@doodydude234 No we're not, well not all of us at least, mind you this was an ad from 1984, although White Australian policy was abolished, did the people of Australia at the time expect ethnic people to advertise an American fast food chain? Times have changed, but you gotta remember the era this commercial came out.
im always blown away by how cheap this food is...but then i think how much tax would be added later? having gst added means i dont have to think for myself...the government does it for me
dirty stinking atrificial slimey greasy msg tainted cholesterolised preservative filled chicken, that covered in dust from that dirty Bidvest joint in clarinda Rd Oakleigh Vic that hasnt been cleaned for the best half of 20 years...yuk
Friday night, Brisbane, 1975, "Cook's night off", let's get Kentucky fried, bucket, really big juicy pieces, sit with the family and watch "Startsky and Hutch"...Wake up to the "Saturday Show"...
Just for fun, I would like to point out that the year that you are talking about is the same year that "The Jeffersons" made its debut and actress Drew Barrymore was born. What do you make of those two realities?
Coke at KFC??? Looks odd... There must have been a big deal, when KFC Qld switched to Pepsi (possibly around Expo?)...
KFC Queensland turns 40 in 2009, and is a lot more parochial than down south (not just to the unified ownership of all Queensland stores), to the point that KFC have two websites in Australia, one national, one Queensland specific.
@ihaveairlockers Actually, Collins Food Group hold the master franchise for KFC in Queensland only (kfcqld com au). Jack Cowin (owner of Hungry Jack's) has the franchise for all of WA, SA and NT. Yum! Brands have the rest.
Yes, you are right. I made a mistake and i should have known better.
I was half right, or something.... hehe
I was probably drunk and a little stupid when i wrote that comment.
yeah, Jack Cowin owns HJ's. They must be so mad they still can't get the "mother" name in australia... There was one at sydney airport, but it was renamed...
The fact that you are used to the name Burger King leads me to believe that you are originally from the United States. Did you emmigrate to Australia? I would be very interested in learning about your situation!
Thank you for the information about Burger King. I have never been to Norway, but I would love to go someday. I found Australia to be a very interesting experience and I hope that you liked it too. And by the way, what does CFI stand for?
That is some very interesting information! Do you know is Sizzler is still in business in Australia? I live in New Jersey, and I used to know where there were three different branches of that restaurant. They have all since closed down. Probably too much competition from other restaurants that were fancier and more modern. In any event, I would be very interested in whether there are still any of them anywhere.
@ihaveairlockers - Collins Foods in Queensland oversees the international Sizzler operation in the USA, Puerto Rico, South-East Asia, Dubai UAE and of course, Australia. Sizzler now only operates in the Australian states of Queensland, Western Australia and three restaurants in Sydney New South Wales.
@Smartboy8877 - @ihaveairlockers - . In the eighties and early nineties, there were Sizzler restaurants throughout country NSW, throughout Melbourne Victoria and one in Darwin, Northern Territory. These were operated on a franchisee basis which proved difficult and due to some management issue were closed down. I am not sure whether the sole New Zealand Sizzler restaurant still exists in Rotorua.
@ihaveairlockers - In OZ, Sizzler operates on an all you can eat basis, with a limited menu. The salad bar is by no means as extensive as in the US - no chicken wings or pizza, but everything else is pretty much the same as in US outlets which I have dined at a number of times when overseas. In Dubai, there is no dessert bar whatsover, and no pasta as well.
a fillet burger now costs $4.95. the combo here is much cheaper. i think it is 6.95 where i work

Did you have Chicken Littles? This was a little chicken fillet on a dinner roll. It had mayonnaise if you wanted it on it.

That was interesting to watch. I didn't remember Chicken Fillet Burgers being available way back then.

I was born in 84...and I love KFC...I wish I knew how it tasted 20/30 years ago...
was it really different??
MarcoWriedt 2 years ago
@MarcoWriedt Most the people do grew up on a staple diet of KFC back in the early 1980's would most likely be dead.
Izan508 2 years ago
Yes... bring it back indeed. Modern-day KFC's so-called O.R has nothing on the Original Recipe of old ;)
TheColonelsKitchen 2 years ago
oh bring back the original kentucky fried chicken. i'd pay that price anyyday compared to today's price robbery.
Bunney79 2 years ago
Not to mention they tasted a lot better then too, so much for the Colonel's "original" recipe.
Watching videos like this is like watching an era that has passed us by. I can't put it into words, but I miss these days.

When you say the "Mother" name of Hungry Jack's, are you referring to Burger King?
Smartboy8877 10 months ago
@Smartboy8877
Yeah, Burger King USA must be so mad they still can't get their name plasted all over australia.
Anyway, I always call it burger king because that's what I am used to.
It'll remain Hungry Jacks for the foreseeable future.

Collins Foods International
Now Collins foods Group.
Just a company in Queensland that controls KFC etc....
ihaveairlockers 10 months ago
@ihaveairlockers
Do you mean that they control the Australian branch of KFC?
Smartboy8877 10 months ago

Just Queensland KFC but they also controlled Sizzler for the whole of australia, I think...

Sizzler is very much still in operation in australia under the control of Collins Foods Group.
They are all over australia.
They used to have Taco Bell but that was unpopular in australia so they stopped doing that chain of restaurants.
Hope this helps, cheers.
PS, Australian sizzler operates it's food delivery like KFC USA where you can take as much drink and pasta etc as you want.
