm glad they stopped making/packing it with the set.
If i have say 4 LTX taggers and 2 LTTO taggers, will the LTX taggers be able to play all of the gametypes the ltto has including hide and seek, and hunt the prey etc?
@danredda Yes. Phoenix LTX (Hasbro or Nerf) can play all LTTO games. They just can't host them. That's why I go into such detail with what the lights mean, as they are the only way to know what's going on aside from the sounds, in hosted games.
I am buying about 8 of these taggers and attaching 4x zoom scopes but i dont have to to know how big the rail is on the top? do you know how wide the rail is or how wide it may be?
this is by far the most informative phoenix ltx video i have seen
@GregGaub I have an LTTO tagger and thank's to your explanations i know how to host q gqme for LTX taggers. But how to get the score of everyone? (even the LTX)
@GregGaub You have to add up the lights. flashing = 1, solid = 2, much like the ammo and strength meters. LEDs on the strength side add 10 each to the rank.
@danredda It's bigger than a weaver rail. Make sure you get scopes that have nice LONG bolts for the rail clamps so that you can get it around the rail on this thing.
I have two my self, but no one else does :( but all of my scout troop love to play with mine and REALLY would like some but they don't sell anymore. My questions are: has the new NERF remakes made it to shelves and has there been anymore news about the UTO or Machine gun attachment?
@AceWarhawK6 Nothing official about anything, but someone recently reported seeing the LTX in stock at Amazon (like, ACTUAL Amazon, for the normal price) and at Toys R Us. Better hurry, though. The scalpers will be on top of those to resell at huge markups.
@randomstariffication If you mean "mega", then that's the LTTO Megatag that only Deluxes have. If you mean something else, spell it right or describe it better.
@randomstariffication search for my lazer tag web site and go to my equipment page. all the manuals are linked there. You might find some on Hasbro's web site, too.
You made me very courius about lazer tag. The sad thing is that its almost impossible to find a fair priced starter kid for two persons. Once they startet selling these things for 60-80$ a pair, now you cant find anything under 399$ for two guns...ridiclious!
@userbrad11 I'm saddened that anyone needs to ask such a question, but the answer is most definitely YES! That's the whole point of laser tag. The more people to play with and against, the more fun it is. One on One gets old REALLY fast, but the fun increases exponentially as the number of players increases.
Hello to you I know you are very busy, but I have a small question, technical, I'm still a novice in the field of phoenix LTX.ma question is if you could tell me the part number for the diode pulls the gun Phoenix LTX. Thank you in advance.
Francois my e-mail address is stephran@cablevision.qc.ca
Thanks for the review, good info all around... these are pretty cool taggers, but they seem pricey to me, 40 each (seeing as how retail is something like 79.99 for a 2 player set with the tv attachment) I think these could make great taggers in an arena love the shot blast for those players that up in your grill, just shotblast em'
Also, do you mean these units are no longer are being produced? is that what i am to under from your annotation?
@Jshaw71 As shown in this video, they are no longer in production. You can get the taggers without the shotblast, scope, or TV game for $50 a pair while supplies at ToysRUs last. You'll find them in the Nerf section. Amazon and ebay also have some sets, but you have to be quick and vigilant to get the deals.
@GregGaub Ok, thanks for the info, it's too bad that this tagger kinda failed... but like i said I loved the shotblast attachment, not sure if i want to play without one, but thanks for the info, i will heck online for the tagger, thanks for the super quick reply
@redbyrd64 how does it work? do you have to have a teams ops tagger to setup the game?(as i've heard) or can you start a team game with the LTX?(team1 and team2) please explain. i don't wnat to spend 100bucks on the TMB if i cant use it with my other LTX taggers. thanx.
@Brad5112 It's real easy to do. The LTTO tagger sets up the game. The LTX's join in one at a time. I believe GregGaub has a tutorial to join LTX in on his channel. He also has guide on his website I would practice doing this before a game though. You can also use the LTTO Deluxe and IRT-2X to setup the games.
Hey Greg, I saw the awesome Medic game you came up with on your LT site, I have a newbie question to ask, wat type of learning remote to buy? Do u have any recommendations? Sorry i know its sort of off topic.
@sammermaximus I use One4All remotes, but any brand will work so long as it has a LEARNING feature. Most "programmable" remotes only have pre-installed codes to choose from, so make sure the ability to learn a new code from another remote is specifically listed as a feature.
@LightningBlade963 If you don't see the scope and shotgun on the package, then it doesn't come with them. There are two packagings. One with, and one without.
It really depends. I don't live in USA, so the shipping almost killed me. Worse still I got the guns off Ebay. A set of four came up to 350 USD inclusive of shipping to Singapore. ( My home). It seems like toy s r us are stocking them now but without shotgun attachments. Also it seems like "Team 3" function doesn't work with the recent release.
sorry this probably sounds like a dumb question, but i don't understand all of the lingo in the video.
If i wanted to play with 3 players and bought two sets of these taggers, would you be able to make a game where all three can play at the same time? iIf so, how would you do that?
@RobinHoodTragic Yes. You'd want a "solo" game, which is just another word for free for all, or last man standing wins. One more person and you could set up a teams game. Or, if you had one really good player, you could set two against one using the team modes, one on team one, and the other two on team two. It's all really very easy to get the hang of.
Does the LTX work with the (Two-Player Lazer Tag Battle System Blaster Set)? They guns are the same colors at the LTX but is much smaller. Will they work in TEAM 1 & 2 mode? I would send yo ua link but YouTube won't let me.
@FamilyLeisure YES! It's the SAME SYSTEM. The one you're talking about was the original with the shotblast attachment. If you watched this video you're commenting on you would see me take it off. Except for the lack of a shot blast and a scope (and the crappy TV game), the "LTX" as you call it is the SAME gun. I can put a shot blast from an old one onto the new one, even. It's the SAME. Works in team mode and everything. No link necessary.
Greg thanks a million. I opened up my unit and didn't even do much everything was in place. Only issue causeing the lag was probably the wires ALL taped together. Thanks once again.
@familyleisure1 Yes. If they look the same, they are the same. Lazer Tag (with a Z) is the brand you're looking for. Also the Lazer Tag Team Ops work with these, but you have to play solo or host a team game on the LTTO tagger.
My son has 2 LTX guns which work very well! These guns cost a LOT! Do any cheaper guns work with the LTX in team mode? Looking for used guns if you have any.
Hey there! GregGaub! Thanks for spending time to make such an awesome video! You are the reason why my GF bought me a pair of these taggers.
However, I am having problems with one of them, they lag a lot when the trigger is pulled. The ammo count lights show depletion but the shots lag and sometimes come out in a burst of three or four shots. After a few seconds.
When the gun is out of ammo however, the trigger works fine cos the "out of ammo" buzzing sound emits on cue. Do u know wats wrong?
@sammermaximus This is a known issue with some units. There are details and photos on what to try to fix it that can be found on the LazerTagTeamOps Yahoo Group.
@MrThatsYe Did you already check the batteries and replace them with good ones? Opening the LTX isn't that hard. There are a couple screws under the dome that are hard to get at, and you want to tape the sliding panels to the side that the screws go into so that they stay in place. It's putting it back TOGETHER that's hard. Just go slow and make sure you don't pinch any wires.
@MrThatsYe Some do 2 some do 3. It varies but it can also depend on the voltage of your batteries. As long as it's not doing the slow-mo sound, it will work. If you've been playing a lot, you might consider switching the batteries soon. You don't want them to die in mid-game.
@GregGaub thanks all it needed was new batteries

OPESingers 3 months ago
@OPESingers Depends on the age of the kids. If all they need is a "pew pew" system, then it doesn't really matter what you get. Cheap knockoff laser challenge from wal-mart would do the trick. If they're older than 10, and know how to aim, and know the difference between crap and quality, then get the Nerf sets. With two sets you can play 2 on 2 with an extra person (mom, friend, whatever). Great game play with 4 people. Don't overspend, though. $100 for two sets is good!

tnzdad 4 months ago
@GreGaub...what do you think about the Lazer Tag set from the mid 90s I guess, made by tiger and has a strap that goes around your forearm. They are all black with purple on top and speaker near the rear, hasred tip and lil red dome sensor on front...
tnzdad 4 months ago
@tnzdad They're ok, but they suffer from the fatal flaw of being too busy to get tagged while shooting, which is all the time since kids tend to pull the trigger constantly. I have some from that era, but I never play with them.
GregGaub 4 months ago
If I buy the Nerf version, can I still buy the scope and shot blast separately and attach them? Or can they not be attached to the Nerf version?
TheNerdHerdNoobs 4 months ago
@TheNerdHerdNoobs They only come in the set you have as shown in this video. The Nerf set is the same base pistol, but it doesn't come with the attachments, which CANNOT be bought separately (except on ebay if someone is selling them separate). It would be really silly to switch to the Nerf version from what you have. It's the shotblast that makes it such a great tagger for littler kids, 'cus they don't have to aim to land hits with it (as long as they're at close range, anyway)
GregGaub 4 months ago
@GregGaub Thanks. Do you have any idea where I can get one of these complete versions less than 100$? Could there be a chance they could have one at my local Toys R Us? Or Wal-Mart? Or even a cheap online store?
TheNerdHerdNoobs 4 months ago
@GregGaub...thanks for the info, well I figure out what to do with them...I have a few gas blow back airsoft guns that I never use either maybe we can play with those and keep the lazertag in box..JK! Maybe I'll just sell this set and get an older cheaper lazer tag set for us to mess with...
tnzdad 4 months ago
@tnzdad hehe, airsoft... nah, give him a Tippmann paintball gun and be done with it. ;-) But seriously... laser tag is best. ;-)
Anyway, the Phoenix set really is the best for the littler kids, but it still meets the higher standards of older enthusiast players. It's a great all around set. Can you get cheaper gear? Sure. But, you get what you pay for, and I hate seeing people rag on laser tag just 'cus they've only ever played with crap gear. You got a great deal on that set. I say use it! :)
GregGaub 4 months ago
@GregGaub..no I'm not a collector. I bought it, thinking me and my son can mess around with em one day, well he is only 4 now and still can't play. It's been sitting in my garage for years. New, sealed in box. Why are they going for so much $ now a days anyways? I figured these guns were a flop being on clearance and all...
tnzdad 4 months ago
GregGaub 4 months ago
Got a set of these at walmart after Xmas sale a few yrs ago for $17.50! Still have it brand new in box. Seen they are going on eBay for $500 to $600...Crazy!
tnzdad 4 months ago
@tnzdad Yeah, I got a few sets on clearance as well. Most went to gifts or other players, though. Are you a collector? If not, you should probably try and get the profit on that set before it disappears. There are rumors of a new set coming out next year.
GregGaub 4 months ago
Ah I wanted the scope for aiming
mvvm17 4 months ago
@mvvm17 Trust me, the scope isn't worth having. The design results in loss of too much field of view when lined up. It's better to use the iron sights along the top without the scope. The Shot Blast, however, is pretty useful. Not $400 useful, but useful.
GregGaub 4 months ago
on amazon it is 405 dollars !
mvvm17 4 months ago
@mvvm17 those are the scalper prices, since this set hasn't been made since 2008. Look for the Nerf version for $69. It doesn't have the shot blast or scope, but it's still a great tagger.
GregGaub 4 months ago
How much does it cost and where do you get it besides amazon
mvvm17 5 months ago
@mvvm17 What you're willing to pay on Ebay. Sometimes a ToysRUs store will have a couple sets of the Nerf version in stock. Same tagger, but no shotblast or scope. Also try thrift stores, craigslist, and stuff like that.
GregGaub 5 months ago
@mvvm17 toys r us for $70 it come with two and all of the attachments
MrYounglj 5 months ago
@MrYounglj If you see the original set at that price, you'd better buy it ASAP. That would be old stock and is probably already done by now. Most likely, though, you were seeing an old listing for a sold out product at the original price. The only ones in ToysRUs right now are the new sets with NO attachments at all. Just two pistols.
GregGaub 4 months ago
isn't it very hard to shoot the gun from far away cause it is a small gun. please answer
mvvm17 5 months ago
@mvvm17 No, because it's not a LASER, it's a focused IR beam. Though focused, the beam does diverge at a distance, and so the actual "hit" area can be up to three feet in diameter at long range. Note, however, that this is at 200+ feet, and even 1 degree aim variance will mean a missed shot, so you MUST aim to tag. At short range, you still have to aim, as the beam has not diverged much. Indoors, the signals bounce off walls, so it seems like you don't have to aim at all. Play Outdoors! :)
GregGaub 5 months ago
@GregGaub Thanks.

Lachman0102 6 months ago
@Lachman0102 I haven't played with Light Strike, but I from what I read about them, I don't plan on getting any, at least not until they're on clearance, just to mess around with them. No, I like my taggers to shoot more than a hundred feet, and have SOME kind of cheat prevention. Not that there aren't uses for LightStrike, of course. Like little kids playing inside their parent's basement or something. ;-)
GregGaub 6 months ago
i think team ops lazer tag is better
kllierbrandon 6 months ago
I'm trying to find a good deal for these guns, but I was thinking, is it really possible to tag someone's dome thing from around 50 feet? Because if i'm not running from the enemy, i'm probably going to be hiding and sniping the enemy. But the target, the dome, seems awfully small and impossible to hit from long ranges, unlike the newer laser tag guns that have the entire blaster as a target for opponents.
jesscl107 6 months ago
@jesscl107 Those newer guns have sensors on the gun. There's no way for "the whole gun" to be a sensor. Trust me, if you aim these, they'll land tags at 300 feet. If it couldn't get more than 50 feet, I wouldn't bother playing with them. Note that they used focused IR, just like the majority of all laser tag systems. The IR beam spreads enough to land tags at a great distance on a moving target as long as you're precisely aiming at them.

greg, i`m going crazy trying to compare prices and quality of rechargeable batteries and a charger for all those aa batteries i will be using. which brand chargers and batteries do you like? thanks!
healthyamerican 6 months ago
@healthyamerican I can't personally recommend a brand, 'cus I still use alkalines for my taggers. The LTX should work fine with rechargeables, though, so any brand will do. Just remember to use a smart charger, whatever the brand you ultimately choose.
GregGaub 6 months ago
hi, greg. you seem to be the man to talk to. i have my phoenix guns on order, and cant wait. i`m wondering is there a base or headquarters that is compatable with these guns. so that you can destroy the other teams base, besides just shootong each other. thanks!
healthyamerican 6 months ago
@healthyamerican none that I know of at this time, no. We usually use flags or something inanimate/dumb when we want to do scenario games rather than just blast each other away.
GregGaub 6 months ago
@GregGaub .... thats what i think we will use. we have these flashing rubber asteroids that the kids bought with thier tickets from the game room... i`m just getting into lazer tag after a few visits to the lazer kraze in cincinnati. i figure i will save money and my eyes by buying these. i hope they are as cool as they seem to be. i do wish they sounded less like toys when they are fired. perhaps there is a mod to make it sound more industrial. thanks again!
healthyamerican 6 months ago
@healthyamerican There are no mods to change the sounds, which are hard-coded into the burn-once chips inside. It would be easier to create your own tag system from scratch than to mod these to have different sounds. You get used to it, though.
If you're especially interested in mil-sim laser tag, check out Miles Tag if you want to build your own guns, or AdventureSports or FragTag if you want to just buy the guns. Look to spend at least a grand per player, though.
GregGaub 6 months ago

@wille8353 sounds like it's busted, then. I'd say to call Hasbro, but they don't have any replacements to send you anyway. Well, they might, but prolly not. At this point, you might as well open it up (CAREFULLY!) and look for any broken wires you can fix.

wille8353 7 months ago
@wille8353 So? Are you afraid or not allowed to use the phone? It's a toll free number. Ask your parents to do it, then. @Gtbomb1 that's the idea behind laser tag, yeah. No more "I got you!" followed by "Nuh-uh, you missed!" You can't deny or wipe off laser tag hits from the sensor.
GregGaub 8 months ago
So you have to have a Laser Tag Team Ops weapon to play with these weapons?
sh1shka606 8 months ago
@sh1shka606 Oh heck no! They play great without any LTTO around. They have a solo (free for all) mode, as well as team selection as shown in this video. All you have to do is pick your team and pull the trigger. The team selector basically disables friendly fire so you don't have to worry about accidentally tagging a team mate. The only reason for an LTTO tagger is if you want to run the more complex game type rather than just 10 or 25 tags until out.
GregGaub 8 months ago
@GregGaub Okay, that's good. Just deciding on what to buy. I'll probably just get the Phoenix LTX just because it's cheaper than the LTTO deluxe right now.
sh1shka606 8 months ago

link9063 10 months ago
@link9063 You don't. LTX can't host. But with only two, it's pointless anyway, since it's always 1st and 2nd place.

danredda 10 months ago
@danredda Yes. Phoenix LTX (Hasbro or Nerf) can play all LTTO games. They just can't host them. That's why I go into such detail with what the lights mean, as they are the only way to know what's going on aside from the sounds, in hosted games.

@sammermaximus I use One4All remotes, but any brand will work so long as it has a LEARNING feature. Most "programmable" remotes only have pre-installed codes to choose from, so make sure the ability to learn a new code from another remote is specifically listed as a feature.

RobinHoodTragic 1 year ago
@RobinHoodTragic Yes. You'd want a "solo" game, which is just another word for free for all, or last man standing wins. One more person and you could set up a teams game. Or, if you had one really good player, you could set two against one using the team modes, one on team one, and the other two on team two. It's all really very easy to get the hang of.
GregGaub 1 year ago
Does the LTX work with the (Two-Player Lazer Tag Battle System Blaster Set)? They guns are the same colors at the LTX but is much smaller. Will they work in TEAM 1 & 2 mode? I would send yo ua link but YouTube won't let me.
FamilyLeisure 1 year ago
@FamilyLeisure YES! It's the SAME SYSTEM. The one you're talking about was the original with the shotblast attachment. If you watched this video you're commenting on you would see me take it off. Except for the lack of a shot blast and a scope (and the crappy TV game), the "LTX" as you call it is the SAME gun. I can put a shot blast from an old one onto the new one, even. It's the SAME. Works in team mode and everything. No link necessary.

Hey there!
