hes a disgrace to his own people....no excuses , no going back to what he said..... let SINN FEIN TAKE OVER over.... the Germans and the EU have us by the balls..... young people of Ireland, STAND UP AND BE COUNTED....... IF YE HAVE NO GUTS SHAG OFF TO FORGIGNE LANDS...........
I get the impresson that you are dancing up & down on the floor in a rage like rumplestiltskin. I wonder what you will achieve by your name-calling and invective.
@ mar007b As a percentage of the population the number of people who " became unbecomingly greedy "is tiny, it was mainly developers and the well heeled high fliers who were in for the fast buck. Most people borrowed to get on the property ladder and others to upgrade to better homes or business premises. Successive governments have failed us by bowing to their masters in Europe instead of serving the interests of the Irish people, choosing instead to feather their own nests
@mickdaniels1 I'm well aware of the complicity of the Irish banks in the situation. But it takes two to tango and as uncomfortable as the truth may be, there was a huge number of people who became unbecomingly greedy and clocked up extravagant amounts of debt.
@ mar007b It was the international banks who went mad trying to cash in on the Irish property boom. They threw money at the Irish banks while the european ( and Irish ) regulators turned a blind eye. When it all went pear shaped they went running to merkosy whining that they could not take the loss. The Irish lapdogs e.g. Kenny did ( and continue to do ) what they were told by their masters and the thousand of millions in losses were unjustly placed on the shoulders of the Irish people.
Kenny is like the court jester, playing to the Royalty of europe. He s been chosen as the Mayo " man" of the year [ Burlington Hotel Saturday 3rd. Feb]. I ashamed to be say that he represents me as both a Mayoman and an Irishman. " oh brave men of Ireland for this you [Enda] you fought and died"
Fair play to Kenny! He was bloody well right! The country went mad on borrowed wealth and he sad it as it us! Forget your hare and hounds proverbial bogwash!
@mar007b I didn't borrow money. He's got no right to speak on my behalf, considering the only time you seem those little pricks, is when they want something from you. I hate him, he's a flip flopping ass, sometimes I don't think he even knows what he's talking about. Remember how hard he took his first run for Taoiseach, But that didn't stop him, he was still whinging 6mths afterwards. As for democracy in Ireland, it doesn't work, it can be suspended, just like it was for the Lisbon1/2.
SOME Irish people did go mad. Not ALL of them. But the real problem with Enda Kenny's remarks is that by making his inaccurate statement he showed disloyalty to his fellow Irish people and as their leader he has shown himself to be a turncoat. Running with the hare and hunting with the hound!
Mralban, your so naive people like you are cannon fodder for the banks, Kenny said those things to keep Mercozy happy .he was warned not to blame the banks,. The german and french banks went unregulated for years, invested billions in irish banks to cash in on the property boom and went crying to their politicians when the bust came. Telling them that they would not take their losses, mercozy got together with the ECB and told Cowen that irish goverment will have to gaurentee the debt. End of.
It was not ALL the Irish people who took out loans in the so called boom. Yet it is All the Irish people who are paying. As for Enda Kenny, his remarks were uttered on an international stage, and his disloyalty to the people of Ireland was evident in what he said. Some leader!
MrAlban003 if u really believe that the irish people are at fault for the economic down turn just for spending money or borrowing money then you are very ill informed. almost every person takes out a loan doesn't matter if it's for a house or a car thats they're right as long as they can pay it back, it was the governments fault for not regulating it and letting it get out of hand. how could the ordinary person possibly know things would get so bad that they would lose their job and cant repay
He's absolutely spot on...the Irish people, as well as their bankers and politicians, were complicit in the spending spree that brought Ireland to the very brink of bankruptcy. They all spent money like it was going out of fashion, and are therefore all to blame. The fact that the Irish deny it is what I find amazing...and not Enda Kenny's comments.
Enda. Greed? We all have to pay back our debts, mad or not. Greed is when you expect us to pay back the debts of those who lent to others, both of whom walked away. The Irish are too soft.
