  • The note confusion =D My Favourite part

  • You have not been giving this video its salary of "likes". Send these likes and watch. Should these commands be ignored, a disaster beyond your imagination will occur. I will be watching from Box Five.

I remain, gentlemen, your obedient servant,

    OG

  • 2 people were blinded by the butt on 5:56 and pressed the wrong button

  • Every time I listen to the Notes song the Phantom says he had several notes to them yet I can only count six, what is the seventh one?

  • only 2 people hit the wrong button on this one :)

  • @henrylover7 Justiceee!!!! :D Nobody hates this video actually, really... :PP

  • 2:44 is my fav part:D he has such a magnificent voice<3333

  • Still gives me goosebumps when i hear oit!

  • the most amazing line for me: 'what new surprises lie in store?' the harmony is perfect

  • @lololwut321 Totally agree! One of my favourite parts too!

  • excellent play!!!!

  • "Of course not!" Haha Raoul's so insulted :D

  • "and what is that we were meant to have wrote? er, written" haha i love this movie!!!!! Carlotta fits the countess role better..i cant picture Christine in the huge wig and dress

  • doesn't Meg have the cutest voice ever? She sounds like a 5 year old lol

  • I personally think that Carlotta fits the role a lot better. I don't think Christine would look good in that gaudy thing.

  • @coolyo617 I agree, and I never understood why Carlotta was thought to be a bad singer. Her voice is powerful, but she is quite good. Carlotta and Christine are two totally different types of singers, I don't think they can be compared with each other. It's kind of like comparing bombers to fighters...

  • I actually love Carlotta cast ^^

  • marry me Raoul.....

  • @ShannonMarie543 No! He's mine!

    Jk

I'm glad to see there's more Raoul fans out there than just me :D

  • @RvenclawPadawan And we could have been such good friends... Nah, I don't have a problem with Raoul here, other than him constantly cock-blocking Erik. X3 In the book, though, he's pretty freakin whiny.

  • @hotnoodle101 Hahahahaha XDD

  • Simon Callow and Ciaran Hinds in this are brilliant as Andre and Firman!

  • I love Firmin and Andre's simultaneous "Senora no."

  • My question is why do Firmin and Andre obsess over her when the public clearly loves Christine more?

  • @WondersNassiri Coz they're trying to oppose the Phantom! Plus they think that Christine's slept with Raoul and that's why he wants her to be on stage!

  • Not a big fan of Prima Donna, but Notes is one of my favourite songs in the movie, I wish it came on the actual soundtrack...

  • @Rockstarpenguin13 it's tradition that on opening night, the managers of an opera house drink out of the leading lady's shoe

  • of COURSE not!

  • XDDD The rest of the cast is waving happily as Carlotta leaves angrily. XDDD

  • Why did Firman drink out of Carlotta's shoe...?

  • @ramah920 I've always wondered about that too...

  • lol andre and firmin carrying carlotta

  • Comment removed

  • As much as I love watching Ciaran Hinds, he really cannot sing... =S

  • One of the only decent scenes in an otherwise very disappointing film. Minnie Driver is a joy and really hams it up a treat.

  • LOL @ 5:35 !! she looks like the scream haha

  • gerryyyyyyyyy :D

  • I love Gerard's mouth!

  • @GothicAnnamal yeahhh :)

  • 5:27 I love carlottas voice!

  • @princessleia19 I agree! I really like that part too! ;D

  • gosh I love raoul in this song!

  • I don't understand why people don't like this movie. Its so amazing >< and the characters are really well cast.

  • @Cooleospongenickle totally agree!

  • @Cooleospongenickle people don't like this movie? :O unthinkable

  • @Cooleospongenickle The music is amazing. The plot is actually quite lacking, if you pay attention. Its not as good as the book, or as earlier versions of the screenplay or musical in that sense.

  • @Cooleospongenickle maybe because the singing was disappointing compared to real opera vocallist

  • @Cooleospongenickle It's not a good adaption of the book. As someone who's experienced both, I haven't a problem with it, I quite like it, but I can see the other side.

  • @Cooleospongenickle Ive heard people complain about the movie from the part where they sing Phantom of The Opera cuz its, Quote, "a fucking piece of garbage made upfantasy fairly tale with things like the sun having a smiley face on it" -an ass hole

but he was probably a fucking troll, so Im guessing trolls dont like it cuz its their life work to try and piss off people with decency

  • haha, rehearsed breath ^.^

  • This is one of my favorite scenes of the movie, for some reason. I adore it.

  • Carlotta [Angrily]: Where is he?!

    Andre [Happily]: Oh welcome back!

Ah, this still makes me laugh. :]

  • FUCKING PHANTOM!!! (GERARD BUTLER) IS SO FUCKING SEXY! <33333 LOL and when they're singing prima donna their faces are like..... Oh......gawd.

  • FUCKING PHANTOM!!! (GERARD BUTLER) IS SO FUCKING SEXY! <33333

  • Does anyone know what the thing is that they Give Carlotta that she's like petting besides her dog?

  • @saxyback345 its a muff, often used to warm your hands

  • @saxyback345 IIRC the french name is manchon but I'm not sure the english name.

  • @saxyback345 i think it's a fur pillow :/

  • @saxyback345 its something you put your hands in. its usually furry

  • @101goodwitch101 it's called a muff :P

  • i always laugh at this song. they're all like 'I HAVE A NOTE!' it's freaking hilarious how many times they keep saying that and how they all blame eachother

  • "il muto" is Italian for "the mute (person)", so wouldn't the silent part be better?

  • @Kyaco2Paco ... *facepalm*

  • 9:00 i love Firmin and Andre's part here, ex. "A chorus girl who's gone and slept with the patron" XD

  • @tsphilly98 Who'd believe? A Diva happy to relieve a chorus girl whose gone and slept with the Patron. Raul and his soubrette entwined in loves duet. Although he may demur, he must have been with her. You may not get away with all this in a play, but if it's loudly song, and in a foreign tongue, it's just the sort of story audiences adore. In-fact, a perfect opera. <3

  • MINNIE DRIVER LOOKS HOT AS A PIMADONNA DAMN!!!!!!

  • I love Piangi's voice in the background

  • They screwed with Madame Giry's amazing hairstyle in this movie and now I'm upset.

  • ferman and andre are my favorite characters because of this song.

  • the viscount, herrr loverrr ;D

  • Haha I love 1:45-2:03 and 2:22

  • Ok, yes I think it is creepy that the phantom plays with dolls, but I just love the little caress he does with his fingertip to the Christine doll head.

  • "far too many notes for my taste

and all of them about christine

all we've heard since we've came is my Daae's naaaam......."

    best part <3

  • Also, why do they want her so bad? The phantom threatened them and Christine is much better.

    BTW I adore this movie/story/play

  • @OwlCityFan26 They didn't want to follow the Phantom's orders because it's their theater. Plus, if Christine leaves Carlotta can stay.

  • 1) "And what is it that we're meant to have wrote?...written." LOL

    2) I agree with the phantom:P and I love him

    3) nooning her. Ew.

  • Does anyone else want that "playset" of the Opera Populaire? o-o

  • Isn't that skull wax seal AWESOME?!?!

  • @Chizpurfle52595 ikr i was that frikin awesome

  • one of my favorite musicals :), definetly top 3

  • I was watching POTO with my mom anf of course I sang along in evry song *I'm a show of xD* but when this song came up I was singing all the parts and my mom was looking me like I was an alien xD and yes I rolled the ''r'' like carlotta xD I really love her. she is my faveorite character after the Phantom of course ...

  • can some super smart person somewhere please answer this for me? what's the difference between an operetta and a musical?!!!

  • He's really enjoying himself at 4:43.

I wish he smiled more often throughout the movie. Looks cute. :)

  • andre did ok on "damnable..." Furman did a good job on "oh it seems you got one too" because in the original london cast version the full line is "...but we have no cast!but andre have you seen the queue, oh it seems you got one too" which leads to confusion as to what he's talking about but here its very clear. the "who would have the gaul..." part was ok but like i said earlier it wouldve been better faster...because it has such a bouncy feel to it.

  • I like this, but im stupified by the original london casts version, because its flawless where i noticed bunches of mistakes in this one...what i noticed was from the very beginning it was too slow, i think it should be done at a tempo a bit faster than "moving along" because it makes the "who would have the gaul..." part more bouncier it pleasing, but its like they were stumbling on words through this. plus furman butchered his first solo, he was flat on the word "cheers" and stumbled end notes

  • Gerard Butler is a great phantom

  • @arand0mp3rs0n But Micheal IS THE PHANTOM

  • Omg I'm firmin in my school's production... this song makes me want to kill something- it's SO HARD

  • I think the actress who plays Carlotta did a FANTASTIC job! Everyone else was just mediocre to the Original London Cast.

  • I feel sorry for Carlotta's little maid peoples. They have to follow her around with that huge painting while she spazzes.. Bet that's happened more than once...

  • ah opening night of my school's production of phantom, im so nervous haha

  • my school is doing this in two weeks!!! cant wait

  • WOW!!!!!!!!

  • They changes SOOOO MANY words in the movie.... I don't even think it can legit be called Phantom of the Opera considering half the stuff was different from the real musical for no reason other then the director clearly not knowing anything about musical theater...

  • @LearnToFly1000 Don't forget that Andrew Lloyd Webber also produced the film. He agreed and also contributed to the changes.

  • @LatasianDevil He did?? Ehh I don't really like the changes that much. It's such an amazing script why mess with perfection?

  • @LearnToFly1000 you do know that the stage musical was originally based on a book which was also based on fact/rumours of an actual ghost at an opera house in paris. and a lot of things do fit in with events in the book as to whether they are in the right order or not is debatable but it still means that it is following the story therefore still about the phantom of the opera

  • @BRACEwits Yeahh I never read the book. I want to though.

  • @BRACEwits One of the characters mentioned in a few lines of the book is actually a real person who lived in the cave under Opera Garnier; he's described as terrifying everyone, including the phantom himself :p

  • I don't understand why they don't boot Carlotta out though, nobody really likes her as much as Christine. I mean they do have the authority to do that

  • Dear Raoul,

    Please die in a hole.

    Thank you,

    ~Noodlez

  • I love how there is that person who moons Carlotta at 5:56

Heh, that is one of my favorite dude.

  • 3:36 Aw! Raoul sounds so concerned for Christine! <3

  • I love the Phantom, but i sorta noticed that at 4:33 he strokes the removable doll head of Cristine's....kinda creepy in my opinion

  • @NightsDarkAngel1 its not creepy its sweet, he loves her!

  • @goombamario1 no, public school.

  • The phantom dislikes this

  • @Evekinz910 Because then we'd all burst into song in math class, and how would we keep things secret then? ;)

  • @frozentear3 we did do better because my school is freakin' EPIC!

  • @MrBbats yh right u probs went to a special school

  • 9:23 Carlotta looks like a wedding cake :)

  • I dunno, I think my highschool did better than this...

  • @MrBbats Sure it did! ;)

  • @MrBbats Shut up this is A GOOD MOVIE!!!!

  • @MrBbats what school was it? I saw it at University High school they preformed it amazingly!

  • @MrBbats My school just did this for our Spring Performance, I was part of the stage crew :)

  • @KiloAlpha1337 Lucky i want to be in this play but im only in 7th grade -_-

  • @MrBbats I know mine did. I should know, I was in pit for it. I listened to each song about a million times. If I may ask, what school do you go to?

  • These are my fave songs in Phantom! Ciaran Hinds and Simon Callow are wicked as Andre and Firman!

  • "And what is that we're meant to have wrote..*awkward pause* written?" kills me ever time in the show

  • "The role of the pageboy, which makes my casting, in a word, ideal."

Hahaha, one of the best lines. And I love his little smirk after saying that.

  • Oh! Erik knows how make chaos ^_^

This is my favourite song. Great one!:)

    "Of course not!" heheh...

  • So we're performing Phantom at our school and I'm in the pit. We were rehearsing these songs for about two hours, so this song has been stuck in my head for two days and counting.

    Especially...

"Far too many notes for my taste, most of them about Christine. All we've heard since we came is Miss Daae's name..." etc.

  • @TheMightyPineapples That phrase has been repeating itself ad nauseum for the past couple of days. I now have to memorize the song so I don't just keep hearing that little clip!!!!

  • Why cant we all still dress like this? its stunning! :)

  • @kutekristi16 OOOOH I know right! :O

  • @Frozentear3

A lady up the road still dresses much like Carlotta does in this. And it's bloody amazing to look at

  • @kutekristi16 because those things are hard to walk/run/do anything inin

  • @kutekristi16 I agree - except the dresses were prone to catch fire if you stood to close to the fireplace! We have Oscar Wilde's wife to thank for stopping all that!

  • @kutekristi16 except for the wigs lol

  • @kutekristi16 seriously! i love victorian dress!!!! then again... those corsets can really do damage on ur ribs.... still luv it tho!!

  • "And did you send it?"

    "Of course not!"

    "As if he would."

    "You didn't send it?"

    "Of course not!"

Oh Raoul, you get me everytime :D

  • I LOVE Minnie Driver as Carlotta. although Minnie isn't doing her own singing her acting is great. i also love the costumes in this movie.

  • I just wish they casted the woman who can for Mimi instead of plopping in an actress without the talent for the role.

  • Firman and andre would make exellent chucklebrothers :D

  • I love what Raoul's wearing!! :3

  • My highschool has been putting on this production, this scene was one of our biggest crowdpleaser.

  • I love Carlotta's voice and accent!!

  • isn't this the letter you wrote?

and what is it that we were ment to have wrote.. ah written. :)

  • I can't believe the woman who played Carlotta voices Jane in Tarzan. Wow.

  • omg madame giry looks just like my drama director!!! sshe was on broadway for a while

  • Just wondering...

Why would andre and firmin write a note telling raoul that he will never see christine again?

  • These two men make the show. They're so cute!

  • I love these songs XD

  • the lyrics are diffrent :(

  • "Which in a word makes my casting.....ideal" No way Eric! Cristine is much too young to play The Countess and Carlotta is far too old to play The Page-Boy!

Who else agrees with that statement?

BTW, the costumes and set design in "Il Muto" are freakin' awesome!!!!!!!!!!

  • @smilefumble The Phantom's point was that the role of the countess calls for charm and appeal (which Christine has and which Carlotta doesn't), while the role of the pageboy is silent (so Carlotta wouldn't be screeching in his ears). He wasn't looking at their respective ages.

  • @lekszi46 At least in my opinion Carlotta was very appealing as the Countess.

  • @smilefumble Ok, but this was all about the Phantom's opinion. Next time maybe the writers will want your opinion instead of the Phantom's. :)

  • @lekszi46 That line aways makes me laugh- the Phantom is such a sarcastic bugger lol!

  • @GothicAnnamal that 1 more of his attractive features

  • @smilefumble i agree, Erik is putting a hell of a lot of pressure on Christine. She is too young to play the countess (i mean what is she 18? 19?) and Carlotta is far too old to play the page boy (i assume she may be in her forties?)

  • @TheBatmangirl14 Actually, while shooting this movie, she was only sixteen. When the film was released in 2004, she was only eightteen.

  • @Frozentear3 i knew how old the actress was, I was talking about Christine as a character

  • @TheBatmangirl14 Haha well excuse me princess, if you wanna know all the details of the story you should read the book, I gues.. Never did it myself tbh. But I totally agree with you that Christine just doesn't fit to be the countess...

  • @TheBatmangirl14 It's never quite stated; in the book she just graduated from the conservatoire so she should be in early 20s

  • "Senora PARDON us!"

  • the magic of music

  • Sigh, I know this movie was decidedly different from the opera music of the musical, but even so, they could have gotten better people to at least be able to SING. And Minnie Driver's presence is so wasted. The movie focused too much on making it sexy and not, you know... good.

  • What a way to run a business indeed!

  • Comment removed

  • "and what is it that i'm meant to have wrote *thinks* written..." that just cracks me up.... xD I really miss Notes on the soundtrack. its just so brilliant.

  • Bye bye Carly!!

  • Andre's Of course not! and at about 6 minutes what does Madame giry say?

  • @ChristinaDestler i dont hear the first thing, but i hear " the angel sees, the angel knows "

  • Andre's Of course not!

  • "And what is it that we're meant to have wrote-- ah, written".

LOL. You have to appreciate a musical that cares more for proper grammar than whether or not a verse rhymes.

I love this song so much. It's one of my absolute favorites. Actually, it's in my top 5 fromPotO soundtrack.

  • i dont really like firmin here, hes singing alot slower

  • I just LOVE how Raoul sounds here!!! After listening to Andre and Firmin it sounds amazing. And then, after listening to Carlotta, the Phantom is even more amazing than usual.

  • this used to scare me but know it doesnt

  • this music is so much better than the music now a days
