I just bought a new white Gibson Firebird V. $1500 out the door with case. Save your money and buy the Gibson, not the Epi. You'll be happier in the end. Don't ask which Gibson is the best.Try them. EVERY guitar sounds different, even the same exact models, due to the differences in the wood from guitar to guitar. Also got a Gibson faded cherry Flying V. Tone is awesome on that, too. If you're a country picker, get a Fender Telecaster, or better yet, a Fender Esquire. PJ Harvey plays a Firebird.

It sounds out of tune. I've had problems with Gibsons being out of tune before. I don't get it. You'd think at the outrageous prices they charge they could develop the capability to build a guitar that would stay in tune.

its possible the guitar isnt set up correctly. If you buy any guitar brand new, it will not play perfect. You have to take it to be set up.

My friend from Papertongues just bought a brand new Gretsch Penguin, sounds great, but it stayed out of tune until he got it set up.

the epiphone firebird actually is not a "real" firebird. the gibson studio firebird is not a "real" firebird as well. its not a money thing, it's a construction thing: the neck thru construction, imho, is what makes the firebird what it is.

Actually the only difference between Gibson & Epiphone is the Wood.Gibson uses fine woods from Nashville.Epi just uses more affordable wood.The Epi pickups are only licansed as Epi tho they are the same as the Gibson.
