one of greatest song writer's of our time funny I mention his name just the other week to some one on a comment ...thank's posting such a great talent of our time..
Yes, of course, words by Blake and music by Parry. Some day I must attend "The Proms" because I can sing along with "There Will Always Be An England," "Rule Britannia," and "A Nightingale Sang In Berkeley Square"!!! Anyway, my favorite Foster is "Old Folks At Home (Suwannee River)" - the official State Song of the State Of Florida. Foster was a fellow Pennsylvanian, but sadly he died rather young, an alcoholic and in dire poverty.
I really enjoyed this, though the film title led me to believe I would be hearing the Scottish traditional "Rowan Tree". You can listen to our version @ "Crest of Gordon" - happy listening.
Well, I thought the whole choir was wonderful. It was very powerful for me to hear 19th century American folk music sung with such a lovely British accent.

The rowan tree is magical. Very useful for making wands. See Wikipedia or Harry Potter.

Is Stephen Foster known in the UK? In any case, this chior did a splendid job. We Americans love "Jerusalem" by Parry, so I think it's fair exchange!

Words to Jerusalem were by William Blake, poet/artist printer 18th cenyury?. He saw angels in trees and is one of my top ten heroes.

It's a little bizarre to hear the British accents singing these songs, but I'm glad you all love Stephen Foster. He was one of the greats.

The guy who sings Beautiful Dreamer is very good. The rest of the choir is no slouch either.
