Sega Master System was slightly more powerful than the NES and Atari 7800 yes. Not too much though. Don't mistake a bad game's graphics as a represenitive of a system.
there are games on the nes which looked better than the sms, so it was really how the company made each port....although i agree in this case the sms version of this looks and plays alot better...i would still choose the nes over the sms because the nes had dozens more classic games...in my opinion the only thing the sms had going for it was the alex kidd and wonder boy series...I was lucky to have both systems as a kid though...
The Master System version looks 2 to 4 times better than the NES version, and the ARCADE version looks 2-4 times better than the Master System version.
The 8-bit ARCADE version (on Sega's System 2 board) looks absolutely amazing in comparison to any other console or computer version. It's a generational leap beyond the original 1982 Apple version and all the ports of that to other computers and consoles.
This is one of the worst ports of any game ever. The SMS port is excellent, despite the missing level. It looks almost as good as the arcade and plays just as well.
Nah... 7800 is a conversion of the original arcade game, and has only the one scenario. It ends after you collect or lose the 64 hostages, and only had 3 enemies. This looks like the Sega Master System version, but even more varied... there's SAMs and jeeps and all kinds of other nifty stuff.
Apologies... I'm wrong... the arcade version is like this, the 7800 version is based off the original version, which was the Apple II version and is as I erroneously described the arcade version.
I got this game and I live in Quebec. on of my friend is japan and he got a fanicom. He gave me Choplifter and Galaxian (2 japan only game for the NES) and a game converter so I can play on my USA NES
I've got both the 7800 version and the SMS version. The Master System version beats all the others, hands down!
STAY AWESOME! :)

Thank god this version of Choplifter stayed in Japan.

@BenJabituya Actually it finally found its way to the US by way of pirated emulated systems. Like the ones that have they say 500 NES games.

lol laughably bad, the SMS version is leagues ahead of this but of course the Arcade version is king and can be enjoyed very easily under MAME :)
