I'm going to miss the shuttle...in my opinion, going back to a capsule is stupid, it's antiquated technology that's getting an over haul. I think a better answer would be a better shuttle. X-33 anyone?
Thank God I'm not the only one who wants Winged Spacecrafts. Winged spacecrafts, such as X-33, will make their return soon. As an Aerospace Engineer, I don't think the Capsules will survive and I know that Winged spacecrafts will make their grand return soon. Give it about 10 years.
I agree that capsule Tech is the future, but the shuttle was an awesome machine. The boosters will fly the new capsules. Ill be sad to see the shuttle go !!
I can't believe this enourmus power of the human technology to boost a shuttle into the space....I was always fascinated of the impression being in such a shuttle as an astronout. Thanks for the video
The Space Shuttle was a multi-billion dollar dead end. We are going back to capsule technology because it is cheaper, much safer and more reliable. It costs more to launch the reusable shuttle than it cost to launch a Saturn V! The design compromises to create a PARTIALLY reusable craft resulted in an orbiter that is nearly as fragile as a child's styrofoam toy.
space travel is a huge investment but its worth the cost and risks. There's alot of technology and health services that you use that was the spinoff from space travel and research.
I wouldnt say its a waste of money. Space travel will be our next big thing. When we tear up this planet and cant live here anymore what will we do then?
Like knights and medevil warfare is looked upon as glamourus by todays standards, I suspect this will look the same in future space travel. Blasting off straight up like that. In the future it could get boring.
Wow that's really amazing. The shuttle sounds very powerful...makes a regular plane sound like a toy almost. I wonder what will come after the current version of the shuttle. We'll need machines with greater speeds and power for missions beyond the Earth's gravity.
I remember this. I prayed to whatever god or spirit there is to guide this one safely on its way. We had one too many tragedy with the last space shuttle. Glad it went so well, and pray the future ones will go and return safely as well.
