It's not written in the Qur'an to kill apostates. I don't know where you got that idea. It WAS written in the Qur'an to ostracize a specific group of apostates who had raised their swords against the PROPHET, but nowhere in the Qur'an does it specifically say to "kill all apostates". If it helps (although it probably won't), an 80-year-old woman is also Islamically allowed to marry a 12-year-old boy. Just because some men abuse the system in Arabia doesn't mean that there isn't just as much benefit for women in Islam.

Well, they're not dropping it, and there's more of them converting every day. Some of the most learned Muslims in the faith are converts. On top of that, the number of people converting TO Islam is way higher than the number of them leaving, so I wouldn't worry too much about Islam leaving any time soon.

It's not written in the Qur'an to kill apostates. I don't know where you got that idea. It WAS written in the Qur'an to ostracize a specific group of apostates who had raised their swords against the PROPHET, but nowhere in the Qur'an does it specifically say to "kill all apostates". Such generic, wide-scale slaughter is not permitted.
So I'm not "practicing Taqiyyah", I'm just setting your opinions straight.

What I know is that I am reading the Quran in Arabic (obviously the closest to the original) and I go by that and what Muslim Scholars themselves say. I think it is you who has been brainwashed by the media as you said to someone else. That is such and OLD argument used by Muslims when trying to defend Islam - it doesn't hold any water though.

We all know what is right and just, not from a religious text, but from how we would have others treat us. The persecution of women, we all know is wrong. Those who would persecute women are arrogantly asserting that they know the will of Allah. They assert that the Quran justifies their immoral acts. Deuteronomy is Old Testament (judaism). On sharia, wife can be executed for fornification althought she has never commited that deed. Her husband needs four witnesses for judge while the judge knows those witnesses have never seen the woman doing the act. Those "witnessess" must be without point in crime list and non-alcoholists that all suffice for stoning her to death if her husband wants to get rid of her.
