So much emotion to be felt from a piece without words. Camel is still considered one the best progressive goups of all time. It is sad that Andy Latimer is currently in bad health.
Finally? I read this in everywhere. Thats why I will tell You that Camel starting to write music in 1977. Doug Ferguson is all other but not a musican. And Kit Watkins rises Camel to sky hihgs. But they never played the greatest tracks because the mases want their ''Golden age'' . Dont be a blind fans, listen more music. And more music You will find in 1977-1984 . Everything nice
@firestart66 BELIEVE me, I have listened to EVERY Camel album MANY times. Okay, Doug MAY not have been as technical as Richard Sinclair, but he fitted in a whole lot better and was VERY important to the band in other ways. Kit Watkins was a fantastic keyboardist, but I don't like that he almost abondoned the Hammond Organ, which was so important in Camel with Bardens. The albums "Nude", "The Single Factor" and "Stationary Traveller" are sublime and I love them.
@camelandu2 With or without Hammond Organ is personal preference. I prefer to listen Camel without Hammond Organ. So thats why Camel are so great- because in their music has something for everyone. And they were so smart to try a different musicians after 1976. When the band rises- needs better musicians. Its simple.
@firestart66 The same can be said about vocals and musicians. I prefer Camel without Sinclair, because the Camel feel vanished. By the way: ALL musicians in Camel have been SUBLIME, NO exceptions. You can't really say anyone has been better than others, but they have different strong sides. Some of their strong sides may not be musical, but those sides may be far more important to the music than musical sides.
@camelandu2 In the period 1973-1976 i feel Camel more like Deep Purple's rock, more primitive. I feel Camel like different band after Moodmadness album. And jazz is more close to prog than primitive rock I think. Because in the prog rock you can find not just STRONG sides as you say. The prog rock is more poetry, naivizm, classic, harmony...........Who wants a real rock- go to Acdc concert.
@camelandu2 But You cant be unsatisfied. Yours 1973-1976 can be heard in all Camel's lives. I never heard in live versions my favorites Rainbow's End, Breathless, Eye of the storm, Tell me, Your love is stranger than mine...because they are nothing compared to mirage or the snowgoose. I heard Ya so many times to say it. Are You satisfied finally? Huh?
@firestart66 I'm not saying I'm unsatisfied with the live songs they play! I've NEVER said that! ALL I'm saying (and have been all along) is that I PREFER the original line-up to the ones with Richard Sinclair! I PERSONALLY don't think he fits in Camel, his vocals are good, but I don't feel they are right for CAMEL.
@camelandu2 Then go and listen your favorite songs, what are you doing here?
If you are such a great fan of Camel then you must accept all of them. But like the most greating fans you underrated more and more the weakest period. Hah, the weakest period :))))) How you imagine "Ice",or "Eye of the storm",or "Survival" with hammond organ?Real funny, dont you think? :)))
@firestart66 Like any REAL Camel fan, I listen to ALL their songs, and as I've said before: This particular song is one that I enjoy very much, from an album I feel is weaker than its predecessors. Do I ACCEPT all their songs? No. There is ONE Camel song I don't accept, and that is "Down on the Farm", but the rest I do accept. All the way from "Slow Yourself Down" to "For Today". Do you think "Ice" with Hammond organ would be funny? I think it would be even more breathtaking than it already is.
@camelandu2 I will not answer you more. I'm here just to say- Camel is the greatest band when they were a great musicaly.Wen I heard them it was the whole discography. My ears stopped in "Nude" for a long time. And then around this album. With the tracks like Reflections,Drafted,Ice,Hearts desire,End peace,Eye of the storm,Who we are...what Hammond organ you dreaming man? Farewell.

This is a great song, which kind of reminds me of a band I've heard a few days ago, Aperco. Hear the similarity at their channel apercoband

I totally agree ! But this album is nothing , compared to mirage or the snowgoose.. the two camel best albums in my opinion
(sorry for my english!)

Finally someone who agrees with me! In my mind, this era (77-79) is the weakest one in Camel history...
Your English is splendid!
