So this age issue with Aisha is no issue. Mohammad was a WIDOWPHILE, he married widows. That was his thing. Not a pedophile. But no one talks about his obsession with widows....right? Because its not controversial enough.

Muslims dont need to conform to subjective socially relevant western morality which changes..ever evolving, depending on the mood of the society.

In Islam, there something called Baligh, look it up. It makes sure the physical & mental maturity of individual before marriage.

Still don't understand what or who he was referring to around 8:55 as the renaissance of Islam. @colerichards6969 because of Islam Persian culture and language spread from the West to far East. In fact Persian culture and language had more dominance over the Muslim masses than Arabic had. This was in fact due to their strict study of theology. Most advancements in science and math etc. in the Muslim world were made by theologians. In short religion laid down the foundation for science. The decline occurred to internal political struggle from which no one truly recovered till this day.

What you are referring to is the ignorance of the Vatican (no offence) and the Church. Muslim, Jewish and Christian Scientists were heralded in Islam.... not burnt on the stake

For instance: How can you revere a man who had sex with a 9-year-old girl while in his 50's? Also, advocating death to infidels and death for apostasy is absolutely heinous. Period. No offense. @colerichards6969 All myths unfortunately... With Hadhrat Aisha they were married when she was 9 but the marriage was not consummated until she was 15 - 16 which was the norm at the time. It was customary for girls to be married at a young age as they helped around the house etc. Death to infidels and for apostasy again all myths; I know there are 'muslim' countries who do it but there is no place in Islam for it, it condemns these acts in the scriptures!!! This is the problem with all religious scripture: it is all so ambiguous. Certainly not indicative of divine inspiration. They can all be interpreted however the reader wants. So what about Sahih Al-Bukhari Vol. 7 Book 62 Number 64 : "Narrated 'Aisha: that the Prophet married her when she was six years old and he consummated his marriage when she was nine years old, and then she remained with him for nine years (i.e., till his death). " Many more passages like this occur in the hadiths.

@colerichards6969 Cos it's a confliction that is automatically dropped as there are many others that state otherwise. The topic of Ahadith is one of immense debate as these are narrations that were recorded many years after the Prophets death. Certain entire books are dropped due to their misquotes. A fact like that would be consistent in all books of narration; not just one.

What are you trying to say about his marriage to her that he was a pedophile? Pedophiles have profiles and exclusive attraction to minors. Mohammad first marriage was to a woman older than him. So were others. If that was his thing, he could have married 13 9 years old but he didnt. The marriage was political.

The objection was over the social relations between the two men and not her age. Mohammad had martial relations with all 4 Caliphs. His marriages were political, that is the only context within the marriage makes sense. Not in some Western perverse theory. For that you need to establish an exclusive interest in minors from his side.

Incest is wrong for biological reasons; it increases the chance of birth defects. And it rarely happens between two consentual adults. I have no issue with polygamy. Really well shot. I think, in all respect, that the problem we see in Muslim societies is that the religion did not experience a reformation-type event and therefore didn't really adjust to modernity in the 1500s onwards.

@rjbonacolta It was not a reformation that was their downfall; in fact it was a deep study of the Quran, mixture into a multitude of various cultures and societies, dialogue & debate that enabled them to progress.

But as muslims left their faith behind, their thought and progress went with it.

Fortunately the faith coupled with rational logic and a wealth of knowledge is returning to Islam through the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.

I just looked again a book about the history of architecture, and they show the same water mill in Syria, I read a passage that translated says that the Greek and roman building technology moved towards the Byzantine empire to Islam.

Many 2000 year old Roman sewage and water transport systems using arcs are still operating today.

It's quite naive to paint the picture as if these things where INVENTED by Islam, contributions came from all over.

@saintpine The Tulun hospital from the 9th century was not just a hospital but also a university of medicine. All physicians were examined by inspectors to maksure they were of the highest quality. The hospitals were designed not only to heal the sick but acted as asylums, shelters and provided free care for anyone - The idea of caring for everyone who needs aid does come from Islam. But you my be right that the initial idea may have come from the Romans; muslims developed many existing ideas.
