in the scene where Clarice first meets Hannibal, Anthony Hopkins made me feel uncomfortable just watching him behind the glass, it was an amazing feeling. He just played Hannibal so well
Amazing thing about this film when you look at it Oscar-wise.....it was released in FEBRUARY!!! You definitely don't see a film these days win a "Best Picture" Oscar by being released that early (most winners now days are released in like November/December!)>
I haven't seen the film but I'm reading the book at the moment and can't put it down. For some reason I picture Dr Lecter as Jeremy Irons; he would have been great in the role in my opinion.
This movie made me freak myself of getting false alarm in every scene, not fun at all, but after this movie and the next will be Hannibal. This Lamb is the masterpiece.
@chrisverhaagh Ed Gein never divulged in cannibalism but he was a body snatcher and killed two women. Police didn't catch him and imprison him till the very end, so he doesn’t have much similarity to Hannibal Lector the only slight resemblance is that of Buffalo Bill who was derived from real serial killer events, in particular Ed Gein, Albert Fish & Jeffrey Dahmer ( Dahmer/Fish both cannibals).
She trying to track down Ed Gein. I know his name is Bufflo Bill but what he did was based on Ed Gein. So it's like she's trying to track down Ed Gein but instead of being mental and derranged like the real Ed Gein was. He just kills because he chose to.
Now to wait for the hack writers and directors of Hollywood to male a shitty remake of this amazing art of a movie, just like every great movie of the 20th century. Whopti-fukin-do
this movie is great .. i can feel the darkness while watching this it seems that a devill mind is behind this movie . in a scale of 1-10 ill give this a perfect 10 ^ ^
@felixolshanetzky It was based on the novel "The Silence of the Lambs" by Thomas Harris. The title is explained, more so in the novel, you just have to watch the film or read the book. (I say read the novel first, though.)
Great movie and book! The only thing I never understood in any of them was the scene where Clarice and Crawford arrive to the West Virginia funeral parlor and Crawford takes the police boss away. Why did he took him away and didn´t discuss anything in Front of her? Although they kind of explain why, I didn´t understood why Crawford did that.

Impossible to dislike this film. It's not about being a scary film or making you cry. It's about the creativity in relation to characters and themes, the suspense and curiosity that emerges whilst watching. It's very interesting and it's a very well made film that obviously comes from a brilliant novel by Thomas Harris and I love it.
Definitely deserved being considered as a major classic film now.
@justlikeclouds I think this movie has great, probably unseen before suspense management, and simply stunning cinematography; and I just can't get enough of Jodie Foster. But I think her performance, just like the writing of her character, was weak; I think 16 minutes (out of 110 without titles) should not be enough to win the Oscar for best actor; plus, I found the movie not to be engaging, enthralling enough.
I think it's overrated. And I just saw it about 10 minutes ago.
@faatmaan01 haha no has nothing to do with lambs but he is a canibal and in the movie he loves lambs (which is meat) and to make lamb meat you have to kill them and there silent,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,back then they took there tiltes seriously
@123airstrike no, he when she is talking to him he she says she tried to run away because of the screaming lambs, but she says she still wakes up and hears them, but at the end of the film she doesnt. The title has meaning, you'd probably call it 'da cop who meets a canibal lyke'.
this trailer totally doesn't show how awesome the movie is...and if you actually watch the movie you find out how everything connects. it's all so perfect.
@mizzfreakster96 It might be too deep for you then. See the movie and if it's still not clear to you, then you might want to stick to Michael Bay films.
@mizzfreakster96 well the movie is called the ''the silence of the lambs" because earlier in her life clarice mentioned something about a lamb and how it wouldn't stop crying and how she wanted it to be silent, and then lector brought it up later in the movie....and the reason the poster has a moth on it is because clarice found moth pupa in the throats of buffalo bill's victims.
@mizzfreakster96 watch the film and you'll understand exactly the connections. Moth comes from 'Buffalo Bill' and the title comes from a conversation between Lecter and Clarice. The psychotic killer bit... well... XD don't have much to add on that one.

The movie's title is perfect, nowadays people want everything delivered in the simplest, brainless way possible. As if thinking was some sort of punishment. While we're are it, we should all call kandinsky's paintings "weird colored shapes" so we can avoid reflecting on them any further.
I cannot believe how quite a few of my friends will rank Jim Carrey as the greatest film star ever (he's okay at times, but not the greatest) and will give 'Megamind' 5 stars (despite them being older than 9), and have never seen, let alone heard of 'The Silence of The Lambs' or Anthony Hopkins. This is such a brilliant film, in plot, characters, acting and directing, and it still has some quite chilling scenes (even for nowadays horror/slasher films).
@Blizzardfanboy Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. While I agree that under no circumstances should a film like "Megamind" get a 5/5, simply saying something like "Your opinion is wrong" doesn't change anything.
What i love about this movie is that its based on a suspenseful story, bot just on gore. And altho lector is a serial killer u almost want to respect him! Crazy but great movie!
