Accept the comment but a bit harsh considering the stage was absolutely tiny and lighting was pretty poor. Couldn't get all in the shot sadly. For info, Night and Day is essentially a long, very narrow pub with a stage in far corner. Nite bad video all things considered.
The camera operator fixated only on Johnny, and thus missed the man's essential genius: You work as PART OF A WHOLE, some thing bigger than yourself.
For viewers to not see the bass player and the slide guitar player, that's just plain clueless. Whoever shot this video has missed what Johnny's really about. He's all about collaboration.
@pfmrokman -- The lyric is "I am the son and heir of..." and then Morrissey names various dreary attributes. It's a central element in this song. In this life, we are the children (and heirs) of all sorts of stuff.
"You have a lovely singing voice, a lovely singing voice. And all of those who sing off key, they took the notion from me. So sing your life." Marr has a decent voice but sounds as hollow singing as Morrissey's band sounds playing Smiths songs. Sad they couldn't work it out. I'm sure Vegas has an eight-figure show deal for you two. I'd be there.
Holy shit! I had no idea Johnny had this amazing voice. His guitar playing is legendary and he still has it. Its strange how his voice sounds so much better than Moz's nowadays.
Anyhow the Mr.Marr your guitar skills just astound me. The creativity and talent it takes to write and play his music is so incredible.
I am 53...born in 1958. I started going to concerts in 1969 (1st show= Grand Funk RR & Lee Michaels in Toronto, Ont, Canada) Over the years I have seen hundreds of concerts-every possible musical genre. I still go to Live shows as often as possible. WHY do I preface with all this "jibber-jabberr?"..Because I saw Johnny Marr and the Healers in a Buffalo NY niteclub during the "BOOMSLANG" promotional tour! AMAZING. INCREDIBLE. AWESOME. Marr-Healers were among the BEST I'd ever seen! Again soon???
@glider1989 Wrong. Clean guitar recorded then fed through four Twin Reverbs and the tremolo was done manually by him and the producer wiggling the volume knobs on the amps.
I don't give a fuck what anyone else thinks, so I'm going to say it. "Johnny Marr IS the Smiths".

I always thought that "I am the son and the heir" was "I am the sun and the air"..
Anybody else?
