American "luxury" cars are normally a hellava lot cheaper then the European cars. It's more of a spread the "luxury" to more people hence the lower price. Thats all it is folks.
@DjSpExZoNe It is that simple your logic is typical Little Englander, head in the sand, we are better then everyone else but haven't manufactured anything really in close to a half a century. The only European country producing anything of quality is Germany and you can't ride on their coattails. Besides, the difference between the highest octane in the US and UK is only a couple of points difference. Not only that, octane is measured in Europe differently and if done the same it would be less
@DjSpExZoNe When you act like a little Englander and come across as a know nothing asshole what is someone supposed to assume. Only little Englanders try to claim that Americans did not create themselves and try to pass the credit off when it was the Europeans who got off the boat that were the only ones against the American Revolution. Now that just goes to show the arrogance of Europeans. Now why not sell yourself out to the bankers. Oh wait you did and its why Europe is bankrupt!
@DjSpExZoNe I know what I am talking about. You obviously don't know what you're talking about. It is a now proven fact that the bankers who own you and Europe planned for everything at Bilderberg that is going on there. It came out in their own documents, those of the G20, and the IMF that they were selling Europe on the Euro to use it to implode the economies there and take over. It is a fact that those same bankers are trying to implode our economy here. Goldman Sachs is a European bank btw.
@DjSpExZoNe How did the Euro work out for you? Not well considering every nation has been driven to bankruptcy by the bankers who control it with the exception of Germany which has managed to hang on but won't be able to for long bailing your sorry ass out. How is it working out now that those same bankers are demanding control of Europe unified into one state they control? Not well again. And we are the arrogant stupid ones when we at least still own our country unlike Europeans!
@DjSpExZoNe If you looked I already answered that in response to linkmaniaaa. Americans invented Americans. It wasn't the British arrogant tool because British did everything to try to keep us under their oppressive jack booted heels & got their asses handed to them. Those who helped to create the United States, meaning the Founding Fathers, were majority Americans because they were born on the North American Continent & their families had been here for generations. So STFU you little Englander
@DjSpExZoNe You are a complete tool. When the someone approaches your immaturity and know nothingness with maturity and facts, you act even more immature. You are a waste of space and your mother should have swallowed because the best of you ran down her inner thigh and it would have save the world from having to deal with such a moron.
@DjSpExZoNe Stupid reality shows come from Europe. Nearly every reality show on US TV came from the UK and Europe. You bring up World Rally Cross to knock America, which is pathetic, and so sad. We do know how to spell it just so happens we speak and write in American English not British English again a pathetic display of stupidity and ignorance. Our police are no better or worse then those of Europe like the Greek ones who are shooting innocent children. So wake up and get a clue.
@DjSpExZoNe You are such an ass. I bring up facts so you try to trash NASCAR. That is so sad and pathetically funny. I'll tell you what I am proud of when it comes to my country. I am proud that we aren't taxed to death like most of Europe. I am proud of the fact we have the inalienable right to bear arms and defend ourselves. I am proud of the fact this country bailed all of your asses out of WWII. I am proud of the fact that we have been the nation of innovation since the industrial revolution
Here is a video supposed to make Americans and our cars look bad but what about British Leyland. Their cars interiors, exteriors, running gear, and everything else about them was and always will be total crap. My uncle owned multiple MG's and none of them ever ran more then a week before needing major service. The interior would fall off like door panels, the rear view mirror, the gearshift knob, and I can go on. Top Gear proved that when they did their BL episode.
@TheSportCompact On Top Gear they always complain about British cars and their poor reliability (Jaguar and Land Rover are a few) But they're comparing America interiors to European ones. European doesn't solely mean British.
@JulianoRamirez I never said that European does mean British. I have been watching Top Gear here in the US now for over 5 years and it is rare they bash British cars. Hell they tried to say BL made good cars and had them fall apart around them. The Italians make cars and they make BL's look reliable with how crappy they are built. Mercedes until they got caught cutting corners had shit overpriced cars, which Clarkson commented on on the show ragging on them for making billions while making crap.
It's not only the american cars. They are just a consequence of a lifestile. Look at the cheap houses, food and infrastructure. It's all cheap bad qualitiy bs.
In the US "luxury" is a lot of fake chrome on the wrong places, bling, bling, all the bells and whistels, computer gadgets, lots of LCD or plasma screens, You name it!
A German "Premium" car in the midrange (Like the Audi A4) doesen´t have much of that!
Instead they have put a lot of energy to make every detail of the car as good as possible!
This video is very true, I used to drive my mom's Jeep Grand Cherokee 03' and I thought it was all right. Until I bought my Audi A4 and for a similarly priced car I couldn't believe the amount of detail in it compared the Jeep. Perfect example when driving the Jeep the steering wheel blocks the fuel and engine temp (I believe) gauges but in the Audi I can place the steering wheel at any height and all the gauges are visible. Not a big deal I know but it makes a huge difference.
@JulianoRamirez did you really just compare a jeep (off road inspired) SUV to an Audi A4 based on price? LOL. calm down there... at least the video made credible references. I'm not saying it will be better, but pretend to shop for a new car and test out the best Audi A4 you can find and then test out the best Cadillac CTS you can find and compare.
@silfocus84 Yeah I did, I don't see what the problem is. If you're trying to say off road inspired vehicles don't have good interiors looks at a Range Rover. And I used the Jeep as a reference to the Audi because Ive had a considerable amount of time behind the wheel of both.
@JulianoRamirez i just wouldn't label Jeep as remotely luxury... if you said the Audi's interior is much better than an Escalade, I would see the comparison.
@JulianoRamirez wow... i was not aware of that lol. i would never assume that to be remotely luxury. I'm sure you can get leather and navigation, but that still wouldn't pass as luxury to me. I'm not saying a Navigator can hold it's own with a Range Rover, but Ford doesn't pass their expedition as a Luxury car, they remold the outside and inside and you get the luxury Lincoln Navigator..... lol Jeep cherokee luxury... yeah, covered in mud...
i smiled when i saw one particular comment saying smth like "we americans invented all, and you (european) use what we have invented"....just wondering who "invented" americans....
@GameplayReviewerHD no no is not you, it was something like: we invented computers and all kind of stuff and if that wasnt happend you (european) will be in shit right now...something like that, the original comment was posted i think a month ago...i just read random comments. sorry for my english,
@linkmaniaaa uh... Americans invented americans, whether they were originally from europe or not... they are completely different and weren't remotely the same by the time automobiles were around...
@linkmaniaaa Americans invented Americans you idiot. It wasn't the British because British didn't want us to have our independence. Most of the Founding Fathers and those who fought for our independence were here for generations in North America which makes them American. So now that that has been cleared up your comment proves the ignorance of Europeans seeing the US has been the nation of innovation since the industrial revolution.
So where's the comparison to the amazing examples of English interior fit and finish that isn't in a car that costs 3-4 times as much as any of these?. (with the possible exclusion of the Escalade which is pretty much just an overpriced prettied up Tahoe/Suburban)
Don't get me wrong about Clarkson & Hammond I quite enjoy watching them, but their biases are legendary.
@sirstrongbad I don't think they mentioned anything about Britain having better car interiors, I believe they said Europe. And with similarly priced cars the Europeans do much better interiors compared to Americans.
@JulianoRamirez Similarly priced cars? There is no comparison in pricing. There cannot be because the same car no matter the manufacturer or nation of origin sells for less in the US then it does in the UK or the rest of Europe. Then on the note of different cars being compared, the cost of a Astra compact is far more then any midsize US or foreign car being sold here in the US.
@TheSportCompact Right well I live in Canada and the Jeep Grand Cherokee and the A4 were similarly priced in 2003. I don't care what the car costs in the UK.
@JulianoRamirez In 2003 Jeep was owned by Diamler meaning Mercedes and they couldn't shit at Chrysler without a German telling them it was okay to do so. So that means Jeep, Dodge, etc were technically German cars meaning European. We get the blame as Americans for quality with Chrysler products when the Germans were the ones setting setting standards and running the show. Now they are owned by Fiat meaning still technically European and we are still going to get blame.
I'm not sure what people expect. I see no real difference between the dashboard in a Ford, or in a VW or a Subaru. You don't hold on to the dashboard anyway. They're all the same ABS plastic. Except, any quality of plastic would improve on whats in my Dodge truck which are notorious for having eggshell strength plastic that cracks just from age. Theres actually a gaping hole in the top of mine. It's mechanically very reliable but the interior almost makes you think it was designed to come apart.
I remember back in -99 when I went from Sweden to Texas with a couple of friends. At that time there was some kind of "price war" on gas, one day the price went (as I can recall) down to $0.79 a gallon!
I remember us discussing about why we got an economical rental......(Chevy Lumina 3.4)
It easally gave us over 25 mpg......
Back to the interior stuff, the Lumina was very badly planned when it came to using interior space, and also badly put together. But i sure worked perfectly!
Correction: people who landed in Puerto Rico on November 19, 1493. Just because no american company is stupid enough to massively produce cars at 70,000-100,000 pounds. Doesn't mean they couldn't be successful. Ford never took a bailout, and to hell with your overpriced countryside touring ways.
they keep banging on about american cars... when the british don't really have a car industry at all lol but oh well. still waiting for my 392 hemi challenger.
Most people here don't really care about the quality of the interior, we see cars as something that gets us from point a to point b. The main problem with American cars isn't the interior, it's that they're only built to last a few years. That's why Japanese cars sell so well here.
Am I wrong in assuming that Europeans don't really use cars the way we do, for the most part?
This ugly ass british guy is always bashing on American cars. Yeah man, the interiors of our cars are cheap but we'll beat the shit out of you where it really counts, under the hood!!!
@ryanmxn haha not really i'm american and i know thats not true the only thing american cars are good at are going in a straight line for a 1/4 of mile. they are utter crap. i mean don't get me wrong they're good fun for a while and very memorable but they suck if you really think about it.
@ryanmxn my mom's punto can probabily out-lap one of those cadilacs. "Under the hood" stuff doesnt make your car corner better, or feel like it hasnt been made by monkeys.
Just as "CheapWannabe" writes, American cars are "dirt cheap"! But only in the US!
In the US a base V6 Mustang and the chapest VW Golf plays in the same price league.
In that case the Mustang is a good buy.
Over here in Sweden, different story! The same Mustang costs about 60% more than the VW Golf....And with the price we pay for the fuel here, the Mustang just can´t compete as a daily driver! And yes, some US cars has really improved on the interior stuff last couple of years!
we americans dont give a fuck if our dashboard feels nice to poke while we are driving. American cars focus on what matters... engine... drivetrain... sound... as long as the seat is comfy and the steering wheel feels good... we are happy. Thats why you retarded Europeans cant do anything right. Yeah the Germans do everything right except pick fights they cant win like poking a bees nest with a stick.
@thehoovah You're calling all Europeans retarded because American cars consistently have cheap interiors. Really ? Didn't your parents show you any love when you were a child or what exactly is your problem ? Inferiority complex much ?
@thehoovah Dude WTF? American cars focus on engine and drivetrain? Are you absolutely retarded? You're absolutely right about comfy seats & a steering wheel. Also the europeans don't get is how CHEAP (when compared to income) cars are in America. The car is a very very different beast. But engines and drivetrains are NOT the focus in US. Don't make shit up. We are lucky to have amazing cars like a mustang for a silly 23k, dirt cheap. But it's engine is not efficient & drivetrain not special.
@JoblessGuydotnet : I agree they are getting better. FORD is doing a better job with interiors and fit and finish. I am guessing its the new CEO from Boeing that's taking the best from it's other brands like Volvo and other brands and incorporating their best into the FORD's. Lets hope the improvement continues.
@TechCrazy I agree. New Caddy's & Fords have really taken it up a notch. But then also Asian market & some Germans (looking at you VW) cheapen theirs up. We're going for this bland medium I have to say.
Swore I wasn't going to respond again but can't help it.No I'm not old enough to remember the war but I'm patriotic enough to remember what all those brave men did for their country Mr. brucehump probably humping another bruce.Bruce is a queer name you know. That's another thing,Fags. We ought to start beating the shit out of them again!!!!!!!!
Way back when cars used more metal in the interiors, the quality was damn near bulletproof. It can be difficult to create a solid-feeling, quality made interior and still keep the cost down when you use more plastic
All this video shows is that Americans dont have a stick up there ass. See, in America, you can take $30,000 and buy a 400+ horsepower racecar. To buy something that fast in Europe you'd have to pay 100,000k+, because it's got nice plastic, and computers that scratch your ass. Europe needs to learn from America, and keep it simple, cheap, and fast
@timkill5 No we definitely, definitely don't. I just came back from Las Vegas where that philosophy is implemented not only in cars but in buildings, the way people dress, in food, etc. I felt sick of it after one day but I had to stand a fucking week in that rat hole. Coming back to Europe, I've never been so appreciative of class, culture and life-style. Those things do really matter. Danke Europa für alles!
@timkill5 Its all about standarts... At least you can´t compare european and north american automobile industry. Its starts with fueal prices. Here in Europe a Liter of gasoline is 1.65 Euro that is 2.25 US Dollars. You pay maybe 0.85 Dollars for a Gallon that is 3,78 Liters so one Gallon would you cost 4,95 Euros that is 6,75 Dollar. So here in Euroland a car is not that cheap as in the US so people expect a bit more as fuel wasting mostermanic engine in an 6000 pounds SUV
notice these motherfuckers always bash american made cars... but its still a good show, european cars look like they are from the 4th century aleast the U.S.A has up to date cars. assholes
@sotuph Nope the ZR1 which is powered by a supercharged 6.2 V-8 with 638 horsepower, producing about 604 ft-lbs of torque, thats what i call an up to date car.
@cud0s Ok first Yeah i am a Patriotic American and before you say something stupid learn the words to use that actually make your sentence understandable. Now go back to butt raping your crossiants, you european queer.
@NYPD265 Not sure you're looking at the same cars I am. In fact the USA currently is making the least futuristic cards in both styling and technology. That may be down to cheap fuel, and yes it is still cheap comparatively speaking. I think you may need to do a little more research before making such a sweeping statement. May I suggest looking at some cars from outside of the USA, careful though it is a big big world out there with many scary things in it.
@NYPD265 when you run out of arguments you simply criticize other people grammar and blindly stick to your own illogical opinion. Pathetic. And nothing wrong with @TheBrucehump spelling here.
@NYPD265 coming from someone who can't spell you? Oh boy am I so offended. By the way let's try and keep on track we were talking about car interiors, if we want to discuss spelling more than happy to do so old boy, admittedly not one of my stronger points.
@NYPD265 That additional d is obviously my downfall. It was so stupid of me to question such a superior being as you. I have one last question, I do realize you have an issue with "u" but could you please explain what "Actaully" and "Bristish" mean, as spelling now seems to be the topic of conversation, rather than the poor build quality of American car interiors. Just for the record I drive an F150 and live in northern Illinois, just in case you thought the British thing was an insult to me:)
@TheBrucehump Then why are YOU agreeing that all American cars' interior sucks? Normally someone that lives in the U.S would stand of for their country, that makes no sense whatsoever and @myusernamemel you proabably are humping another bruce or you're getting humped by bruce, and bruce is a chester name, you should have got that changed as soon as you turned 18.
@NYPD265 I should agree even though it's not true? I would like to see American cars improve on their interiors, if like you, I agree then the car manufacturers will never learn. Quality in business is not about patriotism, why do you think you don't see many American cars in any other countries, or perhaps you haven't travelled.
@TheBrucehump I have traveled, ive been to Dubai once and i saw a few american cars that looked ridcliously stupid like the tahoe, avalanche and a few others here and there.
Spent some years installing car stereo systems in all kinds of cars, guess my opinion about American interiors! They are with a few exeptions cheap to the bone, period!
There are crappy Euro and Jap interiors too, but they are usually far better than the US ones.
Build quality and reliability isn´t the same thing though!.
My daily driver is a -93 Crown Vic with over 200K miles, runs like a champ!
So true. My uncle had a 2002 Cadillac Escalade. It looks so ancient and ugly!! My dad's old 2003 Toyota Sequoia still looks fresh and modern (well at least not outdated). The top part is made of a bit of plastic, but nothing is flimsy. Not one bit.
generally american cars do have poorly made interiors. Im a japanese car fan and not all japanese interiors are good, in fact alot are crap. but look at the fiat 500, Italian and the intirior is made of garbage dangling wires weak plastics and seats found in a fast food resteraunt. Every coumtry has a guilty party, but if you love it you will look past its faults
by reading the comments here I've figure out one thing. In europe all amerian cars broke down and in america all foreign cars broke down. WIERD! One argument though: What car has gone the longest distance? A Volvo p1800 has gone 4 506 160 km
The new generation of American cars are much better. Toyota Camry still held up fine against New Fusion or New Malibu. But Mazda 6, VW Passat America, Honda Accord, or even the Hyundai Sonata look much cheaper than Fusion or Malibu.
Joke is on Europeans and Japanese, our interiors weigh less. You can have all the luxury you want, but you'll be having it while you're looking at a set of American tail lights.
@toker1124 The reason an American performance production car would break down within say, 100,000 miles is because of the owner not knowing how to properly maintain his vehicle, not changing to oil on time, not letting the engine warm up before hard use, stupid shit like that. Then there's the occasional freak accident but every auto manufacturer has engines fail, no engine lasts forever. Nothing from any other country can compare to custom engines from Nelson Racing Engines though, nothing.
@SirKowalski666 The same owner placed in any Japanese car would keep the car running fine. My mom manages to do it. And she doesn't even get her oil changes done on time.
@92CamryLE Pshhht please, the old mans got a 4x4 supercrew F150 4.6L that we've been beating the shit out of for 20k miles now, went from Louisiana to California and came back carrying 5 thousand pounds of stuff, all within four days, went to Texas and came back with a big block/trannie/heads etc, it was nothing, every time I drive it I floor it a few times, it's JUST now getting broken in lol the only American car company with quality problems is GM but their aftermarket race stuff is solid.
@92CamryLE Ford 4.6 liter v8's routinely see half a million miles...just the other day I got a cab home from a bar (crown vic 4.6) and it had 620,000 miles on it, on the stock engine, never rebuilt, was running great. I could tell, i've been around engine my whole life, it sounded just like the old mans 4.6 truck motor.
@HIntegra95 I got a 1973 Plymouth Fury hardtop coupe that runs 11's without boost or nitrous, i'm fine with that. The funny thing is, it weighs less than a GTR. I'd rather have a Lotus Elise with a Ford 5.0 instead of a GTR anyway, talk about power to weight ratio lol
@Jimpank90 Because we're the best at making pulling power...otherwise known as torque. It more than makes up for the difference. Doesn't mean our interiors aren't lighter, because they are...it just means people like to add a bunch of bullshit when buying a car, like sat nav bluetooth massasge seats t.v. screens all that shit, which I don't care for because all it does, in my eyes, is add weight.
I'm a proud American but I must completely agree. In terms of the interior build quality of a lot of our cars we have a lot of catching up to do. The last auto-show I went to in 2011, I was mostly impressed with the interiors of the Ford lineup. The exteriors still contain the gaudy chrome mirrors, grills, and wheels but many of the interiors were pretty upscale like several of the Japanese and European manufacturers. I believe our market standard is low and there is a lack of pride in work.
This is definitely true, up until recently. The brand new Chrysler 300, and Dodge Charger for example. The updated CTS, the interiors on the new F-150, RAM, and so on. Interiors have vastly improved the past couple years.... At the same time as the 2012 Civic got a shit interior, and so did the 2012 Jetta. Sigh.
as of now a lot of american cars have way better interiors, the only major exception are really cheap cars because plastics are needed for cost efficiency, but even then most now look okay
@PaganWitchDoctor just calling them like I see them, fords are doing a really good job of it, and the interior of my malibu ltz is really nice design wise, and it has pretty high quality materials too
@ckmacboy You just summarized why people think american cars have decent interiors. They don't. They might have started to look better... but they still feel like shit. They give so easily, they don't fit well, and they are generally ugly looking. Try getting into something in the middle area from europe: Try a new Jetta, Megane, 159, etc... and tell me what american car in the same class feels the same inside.
@bliss0512 yeah, I'm not disputing that European cars generally have better interiors, I's a fan of volkswagen, the new Jetta is really good especially for the money... but in the last couple years, there have been massive improvements from most companies, and they continue to improve because they're finally starting to take cues from the european auto makers
I actually agree with this to a point. The UAW workers increased the cost of labor to almost twice of their european or Japanese counterparts. That along with the fact it is extremely difficult to fire union employees regardless of job performance. So cheaper materials and lower quality work ensued. That being said there is a great deal of creativity and brilliance in America. We've unfortunately have stifeld it with politics, beurocracy and entitlement.
The only worse problem that American cars have with interior is crappy headliners and power buttons markings wears out fast, Ah well i still will drive the American made beast, over Euro or Jap
It's not that its american it that the big three went to doing everthing as cheap as they could and forgot about competing. That is why this cars went down hill after the early seventies till now when it seems they got rid of the old management and their ways. As for trucks chevy made some of the most duriable farm trucks there are and also why they are better of crude and simple for that sake.
simple explanation for the uk guys that hate on most american cars / trucks / vans: over here in 'merica, 95% of us see cars as appliances that get us from A to B in reasonable comfort and with all of our shit. 3% of us like our cars / trucks to have massive power, ability, or customization, and then there's the 2% that want pure luxury and european / japanese precision.
and then there's a tiny few of us that like owning 2 jaguars; one to fix and one to drive while the other's being fixed
The thing is though America is not the only people that use plastic. So does Japan and countries in Europe. They also use plastic on their dashboards etc.
Until the last few years, American cars interiors have been sub-standard. American companies in general are more about flashiness instead of quality when it comes to their sports cars and muscle cars. "Quantity, not quality", has been our motto unfortunately. This is what destroys this country. Politics and "quantity" instead of quality. Just go to a Shell gas station. Shell is a huge company, but every gas station they run is falling apart or not managed well. Hopefull this will change.
American "luxury" cars are normally a hellava lot cheaper then the European cars. It's more of a spread the "luxury" to more people hence the lower price. Thats all it is folks.

There simply is no such creature made in the US!
But I guess they make what´s asked for........
campingkillen 1 day ago
This video is very true, I used to drive my mom's Jeep Grand Cherokee 03' and I thought it was all right. Until I bought my Audi A4 and for a similarly priced car I couldn't believe the amount of detail in it compared the Jeep. Perfect example when driving the Jeep the steering wheel blocks the fuel and engine temp (I believe) gauges but in the Audi I can place the steering wheel at any height and all the gauges are visible. Not a big deal I know but it makes a huge difference.
JulianoRamirez 2 days ago
@JulianoRamirez did you really just compare a jeep (off road inspired) SUV to an Audi A4 based on price? LOL. calm down there... at least the video made credible references. I'm not saying it will be better, but pretend to shop for a new car and test out the best Audi A4 you can find and then test out the best Cadillac CTS you can find and compare.
silfocus84 2 days ago
@silfocus84 Yeah I did, I don't see what the problem is. If you're trying to say off road inspired vehicles don't have good interiors looks at a Range Rover. And I used the Jeep as a reference to the Audi because Ive had a considerable amount of time behind the wheel of both.
JulianoRamirez 1 day ago
@JulianoRamirez i just wouldn't label Jeep as remotely luxury... if you said the Audi's interior is much better than an Escalade, I would see the comparison.
silfocus84 1 day ago
@silfocus84 I wouldn't call it luxury either but Chrysler seems to think it is and I find that amusing.
JulianoRamirez 1 day ago
@JulianoRamirez wow... i was not aware of that lol. i would never assume that to be remotely luxury. I'm sure you can get leather and navigation, but that still wouldn't pass as luxury to me. I'm not saying a Navigator can hold it's own with a Range Rover, but Ford doesn't pass their expedition as a Luxury car, they remold the outside and inside and you get the luxury Lincoln Navigator..... lol Jeep cherokee luxury... yeah, covered in mud...
silfocus84 1 day ago
@silfocus84 No, he compared general interior quality in a higher-end american luxury suv, and a lower-end german car.

To be proud of your country is good patriotism.
Calling people from other countries names is BAD and STUPID patriotism!
In 1820 USA had the same population as Sweden has today! After that people came to the US hoping to get a good life, some did, many didn´t...

GameplayReviewerHD 3 days ago
@linkmaniaaa uh... Americans invented americans, whether they were originally from europe or not... they are completely different and weren't remotely the same by the time automobiles were around...
silfocus84 2 days ago

Don't get me wrong about Clarkson & Hammond I quite enjoy watching them, but their biases are legendary.
sirstrongbad 5 days ago
@sirstrongbad I don't think they mentioned anything about Britain having better car interiors, I believe they said Europe. And with similarly priced cars the Europeans do much better interiors compared to Americans.
JulianoRamirez 2 days ago
@JulianoRamirez Similarly priced cars? There is no comparison in pricing. There cannot be because the same car no matter the manufacturer or nation of origin sells for less in the US then it does in the UK or the rest of Europe. Then on the note of different cars being compared, the cost of a Astra compact is far more then any midsize US or foreign car being sold here in the US.
TheSportCompact 1 day ago
@TheSportCompact Right well I live in Canada and the Jeep Grand Cherokee and the A4 were similarly priced in 2003. I don't care what the car costs in the UK.
JulianoRamirez 18 hours ago
@JulianoRamirez In 2003 Jeep was owned by Diamler meaning Mercedes and they couldn't shit at Chrysler without a German telling them it was okay to do so. So that means Jeep, Dodge, etc were technically German cars meaning European. We get the blame as Americans for quality with Chrysler products when the Germans were the ones setting setting standards and running the show. Now they are owned by Fiat meaning still technically European and we are still going to get blame.
TheSportCompact 18 hours ago
I'm not sure what people expect. I see no real difference between the dashboard in a Ford, or in a VW or a Subaru. You don't hold on to the dashboard anyway. They're all the same ABS plastic. Except, any quality of plastic would improve on whats in my Dodge truck which are notorious for having eggshell strength plastic that cracks just from age. Theres actually a gaping hole in the top of mine. It's mechanically very reliable but the interior almost makes you think it was designed to come apart.
desertfox2020 6 days ago
I remember back in -99 when I went from Sweden to Texas with a couple of friends. At that time there was some kind of "price war" on gas, one day the price went (as I can recall) down to $0.79 a gallon!
I remember us discussing about why we got an economical rental......(Chevy Lumina 3.4)
It easally gave us over 25 mpg......
Back to the interior stuff, the Lumina was very badly planned when it came to using interior space, and also badly put together. But i sure worked perfectly!

All this video shows is that Americans dont have a stick up there ass. See, in America, you can take $30,000 and buy a 400+ horsepower racecar. To buy something that fast in Europe you'd have to pay 100,000k+, because it's got nice plastic, and computers that scratch your ass. Europe needs to learn from America, and keep it simple, cheap, and fast
timkill5 2 weeks ago
@timkill5 No we definitely, definitely don't. I just came back from Las Vegas where that philosophy is implemented not only in cars but in buildings, the way people dress, in food, etc. I felt sick of it after one day but I had to stand a fucking week in that rat hole. Coming back to Europe, I've never been so appreciative of class, culture and life-style. Those things do really matter. Danke Europa für alles!
johanwinston 2 weeks ago
@timkill5 Its all about standarts... At least you can´t compare european and north american automobile industry. Its starts with fueal prices. Here in Europe a Liter of gasoline is 1.65 Euro that is 2.25 US Dollars. You pay maybe 0.85 Dollars for a Gallon that is 3,78 Liters so one Gallon would you cost 4,95 Euros that is 6,75 Dollar. So here in Euroland a car is not that cheap as in the US so people expect a bit more as fuel wasting mostermanic engine in an 6000 pounds SUV

TIMTEBOWNER 2 weeks ago
@toker1124 The reason an American performance production car would break down within say, 100,000 miles is because of the owner not knowing how to properly maintain his vehicle, not changing to oil on time, not letting the engine warm up before hard use, stupid shit like that. Then there's the occasional freak accident but every auto manufacturer has engines fail, no engine lasts forever. Nothing from any other country can compare to custom engines from Nelson Racing Engines though, nothing.

MisoJDM1 3 weeks ago
This is definitely true, up until recently. The brand new Chrysler 300, and Dodge Charger for example. The updated CTS, the interiors on the new F-150, RAM, and so on. Interiors have vastly improved the past couple years.... At the same time as the 2012 Civic got a shit interior, and so did the 2012 Jetta. Sigh.

I guess it comes down to what you're buying for...luxury or performance. I choose the latter.
