  • Simply amazing.

  • WHAT U THINK OF THE LOCKING TUNERS, I THINK THEY ARE OVER RATED LIKE, MINE ARE A PAIN TO STAY IN TUNE, I DO THE HIGH E THEN A AND D, AS THEN IT IS OK, IF I GO THE OTHER WAY, THE B AND G GO OUT OF TUNE AFTER DOING THE A, BUT THEY STAY IN TUNE ONCE THEY HAVE BEEN SET LIKE

  • I KNOW KNOPLER USED TEXAS SPECIALS, BUT LINDY FRALIN TOLD ME HE USED A LOWER OUT PUT TEXAS SPECIAL, SO KIND OF THE SAME AS THE SCNs IN A SENSE, PLUS HE ALWAYS USED THE BRIDGE AND MIDDLE PICKUP TOGETHER FOR SULTAN OF SWING

  • WHAT DO U THINK OF THE PICKUPS IN THE USA DELUXE STRAT ? MINE IS 2006 AND HAS THE SCN NOISELESS IN IT, THEY SOUND GOOD, BUT NOT AS SPARKLEE AS MY DUNCANS IN MY OTHER USA STRAT, THEY SOUND BETTER WHEN THEY ARE SET REALLY HIGH UP, BUT THAT MAKES FINGER PICKING A PAIN, WHICH IS WHAT I DO, DID U KEEP THE ORIGINAL PICKUPS OR HAVE U CHANGED YOURS, KEEPING MINE AS THEY HAVE A FULLER TONE, LIKE A THICKER SOUND, LOVE THE S1 SWITCHING LIKE, GREAT FOR MORE TONES ECT

  • WHAT KIND OF STRAT IS THAT ? I just got another USA one, it is a 2006 deluxe in natural, with the SCN noiseless pups, great axe like, got a 1995 ltd blue strat with matching head-stock as well, which is 50th anniversary USA model, my deluxe has the 60s anniversary metal plate on back of head-stock to, would not get another MIM model now I have been spoiled, they are made well, but USA ones are better

  • sultans of swing do pará rsrsr

  • Can I Meet you?

  • very impressive.. i usually play sultans with such embellishments from that live version (tho yours are much more spot on).. that version is epic.

  • what amp are you using?? i love your guitar tone, its nice and clear, kind of what i want in my next amp :)

  • too much reverb ... but thats just my opinion nice playing dude :)

  • Its really nice! :) I like it, put it to facebook and like it again :D

  • Thats wicked man, good job!

  • very niceplaying but a little to clean need a little more gutsme thinks then would be perfect

  • can you play the wembley arena's version of SOS..??

  • Check out my channel for Pink Floyd, Dire Straits and Our Originals! Awesome Stuff!!!! We appreciate comments!!!!

  • Only heard this version 2 or 3 times. I've played in pro cover bands for years. I've played lead guitar on original version of this song many times. This version has much more subtle notes and riffs. I love it and you Nailed It!

  • [from brazil] u've got feeling, man!

  • Superb! - Cracking video - comments appreciated on my live version

  • dany4kin, I like your playing but I do not like your wrist angle. it's not cool for young fella to wear his guitar higher, but it seems that your low-slung strat might be putting a strain on your wrist. think about it- carpal tunnel is a bad injury to get.

  • @tdwon I really appreciate your comment. Funnily enough, although I've never had it officially diagnosed I did go through a period of time where I would get pins and needles in my hand when playing, I suspect carpel tunnel like you say. My style has evolved slightly, maybe even subconsciously, so I do wear the guitar higher these days and don't have as many problems. It's certainly not a fashion thing! I will take note of your comment for future playing though; again, thank you.

  • Respect, I do not know anyone playing the clawhammer style like you, nice music. Tanks and greetings from Switzerland.

  • hahah wow...i would give my left nut to play like you do...but i already gave both to my fiance..DAMN!

  • there is no singing, the singer is almost talking...

    but your playing is great...

  • BASURAAAAAAAAAAA

  • i love that version of the song. you pretty much nailed it.

  • Good effort!

  • awesome

  • thanks! nice! fm japan.

  • Very good! Love your ability to fingerpick!

  • where did you find this tab

  • Music is for the ears, not the eyes...You dont look at music u listen to it,no tabs use your ear and play

  • missing rock spirit ...

please try the same with the wembley arena's version in 1985...

  • @stratholme

It's difficult with a practice amp and a pc microphone to get that 'Wembley' effect..... I will try harder next time....

  • @stratholme Sultans of Swing is not a rock song but a blues one...

  • great cover.you can try to find a better tone on your amp.respect:)

  • Why, this souns ok to me

  • I don't sing as well as I play guitar. And that's really saying something...!

  • it's amazing how some people have no sense of respect. You are a guitarist. and by the way if you listen to interviews of Mark Knofler, he hated singing. So Dany, dont listen to stupid haters, they just jealous of ur USa strat, and ur talent.

  • @dany4kin

u did fine, if you cant sing you cant sing, kids just a weirdo

  • That was great pal

  • Great Finger control bro, man you would make Mark proud with that for sure.

  • Well done! Congratulations :-) Little John.

  • awesome......

  • fantastic!

  • Wow dude fuckin props

  • Excelente cover tio... sigue asi... !

  • never be able to get that kind of control, atleast with finger picking, ive done it picking and its not to hard, well done

  • brilliance..... absolute brilliance!!! the technique is perfect and the solo almost made me cry... xD keep that shit up man!!

  • Well Done nailed it :)

  • me gusta

  • Muchas gracias

  • well done!, amazing control

  • Good Job. Mark Knopfler is deceptively hard to cover...consider how comparatively few covers of his stuff is on you tube.

  • Yeah, I'm trying to cover him past the 1st solo and I'm not diong the chords from the 2nd guitar. Mark knopflers guitar is hard enough for me :P.

  • @cornelisX That's probably a good way to start, but keep the chords in the back of your mind for the future, as you get more used to playing the song, you'll be able to slot in the rhythm stuff too.

  • I learned the chords too a while ago. When I finish the song. I will learn it together :D

    thanks for the tip!

  • btw your video is very good you sound just like mark knopfler even the finger picking is the same.

  • @cornelisX thank you, it is devotion bordering on obsession.... :)

  • Yeah nice one mate

  • Greate / Охуительно:)

  • Wow I love it, you're simply a wonderful player.

    Good job mate!

  • Very very very.. good

I listened every second with my full attention. I even didn't hear a crying baby who lies next to me.

    Congrats.

  • Thanks very much. Child neglect aside, your comments are very kind...

  • Only start to play this, when you test a guitar in the guitarshop. I would like to see the face of the salesman! Amazing! Nuff respect.

  • That's where we all do it for, isn't it?

  • the best cover ever amazing

  • Que bestia!.... Well done

  • amazing cover, good work.. i might as well learn this song after im finish learning black dog :D

  • awesome cover lossen up the clawhammer a little let your note ring

  • Simply Amazing....

  • this is so incredible, you make it look effortless haha

  • A bit of delay with reverb should make even better sound.

  • r912scott i have a gibson les paul and sound better than that guitar.before i had one like that and sound well i think that they are the two best guitar´s sounds

  • did u use tabs for this ?

  • No, a free trial of a program called Amazing Slow Downer and a lot of patience... It's still out there check it out.

  • BRAVO!

  • which amp did you use? any efects?

    you plays very good.

  • Thanks, it's a Marshall 30W amp, no effects, just a TINY bit of overdrive and some reverb.

Bit bassy on this one, try to get the high end heard too.

  • awesome cover mate

  • i've got the fender 50's clasic 2 tone really simalar to yours. am learning this cover to . brillant cover m8 keep it up

  • Don't, for goodness sake, play it the same why I do......!!! There are more efficient ways to play this! I made it much harder for myself. I have a couple of technique vids too if you want to have a look.

  • i'm learning it kinda the same i've only being playin for a year so it takin lots of practice. i'm very impressed in the way you play . how long have you been playin for

  • I'm guessing at about 10-12 years? I really haven't made much progress in that time however! Just make sure that if you find something on this song difficult to play, make sure there isn't an easier way to play it that's different to me. Make it as easy as possible for yourself. Good luck, took me about a year! Check out 'Amazing Slow Downer' it certainly helped me.

  • yamaha fender who cares ..... really well done mate great cover !!!

  • Thank you. Japanese versus American I guess!

  • it looks like a yamaha pacifaca( i got that guitar) is it that guitar? great playing

  • Look at the head of the guitar....it's a Fender Stratocaster

  • sorry oke, but my guitarhead got the same shape, and the writing looks much like it

  • that's most likely because the Stratocaster model is one of the most popular models to copy but no need to say sorry haha lets just enjoy the video by this great musician

  • inderdaad:P

  • Thank you, you're right it is a Deluxe Strat.

  • The pickguard of the yamaha pacifica is different on the bridge pickup area. This one is a strato, but those pots seem strange for a Strat Deluxe...

  • Thank you, it is a deluxe Strat. My second favourite guitar!

  • amazing

  • Great cover!

  • hey dude, i love this cover, have you got tabs, id love to learn it!

  • No tabs I'm afraid. Check out Amazing Slow Downer, that's how I did it.... slow process but worth it....

  • I love this song, I listen to it and play mini air guitar while i drive :p

Probably not too safe, but fun nonetheless >_>

    Anywho, nice job :)

  • Thank you. Now get a REAL guitar and play it.....! not while driving though...

  • awesome...!

    standard tunig?

  • Thanks, yep, standard tuning.

  • do you have tabs?

if you do send me em please

by the way beautiful cover =]

  • Hi, thanks.

Sorry no tabs, learnt by ear using Amazing Slow Downer, google it. Nice bit of software...

  • 1. very nice playing!

    2. Awesome version of the song (is it the one from the second CD of the "Sultans Of Swing - Best Of Limited Edition"?

    3. Beautiful guitar! American Deluxe are great instruments!

  • To question 2: Yes you got it in one. It's not EXACTLY note for note, but that was what I was aiming for! Amazing CD that one.

  • What other gear are you using? Amp, Effects, ... not that you need much gear for Sultans, apart from a good old Strat! ;-)

  • This was through a Marshall 30w amp. No other gear really although I'm looking at a compression pedal. Now got a Peavey PAG120 amp although I think the Marshall sounds better.

  • lolz i has the same guitar as him...well not sure the brand. mine is ion but its the exact same layout. sunburst strat :D

  • at the end I couldn't hear the song sultans of swing in it but it was really good ;)

  • the begging is whack the rest is ok

  • Superb cover :D

  • very good playing, u shud go in2 music for a career

  • nice man that was awsome ur even doing the techniek that mark knopfler does 6/5 =]

  • WOW.. 5 Stars..

  • very nice!

  • Very nice playing! Keep on!

    -Mark is the Greatest!!

  • nice job .

  • eres un killer tio

  • Excellent job! I like both your technique and your sound. It's awesome ^^

  • that was fantastic... great fingerstyle

  • Great cover, love the sound of the guitar....

P.S does anyone know what sort of grade this would be?

  • i need to upload more vids, and i suck, you're so much better o_o

  • NICE!!!!

  • its good, but would sound better on the pickup that mark uses (halfway one) - two clicks back

  • I agree. It's a bit bassy in this position, but on the other hand, sounds a bit tinny in the postion you suggest. I've now tweaked the amp a bit to get a nice sound in the middle pickup position. It's like an evolution I guess, you just keep tweaking till you get a nice sound. The microphone changes the sound a bit too unfortunately.

  • what kind of amp is it? because I find that different amps will make it sound better on different pickup positions. I have a fender hot rod deluxe and personally it sounds wayyyy better on the 3rd position. I get a much deeper tone there instead of where you are playing it. But, i mean it sounds amazing anyway- just a little too soft in my opinion. It also could have to do with the fact that you don't have your amp turned up to loud in the vid

  • This was through a 30w Marshall, I have a Peavey valve amp now which I'm still trying to find my way around. It's wasn't that loud, but any louder and the rubbish microphone would start to distort. Kind of an unhappy balance...

  • Freaking genius. I wish I had a little of your talent!

  • Don't sell yourself short, seeing your vids you already have the beginnings of an awesome guitarist mate. Good dexterity in your hands for one, keep it up.

  • love it man! you really made it your own song..

  • Just to clarify that...I mean the "Guitar" sounds shit not the player.....Sounds a bit too "Chorusy". Is this being played through a chorus pedal ? just sounds wrong.

  • You really, REALLY think I'm going to answer that?

  • Hehe, great sound. Youre close to Marks :D

  • I wish people would STOP doin this.

Fuck off you freeloading nob......Its not Dire straits sultans of swing, its you tryin to get hits by using their titles. Pisses me off summat chronic wen people title their own crap with famous artists titles and headings. By the way the guitar sounds shit....better than what i could do, but shit non the less. If your going to do this sort of thing then please do so without using the artists titles as your main headings just to get hits.

  • Definition of 'COVER' (it's in the title bud)by Wikipedia.... "In its current use, it can sometimes have a pejorative meaning — implying that the original recording should be regarded as the definitive version, usually in the sense of an "authentic" rendition, and all others are merely lesser competitors, alternatives or tributes (no matter how popular)." Not quite sure what you're so unhappy about. A bloke in his bedroom in a T-shirt doesn't look like Dire Straits in their best days does it?

  • very good cover....

but to much tones in the solos.....the feeling is lost!

  • NICE.

  • i like that your playing it your own way, but i like the original better. just my opinion.

    nice work :)

  • Songs like this are so full of tone and feel that they make bands like metallica sound sleepy

  • after watching this , you lose the context and style of the song, why is that, maybe write your own stuff, not ruin others

  • That's a little harsh. This IS an attempt at a version that Knopfler has done, I don't pretend it's mine so i'm not really sure what your criticism is, bearing in mind your carbon copy of Money for Nothing with your helpful harmonics 'lesson'. I'm not sure what you're getting at? And I have another video with improvised i.e. ONE OFF solo's of Sultans of Swing, so don't talk to me about writing my own stuff skip.

  • i do appolagise that was a little harsh, i just cant get any comments at all on my stuff, so im taking it out on others, i will have a go at this and see how it goes, keep playing and please comment on some of my stuff , good or bad.
