although I do think Bruce is a betta option than portia..... Jah know... the 1980's were not a more prosperous time for JA, the seaga model was the most exploitative system in jamaica's history. (free zones out of control, the solidification of the garrisoned communities, food subsidization) please people, what kinda bloodcleet foolishness you talk. Michael manley, was set for de-stabilisation by western powers FIRST AND FOREMOST BECAUSE HE SAID THE DREADED WORD... SOCIALISM*
in the 1980s the jlp was forced to sell off a lot of goverment-owned pnp era companies, because none of them made a profit, sugar companies ,hotels JOS etc-- none of them even made enough to cover their operating cost--some could'nt even pay their light bill or water rate.they were a public burden--the pnp kept operating them just so politcal hacks could have a job.
imagine what jamaicans could accomplish under good effective leadership...the comrades fail to remind us that in the 1980's jamaica's economy was growing at 6% annually the dollar was less than 5 to 1 and there were less than 400 murders per year.....also failed to say that it was manley that left the country in shambles and forced the people to flee the country
the plates of those comrades look full and the man on the work site can only buy 2 bag juice and apatty...you comrades should be ashamed .....ever wonder why the workers on the sites strike every other day does it have anything to do with the poor wages and poor working conditions......just food for thought
did you guys ask qhy so many workers are being imported to work on sites and sidestepping the avaerage jamaican...what about the numerous strikes and complaits don't even mention the poor wages...and oh yeh Bruce is right imagine even countries like Vietnam and cambodia can outpace jamaica we should be ashamed.
I totally agree that the information in this advertisement is rubbish. A nation that is borrowing to pay its bills has a standard of living that is artificially higher than what it truly is. That's the Jamaican story. Eventually the creditors stop lending and public sector contraction is inevitable. Sadly, most trade unionists don't understand the current reality of the global economy.
wage freeze now.....
