I'm not a US nationalist, but I am a citizen (dual citizenship w/ Germany) and I love both countries. The United States is the best country in the world. And I'm not just saying that because I live here. People here are happier and safer than people in all other countries in the world. We may be fatter and perhaps more ignorant here, but we are also freer. The evolution of our political system spurred a giant movement of democracy across the world, and if you can't deal with it, stop complaining

The Maine was a pretext to colonize the Phillipines, Puerto Rico, and to install a puppet regime in Cuba. I could continue with your high school textbook version of history, but I'll leave that for later. Forgive me if I got any of my facts wrong concerning the Spanish American War.

The Spanish American war, yes, was precisely for the purposes you listed. I just didn't have much room for my message. You have to admit, however, that a larger overshadowing reason for the Spanish American war was that the US disliked having foreign colonies at such a close distance...

@zipper978 While I'm sure that many civilians lose their lives in situations as the one you described. Judging from what I saw, heard, and know about this video, this is not one of those situations. The "insurgents" weren't firing at the helicopter but on the other hand, the soldiers were eager to shoot at them. Then shooting at the people trying to carry away the wounded? This isn't war, this is an extermination. The U.S. isn't even supposed to be in there in the first place.

I saw the entire video on Wikileaks.. these guys were well dressed it was obviouse they were not carrying weapons.. they were reporters... and the soldiers just murdered them.. then a van pulled up to rescue a injured man..and you could clearly see two kids in the car.. the soldiers just lit up the van...it was obviouse these were not insurgents they were not armed and they were dressed in western style clothes...then the soldiers discovered the kids but did not take them to the hospital...

Take a look to China.
