@helipilot3333 the reason there arent any sets is because you cant set in beach like you do indoor. there can be literally NO spin on the ball. so, a lot of beach players opt to bunp set instead of set the ball.
@karst007 First of all you are wrong. Bump setting is very important and you obviously don't watch much beach vball because some guys ONLY bump set and are quite proficient at it. And the no spin thing is completely false, the ball can spin. If you watch some FIVB, EVERYONE hand sets. So basically I have no idea what the hell you are talking about. You know nothing of beach vball(which I have played for twenty years). I just said the reason the rally was so long was because of bad setting.
@helipilot3333 HA!! you are funny. there are a ton of teams that choose to not hand set. I watch a lot of beach vball and even play in a lot of major tournaments. sure players like dalhauser have exceptional hands and sets the ball all the time. BUT, like this rally, there was not one hand set. wich just helps me to prove you wrong and show what an idiot you are. MANY teams (men and women) bump set even if they had a choice between the 2. thanks for coming out tho.
@helipilot3333 oh yeah.... and the spin thing is completely true. maybe you are from some jungle in south america where they play vball with coconuts. if the ball completes more than one revolution in the air its a bad set. dont get into this with me. I WILL WIN. for instance i just googled it and without ANY problems came up with this.
Respond to this video... "On the beach, the ball must come off your hands without any rotation. Setting is definitely one of the toughest skills on the beach to master. "
Id love to see you in one of your tournaments. you prolly get called every point for a bad set.
@karst007 Just because you can type a lot and research from the Google tab about volleyball(that's funny) does not mean you have any idea what you are talking about. You know zero about the psychology of hand setting friend. I am a setter, indoor and out. I am known for my setting ability in the volleyball community where I live. What is considered legal depends on WHO is governing said tournament. I hate to break this too but I started playing in the early 90's when setting was as tight as it's
@karst007 ever been. Ask three out of these players and they will tell you that they would prefer the hand set to the bump set. The wind is obviously nasty in this video which results in bump setting. The comment I was making was in relation to the fact that these guys are pros and no one could seem to put up a decent set. These guys spend most of their careers playing on the beach so they should be used to playing in these challenging conditions. I freely admit that I am not that good in the
@karst007 wind. I am no way comparing myself to these guys. Fonoi is an Olympic Gold Medalist and was widely considered one of the best in the world at one time. I am making an observation that for being pros these guys look pretty shitty. You ask them, they would agree. As far as you "schooling me" read an FIVB rulebook and then read a USAV rulebook AND THEN read an AVP rulebook(if you can actually find one) and you will find the rules vary drastically. BUT NOWHERE IN ANY RULEBOOK DOES IT SAY
@karst007 THE BALL CANNOT SPIN AT ALL. All rulebooks define a "level of spin" which should be read as "rotational speed" but no one understands it. So morons like yourself think "the ball can't spin on a set." Incorrect. That is simply a rule of thumb because no one knows how to properly call it. As far as you "winning," what are you winning? You think you are winning an argument by looking up things on Google? I don't need to do any research, been through it already. How about you go out and
@helipilot3333 dude... other than a double touch... the only other way to tell if a set is good or not is by looking at the ball. that will tell you how it came off the hands. if you were indeed the player that you claim to be then you would know this. i will give you the benefit of the doubt (even tho you are probably a 40 yr old overweight guy living in his moms basement with nothing better to do than comment on youtube videos) and say you are indeed a volleyball player.
@helipilot3333 lets say you do play, i agree that the rules are up to the official. (obviously cause he is the only guy with a whistle) BUT, there is for sure a definite and clear rule on what makes a good set or a bad set. its not an ambiguous term that no one can define. if you played any volleyball, you would know this. so rather than continue to embarrass you here... lets just drop it.
@karst007 First of all, I'm not quite 40, I'm only about ten pounds overweight, and dude my Mom's basement is HUGE. If you can't pick up the sarcasm well, you're an idiot...moving on. Watch this video titled "1996 Olympics Beach Volleyball Quarter Final Match Pt. 1" and then tell me what you think you are seeing. Better yet, how about just watch it and then shut your hole little man.
@helipilot3333 learn something? LMAO... i believe i am the one with the education trying to explain how to set. how about you try to prove me wrong with your little pea sized brain... and prolly is a new term you old fart. try and stay relevant in the world otherwise you will be left behind, much like your limited knowledge on volleyball....
of course i play open tourneys in my area. Look im just staying they werent pounding the ball. they were playing great defense with scrappy yet good technique to get good ups. but no one really got a good swing at the ball. im not trying to shit on them or their playing.
@junior388 you know how hard it is to jump high in the sand? You have to stay moving so you dont sink which makes you work 10x harder than in a court. Also Beach Volleyball is not all about hitting it hard there are only 2 players. Mean while in court volleyball there are 6 players so you must hit it hard in order to score a kill otherwise they are going to pick it up.
Great, but it would be greater if professionals had such a long rally !
