04:16 Clearly, Critic you haven't seen Star Trek 11. That not only gave Star Trek a new lease of life, but also made it mainstream accessible and above all badass.
6:57! Dear, God. I can never watch that scene without my stomach cringing. NC, please warn us before you decide to use one of the most disturbing scenes in cinematic history. I've been trying to avoid it since I was seven.
I remember when The Langoliers came out & all the hype there was about it.Now I enjoyed the cast mostly, but my main prob (even tho I enjoy Stephen Kings movies) was the monsters! Why?It's CGI.I don't know why,but a rolling blob with teeth just didn't scare me at the time.Sorry, but CGI always look fake to me for some reason.
I must admit when I saw the clown A.k.A IT I wanted to stop watching. I have never seen a Stephen King film or read one of his books I do not think I want to
@18haylo The second boy is Cole from The Sixth Sense, the boy on the far right is Danny from The Shining and the girl on top is Carrie. I don't know the other two.
This place smells wrong. well so do my garbage cans but i dont complain about through bad acting i just tke out the trash and next tinei will be sure to go buy the dvd for this movie jus so i can put it with all the pther trash like Rad, Milk Money Kazaam, both Animated Titanic Movies, and much much more.
this movie freaked me out, as a little kid, but i was little. I mean, I still think to this day the build up in the movie is good, but...once those crappy CG meatballs pop up all that buildup falls flat...
WAIT WAIT WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bullets have no effect in this world, you said it at 13:24 i understand that if time works on the plane the girl can die there but what about the black dude!!! He died in the airport! IT MAKES NO SENSE!!!!!! (I'm this close to cracking :( )
Yeah, alot of Stephen King's movies don't do as well as his books. For example, the novela 'The Apt Pupil' is in my opinion his most fucked up and creepy story, yet the movie was pitful and didn't nearly capture all the creepiness and the even creepier underlying tones.
So let me get this straight: Most of the passengers have dissapear and only a few people survived because they fell asleep in the plane......WHERE EVERYBODY FALLS ASLEEP.
What the f**k is wrong with " Child's Play" and, especially, the great and mighty "Fright Night"!? Does he know what a horror comedy is!? I like his reviews, they're funny stuff, but I think his is more of a typical movie critic, who wants " deep, intelligent and swedish" movies :P Ok, just joking with that last one, but... " Fright Night" is really awesome! What the hell!?
@wujucinek he never said anything was wrong with them other then there silly movies which they are but trust me i fucking love fright night but i never really did care for any of the childs play films i mean its a fucking 2 foot tall doll whats to be afraid of
@shockwavecg I know right! 4 Emmys and 5 gloden globes! no kidding! I have this strange feeling that he thought this was a satire and so he played it up and no body told him otherwise :P
The reason Stepehn King has a maine fetish? He was born here and lives here. Specifically in Bangor :P that's why most of his books take place there. I've seen his house
This movie does suck in some ways, but I give it a pass for how trippy the story is and for being a TV Movie with a low budget and for having Balki. Balki has never done anything that isn't good, Beverly Hills cop and True Romance are two of my favorite movies. Also, people who say the TV movie Shining is better than Kubricks just because it sticks to the book more are smoking crack, judge it independently of the book.
@hyenalord You aren't the only one who liked the Tv version of The Shining. I like Jack Nicholson, but he was too over the top. Steven Weber made him a more realistic, sympathetic character.
The NC's too hard on Tom Holland, as both "Fright Night" and "Child's Play" are both good movies, but he has a point on his name being so huge in the DVD credits. Those two aformentioned movies are pretty much the only two decent movies Holland has ever directed in his career. He's not a Speilberg or Cameron who'll get people into seats just by saying or displaying their name. People hear his name, they'll just go "Who?"
I swear, I must be the only person who thinks that the Shining with Stephen Weber is the better version. Kubrick's version had NOTHING to do with the book and was just a bunch of pretentiously artsy wank... like most of his movies, honestly.
Whoah! sorry - but that weezy guy gettin shot in the chest at point blank with a magnum leaving no trace of resadue, blood, wound or hole on the clothing?
@jdownham1 Yeah When I heard the Nostalgia Critic say Fright Night and Child's Play were silly, I almost flipped a shit! But nevertheless, I love this review and Stephen King books in general.
Not to Be a pussy ,but when i was young I watch Childs Play ANd it scared the shit out of my (when i was YOUNG) And now i cant see Adorable Soft Toy the same Wat anymore i keep thinking that they would strangle and at night Well So i threw them all away
Those two bits are so hilarious, I can forgive the NC for (a) not realizing that King sets most of his novels in Maine because it's his home state and (b) failing to recognize Dean Stockwell and make some appropriate "Quantum Leap" jokes. I mean, this flick is about time-travel and no "Quantum Leap" jokes. Not even a "Ziggy says we're going to get eaten by giant balls" line?
I loved that film very much - too much long but still great. The atmosphere was good, tense, even scary. The acting was decent. The Langoliers is one of the most underrated Sci-Fi films of the 90's - along with FutureSport, The Time Shifters, Virtuosity, Tha Lawnmower Man, Alien 3, Space Truckers, Strange Days, The Arrival, Mimic, The Apocalypse (1997), Virus, RoboCop 2, Them, Body Snatchers etc
I'm with some others on here about your comment regarding fright night and childs play. I don't think they are just silly movies. They both border on cheesy B-Movie terroritory but are far superior than many horror films that came out in the 80's and still hold up for fun viewing to this day.
Oh Critic, Critic, to be fair about that whole "Maine-fetish" he did widen his background setting to other different states in his novel The Stand....only two characters came from Maine.....wait, technically that story doesn't count does it seeing how its a nation-wide post-apocalyptic story and all..... >__>
This is what happens when turn a SHORT story into a 4 hour mini-series.
I just hope NC isn't ever made to watch "The Stand"... <_<
