  • Oh, Billy Boyd! ♥

I'll have to see this movie just because of him!

  • funny how they mention two actors but not the main one

  • at 0:20, I used to live at that area! It's called chapel lane. The flats etc, do not exist anymore. It's all flat land now. I remember when it was being filmed :)

I was hangin out of the window in the background watching... The filmers etc told me and my buddy off :/

When they are in the circle, there was a rubber mat. My friend was going to steal it but we didn't :P.

    Ahh... memories.

[location: Chapel lane, Scotland, east ayrshire, Galston]

  • @VideoGamerHD What was the year they film that?

  • @TheHelder1976 Oh god... It was so long ago...It must of been roughly around 05', maybe even 04'! It's been a while.

  • Zapped into this movie today and as a rather big cycling fan I was a little confused why I didn't recall having heard about him (especially since it's as recently as it is.) Then I realized that he is/was? a TRACK rider and I'm more for ROAD racing.

Just a question though; WERE the UCI really such dickheads? Constantly changing the rules so he wouldn't have a chance?

  • @RedheadDane Yes even more so than the film actually depicts!!!

He could have been as good if not better than Boardman given the funds etc. just never given the chance!!

Its one of those stories that should be learn't from to improve British cycling for all.

  • @Forcutty

Eeeh... did you forget to write your comment? I DO know my own username...

  • @RedheadDane They are still like this. Radio ban, Saddle inclination, 3:1 rule, and so on

  • @D370n470r

Yeah... that stuff with the saddles was just... RIDICULOUS!

  • bel film! :)

  • legend.

  • @bikeracerguy

yeah, I know, I told you it was a stupid reason, but it's still kind of gross.

  • @skyarsalan

Why? If you watch a race that's what they're all wearing...

  • Loved it!

  • if the guy wore less skin tight short shorts, I really would have liked the movie better. I know it's stupid, but it was kind of gross to see a guy like that. Great movie though. Gave me chills.

  • i cried today cause of this movie :(

  • This movie is amazing, but very underrated.

Awesome story, Great actors, and the soundtrack is amazing.

  • just curious, what has this movie got to do with specialized ?

  • @sukiwooty kidding??? have you seen the movie?

  • If anyone is looking for this movie they have them in Big Lots for only 3 bucks....... they actually have a lot of good ones for 3 bucks. Picked up a few cycling related movies there Quicksilver with Kevin Bacon, American Flyers with Kevin Costner and The Flying Scotsman. I just got back from Big Lots ,June 19, 2010, they still have all three there. I am in Gonzales, La but when i was in Latrobe , Pa and Sylacauga, Al a few months ago they had them there too.

Just thought i share this info.

  • @dycastor Thank you for the info! I went to the one right by me and found a copy. Only two left. ^_^ Though, only The Flying Scotsman was the only cycling I could find.

  • @Kamiakume No problem...glad someone got use out of this info. They seem to restock there selections every once in a while so maybe one of the other ones will pop up next time.

    Good Luck

  • Id hate to see how fast the superman position would be these days with the suits and bikes being as aerodynamic as they are today =S It would be crazy. I <3 this movie.

  • Couldn't they have come up with a more original name? "Flyig Scotsman" has already been taken.

  • @Femmenition just because something has been used before does not mean it cannot be used again. It is a very appropriate name.

  • @Femmenition That was what his nickname was. It's a true story, so they took that name. :)

  • why is specialized mentioned?

  • @koko56 they gave him the tires and money

  • @arcosecante

    I see. Thanks.

  • This is a good story and Johnnie Lee Miller is the perfect guy to play Graeme he even looks like Graeme used to.

  • briliant movie, briliant story, briliant cast, briliant soundtrack,

  • Where I can download this movie?

  • Buy it

  • @biciklista97 Only in Scotland of course.

  • Damn good film

  • this roxx

  • The real flying scotsman can do 100MPH

  • esta pelicula me hace llorar, y me insipira a la vez es la mejOr perlicuLa dEL mundOo!!!

  • the UCI are ass holes err pardon me (arse holes) they change the rules on riders all the time..the 90s was a cool time because people were so creative and inventive..but UCI did away with that...if there is one man capable of breaking the hour record currantly it has to be fabian cancellara from SUI...im 36, been a rider since i was 12 in 85..he has to be the fastest riders ive ever seen in my life..Wish i could see the move but i live in america, wont be easy to find.

  • i found it easily on brazil. And fabian will try the record

  • @sprintbass This movie is good, it's available in the states, check netflix - or your local library.

  • SIR GRAEME OBREE

  • I love this movie..i love the real story..!!!

  • Your legs are only 6 inches thick? How the hell do you stand up?

  • All scots are good at biking, it's the genetics, I barely work out and my legs are 6 inches thick with mostly muscle. I can get up to 35mph on my bike, it's a piece of scrap, tried out my budy's and got to 43mph, and that's with biking less then a 1000 miles in my 18 year life time, had a bike since I was five.

  • dad could do 40mph when he was 25 and he's only 5' 7"

  • @stoddcrew I wondered the same thing, and a Scot (actually a Shetlander) told me it's because they get lots of exercise on the mountains, chasing Haggises and other such beasts.

  • @comsunjava haggises?, is that a joke?, oh and I agree with you on the mountain thing

  • One of the best films i had never heard about... I only came across it because i was doing "research" on aerodynamic positioning

  • Think it is called 'A Piece of Peace" by Nigel Jenkins or maybe Martin Phipps, but still haven't found a way of getting the track on its own

  • nothing...erp..well i tried it but i didn´t find the music.

  • Everybody should watch this film. and thanks so much for posting.

  • i just saw it and it was a good flick. inspiring to say the least. this guy is about a month younger than me... god i feel lame. :-D

  • damn soundtrack of this movie is so powerful. but i can't believe they never made a cd soundtrack of all of them.

  • @FredGavioes I have the original soundtrack on itunes. I have a connection to the composer and am attempting to find some way to get the soundtrack released, having read yours and others disappointment that the soundtrack was never released. Just the other day I was listening to the opening track heard at the beginning of this video, though of course free from the sound effects heard in this video. Somehow or other I'll see the soundtrack get s to people.

  • @FredGavioes do you know if there is a soundtrack?

  • 1993? thats the year i was born. i just watch The Flying Scotsman on tv and pretty inspired by it. super duper great movie. i really really want a bike right now. hahahah

  • Do some know the soundtrack title or something?

  • Its a good movie.

  • looks like a good movie

  • yeah, it is!!!

btw, what is the background musik from the begining???

  • music from the film
