I like your idea of sticking to the original hood, youve inspired me to keep the original on my gt500. considering im running a 2.8 Kenne B engine clearance isnt an issue. Ive found the only reason to switch is to increase cooler air flow but thats why they sell heat exchangers. Keep making thaaat power i definitely know youre having a BLAST putting some unsuspecting fool in their place.

A c5 and a c6 are VERY different, 100 horsepower and some weight, IIRC. Why can't we compare the new GT500s? They make less than 10 hp more, no more torque, and weigh 50 pounds less than previous models. Does that somehow make up for 7 tenths of a second?

I agree sleeper. She doesn't look like she would have 862rwhp.. Just for Arguments sake.. my Buddy has a 70 Chevelle that makes that power but it is a low 9 high 8 sec car.
In a way it could be a sleeper when you bring up the fact that it weighs in at a little over 3900 lbs and is supposed to have 500HP from the factory, but falls short. Stock isn't really that fast. This "could" be a sleeper since it's twice the rwhp vs stock. And I also agree that Z06 couldn't be a sleeper, but the GT500 isn't nearly as fast either.

The rear end in general is fairly strong, the clutch pack in the diff is probably the weekest part in it. The axles are 31 spline, and pretty damn good, but they too can break when you're talking 800+rwhp and slicks. The transmission isn't a T56, it's a T6060 and it'll take more power then the engine will, the clutch aside.
What is sleeper about a Shelby? A ford Focus with a V8 engine is sleeper.

And sorry but 03 Cobras are great, but they dont have the potential in the end that the 07-09 GT500s have.(only 220 lbs heavier) with more displacement . And a 92 VR4 is a joke ,,visually and performance wise , a friend had one modded. Im thinking you are 16 and a Mitsubooshi was all you could afford..Dont race a GT500 for slips boy, youll upgrade that mitsubishi to pair of chuck taylors and be walking..LOL!

.. The VR4 was light weight? VR4s curb weight 3700 w/ 0-60 mid 5s, GT500s is 3900 w/ 0-60 mid 4s. did you bother to look up anything before you posted?
Also the VR4s sold new for $40,000 - 50k depending on how they were equipt. and that was with 320hp. So you get $10k in mods total diff. to make 800hp. See with a GT500 it also does not cost as much to mod under 800hp because you never go into the block. So weight to hp ration goes to the Mustang - see prev. comment for handling!

In a way it could be a sleeper when you bring up the fact that it weighs in at a little over 3900 lbs and is supposed to have 500HP from the factory, but falls short. Stock isn't really that fast. This "could" be a sleeper since it's twice the rwhp vs stock. And I also agree that Z06 couldn't be a sleeper, but the GT500 isn't nearly as fast either.

The rear end in general is fairly strong, the clutch pack in the diff is probably the weekest part in it. The axles are 31 spline, and pretty damn good, but they too can break when you're talking 800+rwhp and slicks. The transmission isn't a T56, it's a T6060 and it'll take more power then the engine will, the clutch aside.
