Hey, have you guys seen these " May The Best Car Wins" ads in Time Magazine and other magazines!! It is a huge lie, and sadly, many people will be fooled by it.
For example, Gm says may the best car win, and you know what car are they comparing?
The worst Camry ( Le version) vs. the best Malibu (LTZ Version) !!! LOLOLOL I felt like smacking them in the face, those cheap filled with lie commercials
! lol No way I will buy GM with that kind of cheap marketing. So, make respectable cars plz.
may the best car win? American cars already lost like 10 years ago, what are they talking about. Fantasizing about still being in the game when you already lost 10 years ago.
@RickStylus@RickStylus Opinions are like assholes. You'll probably show your ass hole to everyone whw doesn't care to see that either though. Don't like GM? Go flaunt your German or Japanese car on their videos where you'll blend right in with the rest of the suckers pissing and moaning about not having jobs in this country.
@SmashBrosBrawl you can say whatever you want then keep yourself onto a silly infatuation; fact is: since last year GM is a DEAD company and it cars are just crap Corvette included.
No, it ain't bitch. Audi r8 beats the shit out of it, and go watch the Top Gear episode Viper vs Audi r8, sorry, it stinks on the track and top speed.
Excuse me, but did you just totally forget about the BMW m6? m5? Ferrari cars? Lambo's? Aston Martin's? Porsche's?
Sorry, but America has and will always loose its automotive talent. You have no more engineers coming out of you colleges, they all want to flip burgers at McDonald's/
Listen to this, this is how what top gear Britain said about some Renault car," This Renault is the only full plastic body car to sell successful except for the corvette zr1 " See, WHO THE FUCK, sells a sports car with all plastic body? Thats why its so cheap, its fucking unsafe and PLASTIC.
And why the fuck are you pigs racing on the Nuremberg, thats in Europe? Go race on your boring as hell NASCAR tracks for redneck lol.
There is a difference between plastic and fiber glass, in case you didn't know. The Corvette is as safe if not safer than any other car in its class, it is also in no way cheap.
Lol, then you are a total idiot. There are different grades of fiber glass, the Corvette is not made out of the same grade used to make boats lol but it is fiberglass. Typical Euro idiot, Top Gear is your primary source of information but hey its about as scientific as most of your inferior European universities and your idiotic "facts".
Thats cool at least you can admit your wrong, sometimes. Glad you finally admit to the fact it isn't plastic, what did you have to go ask your boyfriend?
They aren't smarter over all that is why they are ranked lower, US schools are harder to get into and produce a higher level of education, they also turn out a far larger amount of researh material. Hell, last year the University of Mississippi (not a fantastic American school) produced more total research output (in dollars) than the eniter nation of Spain. Sad you Europeans have to lump yourselves together to compete with the US, a sign of your inferiority complex.
Lol, your so stupid it's funny. The states are not countries, you must have missed that when you were going to that substandard state run school of yours. An American state is in effect like a province, again you probably don't understand that. Spain is one of the big boys in Europe and it can't compete with Mississippi who is number 50 out of 50 US states in almost every category. Particle physics? you mean the stuff pioneered at Harvard, same for Nuclear research.
Harvard did not pioneer anything but a Christian missionary school in the olden days and a few very good business majors I agree.
ITER is the worlds BIGGEST science experiment, We are also working on stage III nuclear reactor designs which will improve Stage II by 200%, we are also working on renewable, and have the best clean diesels.
US hates nuclear, shows up in your paltry research.
Again, it is sad that you are this stupid. The average Ameircan has a far larger purchasing power than the average EU citizen. In spite of the fact that the average income is lower, the avergae American can keep more to spend wherever they want. It is called taxes and inflation, Europe is drowning in them, the US isn't.
The United States has a lot of debt sure, but as a percent of our GDP is is lower than the PIIGs (Portugal, Ireland, Italy, Greece) our debt to GDP ration is middle of the pack. I love it when stupid Europeans show off what sheep they are, you have high taxes which translates into fewer choices that you get to make with what you earn. Congrats somebody else runs your life and your proud of it, dumbass.
Eat what? The fact that the United States has the most advanced medical system on the planet? The fact that the United States is at the forefront of medical research? The fact that the United States has a far greater patient doctor relationship (as voted on my the multitude of people who travel to the United States for healthcare every year). Worlds best is a titel you people made up to feel better about drowning in taxes to pay for other peoples mistakes.
@BamFor07 I cannot say anything to that because. France is rated with he WORLDS BEST health care. This ranking is fairly recent, only 1 or 2 months ago. And its practically free. We are not drowning in taxes. I love it when Americans talk about taxes; it is for the good for us. I know why Americans think tax is evil, its OK, you people revolted because of it in the 1700's. Pity you hold old grievances. As i said before, EU has the highest happiness ratings.
@SmashBrosBrawl Motor Trend Magazine has run three comparison tests (see July/October, and August 6(first gen)issues)involving first the CTS-V vs. the RS4, then vs. the BMW M5 (July), and the Jaguar XF-R (October), with the CTS-V winning against the M5 marginally and Jaguar but losing to the Audi. Another comparison, involving the Mercedes E63 AMG, was set in January, the CTS-V lost to the E63 AMG on the basis of the E63 being more refined, sharper, and showed high quality overall.
@SmashBrosBrawl Edmunds tested the 2009 CTS-V against the similarly prices Mercedes-Benz C63 and BMW M3 with the CTS-V winning (November 26, 2008). Road and Track tested the 2009 CTS-V against the Jaguar XFR on June 10, 2009 with the Cadillac winning. Car and Driver tested the 2009 CTS-V against the 2010 Jaguar XFR and 2010 Mercedes E63 AMG in November 2009 but losing to the Mercedes.
BEAT THAT BITCH, just as i said, AMERICA CANNOT MAKE COMPETITIVE CARS.
When people think of a good car they don't think of copy cat CTS'V's. I mean look AT IT, it has features that European car companies INVENTED.
Go flip a burger at McDonald's, the only American product worth using.
lol, American cars are basically big engines mounted on 4 wheels, NO REFINEMENT, NO LUXURY, NO DRIVERS CAR. JUST A CHEAP MERCEDES FOR THE AMERICAN FOOTBALL STAR WHO DOESN'T KNOW BETTER.
EVEN JAPANESE CARS ARE BETTER NOW, NEW INFINIT M, THE NICE SHIT.
European cars incorporate a lot of technology American car manufacterers invented, you know things like air bags (GM 1974), high compression V8 (GM 1949), automatic transmission (GM 30's), clashless manual transmission (GM 30's), first onboard computers (Cadillac 1978), cylinder deactivation (GM 80's) traction control (Oldsmobile 1968), automatic headlights (Cadillac 1957), I could go on but you get the point. Oh by the way Cadillac pioneered digital fuel injection.
Actually the list doesn't but of course your ignorant your a European and a product of an inferior higher education system. ABS brakes first appeared on a Chrysler in 1971, Xenon headlamps at least as they are today were introduced by Lincoln. The Carburateor was an invention that went on the first 4 cylinder engine, Cadillac. Differentials? why bother your wrong about that too. Sad you have to make shit up but Euro trash often have to do that.
@BamFor07 Nope, you are wrong about all of that. The BRITISH Jensen FF was the first with ABS. Xenon lamps were invented in Germany in the 1940's. The carburetor was invented by Karl Benz in 1880. FOOL. Audi invented the Quattro, worlds first AWD limited slip differential. You are sad. Because, you are TRAILER TRASH. lol, Euro trash, who cares, if I am Euro trash, what are you? Because EU has higher living standards than the US EAT THAT FOOL!
I'm not even going to argue or waste my time on this one, the facts are the facts take them or leave them. Either way you still don't have a clue what you are talking about. Europeans have a way over inflated sense of themselves, jealousy tends to do that to you people. Oh well, you hate us because we are better, very sad for you.
And Americans don't have an over inflated sense???
You got to be kidding me???
Tell me, how many time has an American president said this: " America is the greatest nation in the planet" WTF??? ARROGANCE!!!!! I have heard it said millions of times by pathetic Americans.
OR this : "Ruler of the free world" WTF????? That is very arrogant.
Seriously, Americans have borrowed so any things from EU and put an "AMERICAN SPIN" on it like
All the question marks int he world and your stupid talk makes me smile. True jealousy. Thats cool tell yourself whatever you need to in order to keep for killing yourself for being born in the old, and inferior, world. Jealousy is something Europeans will just have to deal with. The European Union is a joke, a group of jealous little kids that has to put themselves together just to be competitive, an omission of inferiority if there ever was one.
by the facts Americans are more likely to have a college degree than Europeans are. 5 of the top 10 and 60 of the top 100 Universities as rated by the Times are in the United States. Most of our State schools are better than many national European schools. College is indeed free and inferior. A&M is not a very good University technically there are 63 "better" ones in the United States.
According to the 2009 census 33% of Americans had a college degree, why do you have to make shit up? According to the UN, 2010 US census, Forbes, the Times and several others, 35% of Americans have a college degree. According to the UN, EU, Forbes and the TImes, 27% of Europeans did. France was the most educated country and had a total percentage of just 31%. Why make things up? Those are simple facts.
If you include associates degrees, which is 2 year degrees, the number in the United States goes to 48% in the United States and 41% in Europe. The figures that I listed are the numbers for 4 year baculate degrees and higher. Quite arguing you only make yourself look more pathetic and jealous, it is a fact that Europe is less educated.
Oh and 323 of the top 500 Universities in the world. Face it Americans have a vastly superior higher education system. As you said in Europe it's free, free is synonomous with shit.
@BamFor07 Nope. EU health care is free. But, France is worlds NUMBER 1 in health care. I thought you said free was shit???WRONG Free schools===EU has better scores in all tests. And, no drop outs They are dumb we put them in a trade school. They can become a mechanic or technician there Helps them out from becoming a janitor In USA, you fail normal school, you flip burgers across the street EU most powerful economy 1//3 size of US, smaller pop, bigger economy than US ///M
Hmmmm. I choose.... HONDA! 5 start crash test ratings, Design, and build quality on certain models that I've found in BMW and if my Odyssey, or Fit or Pilot gets 1 MPG less then your Aveo, Traverse, or... oh, sorry- you had to scrap your minivans, I'll make it back at resale time. Guaranteed.
They were just following Japanese instruction manuals!
That is it for Toyota in North America now. Nobody will buy a Toyota for twenty years. American's are like elephants, they don't forget and 40% of them are overweight or obese.
Cadillac, Buick, Chevy, and GMC, are cars. I own two Cadillacs, a Buick Enclave, and a Corvette. They are what makes me proud to own a GM car, and never....not ONCE have they been brought to repair. I have had asian shit before, and the reliability, and fuel economy on them are a lie and a joke, and this comment isn't an opinion, it is a fact. It's a shame that asian car fan-boys...Ignorance is a such an asset that it must hold it's value well.
Remind me, how did the free market treated GM, which is effectively the voice of the customer?
Since GM is basically a zombie company with majority stake held by the U.S. Treasury as they went bankrupt from disappointing sales and egregious mismanagement, I'd say the customer has spoken: GM is uncompetitive and deserved to die for not changing anything that mattered for its own good.
Even in corporate culture, inbreeding kills the bloodline.
You know fenwayfan1, you can say whatever you like, but in the end the facts state otherwise!
Lexus is still going strong and had enough cash to fund a supercar development (LF-A). They are still the best value your money can buy.
GM is going bankrupt, can't innovate anything, and they barely had enough cash to pay for these ridiculous ads on youtube! And to top it off they are now 61% owned by the government.
So call Lexus whatever YOU want, b/c I don't care how stupid you make yourself look.
Well gms products are certainly out of the picture. Mentioning BMW and other prestige established brands??? And somehow gm is delusional thinking that this commercial will actually bring faith back to the people. Sorry gm hasn't learned their lesson with all their promises that still need to be delivered. Take a lesson from Ford they're proving themselves without all the bullshit.
The sad thing about your comment is, for instance, if you buy a Ford Fusion, you're telling Ford that it's perfectly okay to build cars in Mexico on a platform based on a design from Japan.
Don't just buy an American brand, but also consider the vehicle's parts content and assembly info in your decision. You may even have to consider where it was engineered.
If you want to buy American, be sure that it's put together in America and made with as many American component parts as possible.
Hold up there chief just think logically for a second. The big 3 are in danger of folding, so who cares where the car was assembled as long as it supports the company it helps Americans. Buying a Toyota built in Kentucky supports folks in Kentucky sure but profits from that operation are returned to Japan. It isnt about supporting working class over corporate etc its about American companies winning in the market place. Final assembly point is a small part of that.
How are Americans supposed to afford anything if they don't have a job to earn their money to buy something?
Furthermore, you buying an domestic that wasn't built domestically is telling the automakers that you support their decision to abandon American workers.
If you want goods made in America, then understand exactly what that means in an absolute sense! A product from an American brand made outside of America is not made in the USA, PERIOD.
That point of view is way out of whack. For the love of god a company is in business to make money. An American company that builds part of its line outside of the United States and is successful is far better for everyone than a broke company trying to hold onto jobs is. Get your head out of your ass and realize that these companies still build more cars here in the US with American parts etc than anywhere else. Also realize there is a reason Mexico makes economic sense its called the UAW.
The fact that the UAW in a way forces them to go outside of the country to make cars, is the very reason why American car companies are failing and will continue to fail. If you can't figure out why this is true, then you have some serious thinking to do.
If you think it is just the Unions that are the problem then you have a whole lot to learn. They played there part in the downfall but there is allot more to it, government regulation also played its part.
Fortunately, there are American vehicles that are still built in the USA.
While the Ford Fusion is still built in Mexico, the Ford Focus and the Ford Taurus are built in the USA. If you buy a Ford, vote with your dollars and buy only those Ford vehicles that were built here, thereby your money not only goes to an American company but ends up supporting American blue and white collar workers as well as telling Ford that the Fusion ought to be built in America as well.
Why are using words like "fortunately" and "still" are you meaning to suggest that the Big 3 are moving there workforce out of the US in droves? You might want to get some facts straight. American companies still build more cars here with more American parts than anyone else. The Big 3 are firmly rooted here and aren't going anywhere.
In other words, you're willing to nitpick on words rather than deal with the contention? How lame.
The point remains that American automakers have employed foreign labor and have used major component parts manufactured outside of the United States for their vehicles, with one egregious example being the Chevrolet Equinox which used a Japanese transmission and a Chinese engine depending on the model.
Sorry but I am not going to support the greedy auto unions ere in the USA. They are the reason that our manufactures are in the dumps right now. I am all for American products, but unfortunately unions force builders to cut too many corners in production and end up turning out crap like they have the past few years. I say let them fail and new and better builders will emerge.
Since America is about getting the best price on the best product, I choose Lexus!
"I say let them fail and new and better builders will emerge."
I don't disagree with that at all as that's how the free market is supposed to operate.
If you cannot be competitive, you die, leaving those better able to compete to serve customers whose demand set the environment for the uncompetitive to be snuffed out in the first place.
My main point are people buying an American brand car while beaming about patriotism but never buying a product that was actually made by American workers.
But, the reason why I find the point of buying an American-branded car that was made in Mexico or any other country outside the USA is the hypocrisy.
If you're buying an American car to support America, then your money is going towards paying American executives and foreign workers. Buy an American car that was built by shafting the American workforce: hypocritical patriotism.
However, if you bought the car because it represented the best value for your money, then that's another story.
I agree with you. However, buying an import is only an American's way of exercising his free will in a free market.
If Lexus makes a better sedan than Cadillac at a better price, then by all means I will buy that Lexus, because why would I support a shitty product simply because it was made in my home country?
When, not if, the Big3 fail, I know a new company will start. If they can make a better product at a good price, I WILL buy it, until then my money is going elsewhere!
To be fair, you didn't choose Lexus, the person who bought your car first chose Lexus. When you buy new you exercise your dollar vote, and you make a good point in regards to the free market, when you buy used you are operating in a different market. You are just a brand loyal tool.
'To be fair, you didn't choose Lexus, the person who bought your car first chose Lexus."
So, what? There are plenty of used cars by other manufacturers out there for "lexluthor400" to choose from. He may be choosing Lexus for his own reasons that nobody can really criticize without bias, including because a Lexus represented a best buy because of condition, what it offers, and the price.
If he had brand loyalty to Cadillac and said he would buy nothing but Cadillac, I can't help but figure that you wouldn't be calling him a tool, despite the same fixation to a brand that comes with the loyalty.
If anything, you're just as bad; he has loyalty to Lexus and you have loyalty to GM. To use your mode of thought, you're BOTH tools.
But, for some, that loyalty may have been earned by the automaker because of outstanding product and service.
Really depends on what you want. I admire GM's courage in putting this up. My first car was a GM, but I'm unlikely to buy from them again.
The Japanese, especially Honda and Toyota, are fantastically polished. Very reliable vehicles with excellent supplier/repair chains in North America.
The Germans provide vehicles that handle beautifully, perhaps especially Mercedes and Audi, not to forget BMW. None of them have the reliability of Honda/Toyota, however.
Further GM, how can you come to the rest of us to show "pride" in the North American car when you can't even be an honest broker with the other two jokers in the city of Detroit. Do you realize you show up in this video with the SLUMS right behind you? If you're so advanced, then the big 3 should have made Detroit a modern tech nirvana, not allow it to turn into a shithole .... /watch?v=T6WKMNmFsxM
I'm no supporter of GM in its current state, nor am I a supporter of any government bail outs as it just prolongs a long death. However, I think it's a bit unfair to say the big three alone destroyed Detoilet. I lived there for three years and can say from personal experience, that the government of Detroit is way to corrupt. That city does not have a prayer of becoming a modern city unless the citizens wake up and start demanding real social and political change. They won't.
Weak Madison Avenue social media campaign. Bottom-line, this is a Big 3 campaign (guess - GM). Here are the goods. I grew up with muscle cars but now love Japanese and German cars - style, reliability, quality. I "love my Acura" -- kind of how I "love my Apple products". I have never looked at a Ford or Chrysler and only GM's cadillac has impressed me with their design and quality to the point I might consider. GM - how can Detroit look so bad? watch?v=T6WKMNmFsxM
I believe the results will be based more on MARKETING success, rather than actual car quality. Just from what Madison Ave. shoves down our throat ... Volvo SHOULD hands-down be the safest ... Toyoto Prius SHOULD be the Most efficient ... the most beautiful is TOTALLY up to individual choice ... but if you are thinking about VALUE, hands down it is a HONDA! Just buy one and see!
ericbofcarsonc is an idiot....thats the problem with the average american car buyer today. they don't know anything about cars and believe anything that people like ericbofcarsonc say. GM makes amazing cars and anyone who believes that a manufacturer would build a car to break down in less than 100k miles is a moron. i have a trailblazer that hasn't been in the shop once, in 189,000 miles. go test drive a chevy, buick, GMC, or cadillac and find out yourself how they trump the competition.
GM could make amazing cars... but they don't- they design around a consumer that hasn't been there since the 50s and a parts bin that's convenient. Yes- they are easy to work on and as such can last a long time, but fit and finish? Designed to fit around the driver? Smooth fuel efficient engines? Nope... not there. Go sit in a European car or a Japanese car and then go sit in a GM. They can do it- they just need to have the will to do it.
Chevy does what most consumers would expect from an American brand. In my opinion, they are the best out of all American autos. Ultimately, I agree with Juliefey above this post here. However, no other American brand will get a positive post from me.
Yes we must deny the facts hide from the truth just like GM execs have done for forty years.... What can I say???? Make that Mitsubishi eclipse a Yellow GT with a a 6 spd gearbox, will ya!!!!! Sold!!!! Fuck you Detroit!!!!
In my personal opinion, Japanese cars are the best comparatively in all aspects. But I vote for the BMW as the best car, why ? maybe because it has its own looks, it sure is reliable and safe too; it all depends on a very diversified perception of every individual - can't really tell. In the end we can have only what we can afford :)
ratins go to those who can afford to buy tehm anymore. I will let time determine any change in amercan car company quality. ehll Id love to buy american but not at my own peril. those idiots in Detroit have only had 40 years of education on how to do things right. Classes were taught by both German and Japanese car manufacturers the writing has been on the wall for just about that long too (40 years), but when you are an illiterate dinosaur........
I will not look at gm even though they have the most fuel efficient car
GM hates its customers it is evident from the saddlebag fuel tank scandal the company had. All american cars are designed to break within 100 thousand miles. so it has to be a japanese car for reliability and over all performance.
I have to argue your point. I've owned several American-made cars and have reached or surpassed 100,000 miles on almost every one of them short of the one I purchased two years ago. I drove a Chevy Camaro to 160,000; a Saturn Vue to 110,000 (still going); a Ford Gran Torino to 105,000; etc... It looks to me you just don't know how to take care of your cars if you have that kind of luck with it.
What was the 'saddlebag fuel tank scandal'? Ford's 'exploding Pinto' I know about.
Ultimately, at least for me, the best car isn't one that's safest, has the best fuel economy, has the best style, or what not.
The best car is the one that comes from a manufacturer that I know I can trust.
The trust is gained if the car is not only quality-made and reliable but, when a problem does occur, the manufacturer does everything they should to help the customer preserve the value of his/her investment.
That trust is lost if the manufacturer and their dealers do the exact opposite.
bad car commercial... no wonder gm is bankrupt,,,

Most people are not buying cars made in US because:
Nowdays american cars are just crap, this fact is known by everyone around the whole world.
So, you won't make yourself a big favor by becoming a biased fool.
If you like US cars then waste your money and buy any.
Good luck with that!

Shut up American.
I am not gay.
Gay's are not tolerated like they are in America.
Right to marry??? Right to congregate???
You allow these human mutations to even exist???
Sadly, we must allow them to exist too, but we don't let them marry.
Very wrong, America is too liberal.
Pretty soon, the American president will be coming into his office wearing a pink tai dai and short shorts. Such informal behavior.

@BamFor07
EU universities may be worse in ranking, but at least we have much smarter people overall.
Just look at rankings.
US, last in developed countries Math, Science, and even Literacy????
slobhinav 1 year ago
@slobhinav
BamFor07 1 year ago
@BamFor07
Nope, makes perfect sense.
Isn't the United States a lump of 50 STATES !!!!! FOOL!!!! IDIOT!!!!!
Who cares about Spain really, they are still a very powerful country and a better place to live in.
You forget that Europe has a larger % of budget going into R&D.
We just have less large colleges to do the work.
But when we do experiments it is much grander than your pathetic "Plastics schools"
We have particle physics, nuclear research, all the big ticket items.
slobhinav 1 year ago
@slobhinav
BamFor07 1 year ago
@BamFor07
What the hell are you talking about????
Harvard did not pioneer anything but a Christian missionary school in the olden days and a few very good business majors I agree.
ITER is the worlds BIGGEST science experiment, We are also working on stage III nuclear reactor designs which will improve Stage II by 200%, we are also working on renewable, and have the best clean diesels.
US hates nuclear, shows up in your paltry research.

@BamFor07
US is also not very high in living standards compared to other EU members and.
Funny!!! New US census Bureau reports show that the biggest occupation in America is:::
STORE CLERK BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Plus.
You call us not scientific???
We have ITER, Galileo Satellites, CERN, etc, etc.
And the average income of a single in America is 45K
In Germany, (closest to Liechtenstein), it is 61K, Liechtenstein & Luxembourg are probably higher.
USA SUCKS!!!
slobhinav 1 year ago
@slobhinav
BamFor07 1 year ago
@BamFor07
Ummmm.
Last time I checked.
Which was 1 day ago.
US has the second highest debt of all the developed nations as a % of GDP. And the highest as a raw number.
EU is heavily taxed. But look at us, Denmark is the world HIGHEST TAXED country. But, their happiness is the worlds HIGHEST TOO. FOOL
I hate it when you Americans talk about taxes because you have no clue.
Our taxes translate to free services. That is why we have worlds best high speed rail, highways, bridges.
slobhinav 1 year ago
@slobhinav
BamFor07 1 year ago
@BamFor07
NOPE.
As of Fortune magazine of August.
The US dept as % of GDP is behind of Greece.
Then comes Italy, Spain, and Portugal.
Plus, EU doesn't have a negative trade balance like the US does.
slobhinav 1 year ago
@BamFor07
That is also why we have free health care and rated on average, WORLDS BEST.
EAT THAT !!!!
We do better on all educational subjects. Despite spending less per child.
In the US, you have low taxes. BUT NO SERVICES.
No rail, Health care is VERY expensive, university education is very expensive, everything is expensive as hell.
Except cars.
And all of that translates into===America having a relatively LOW standard of living and general happiness.
slobhinav 1 year ago
@slobhinav

Car and Driver tested the 2009 CTS-V against the 2010 Jaguar XFR and 2010 Mercedes E63 AMG in November 2009 but losing to the Mercedes.

Oh wow.....
EU:
Ant lock brakes. Hid, Xenon headlamps, INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE, the carburetor, true four wheel drive, CVT, pre crash response system, BLIS, diesel engines, differentials, first fuel injection analog, diesel engine.
The list goes on an on and beats American cars.
slobhinav 1 year ago

Actually the list doesn't but of course your ignorant your a European and a product of an inferior higher education system. ABS brakes first appeared on a Chrysler in 1971, Xenon headlamps at least as they are today were introduced by Lincoln. The Carburateor was an invention that went on the first 4 cylinder engine, Cadillac. Differentials? why bother your wrong about that too. Sad you have to make shit up but Euro trash often have to do that.

Europe has just lots of very good universities like your Texas A&M, we have no Bad universities.

Plus, in most EU countries, higher education is free!
slobhinav 1 year ago
@slobhinav
Don't need luck,
by the facts Americans are more likely to have a college degree than Europeans are. 5 of the top 10 and 60 of the top 100 Universities as rated by the Times are in the United States. Most of our State schools are better than many national European schools. College is indeed free and inferior. A&M is not a very good University technically there are 63 "better" ones in the United States.
BamFor07 1 year ago
@BamFor07
recent news from 2009 census for USA
only 29% of Americans have a college degree.
EU has above 35%
Who cares if you have the top universities, IF NO ONE USES THEM???
And the majority of those kids who go to college in the US go to paltry professions like::
Law, Medicine, business. (That is what they go to Harvard and Duke for).
Sadly, for you Americans who don't want to use math in careers. You will pay, as you are already, already, your patent numbers are declining
slobhinav 1 year ago
@slobhinav
BamFor07 1 year ago
@BamFor07
Wrong.
I came across that figure too.
But you just looked at teh layer.
If you look closely, it includes those cheap 2 year degrees in the US.
The EU has no 2 year degree schools
Unfairly inflating the % to US favor.
EU is still higher.
slobhinav 1 year ago
@slobhinav
BamFor07 1 year ago
@BamFor07
Ok, but degrees are all harder to get in Europe than in America.
I have been to America.Many, many times.
And is it not true that a person can get admitted into a 4 year college with a 2.8 GPA??
So easy to get into college. That is why, like I said!!!
EU has higher education ratings and test scores across the boards!!
People like EU much better than US.

Don't forget another one:
Remind me, how did the free market treated GM, which is effectively the voice of the customer?
Since GM is basically a zombie company with majority stake held by the U.S. Treasury as they went bankrupt from disappointing sales and egregious mismanagement, I'd say the customer has spoken: GM is uncompetitive and deserved to die for not changing anything that mattered for its own good.
Even in corporate culture, inbreeding kills the bloodline.

Watcher3223 2 years ago
Buy an American branded car that's not built in America, and you are just as bad as someone who buys an import.
If you're going to buy American, make sure it's also built in America with as many American parts in it as you can find.
Otherwise, you're just paying the executives but not the American working class.
Watcher3223 2 years ago
Hold up there chief just think logically for a second. The big 3 are in danger of folding, so who cares where the car was assembled as long as it supports the company it helps Americans. Buying a Toyota built in Kentucky supports folks in Kentucky sure but profits from that operation are returned to Japan. It isnt about supporting working class over corporate etc its about American companies winning in the market place. Final assembly point is a small part of that.
BamFor07 2 years ago
No, you hold up!
Watcher3223 2 years ago
If all you are concerned about are American companies winning in the marketplace, then by all means buy a Mexican made vehicle.
But you're supporting American companies that refuse to place the American people first.
Watcher3223 2 years ago
That point of view is way out of whack. For the love of god a company is in business to make money. An American company that builds part of its line outside of the United States and is successful is far better for everyone than a broke company trying to hold onto jobs is. Get your head out of your ass and realize that these companies still build more cars here in the US with American parts etc than anywhere else. Also realize there is a reason Mexico makes economic sense its called the UAW.
BamFor07 2 years ago
"For the love of god a company is in business to make money."
I never denied that and I know that a business is supposed to make a profit.
"Get your head out of your ass..."
This ends the discussion here and now.
I have not ever used any expletives against you, so your comment is totally uncalled for.
Until you are willing to proceed in discussing in a civilized manner, I will not discuss anything further with you.
Just in case you want to think you won, you've not persuaded me.
Watcher3223 2 years ago
Good for you, that Bamfor07 guy is seriously a joke!
lexluthor400 2 years ago
The fact that the UAW in a way forces them to go outside of the country to make cars, is the very reason why American car companies are failing and will continue to fail. If you can't figure out why this is true, then you have some serious thinking to do.
lexluthor400 2 years ago
If you think it is just the Unions that are the problem then you have a whole lot to learn. They played there part in the downfall but there is allot more to it, government regulation also played its part.
BamFor07 2 years ago
Fortunately, there are American vehicles that are still built in the USA.
While the Ford Fusion is still built in Mexico, the Ford Focus and the Ford Taurus are built in the USA. If you buy a Ford, vote with your dollars and buy only those Ford vehicles that were built here, thereby your money not only goes to an American company but ends up supporting American blue and white collar workers as well as telling Ford that the Fusion ought to be built in America as well.
Watcher3223 2 years ago
Why are using words like "fortunately" and "still" are you meaning to suggest that the Big 3 are moving there workforce out of the US in droves? You might want to get some facts straight. American companies still build more cars here with more American parts than anyone else. The Big 3 are firmly rooted here and aren't going anywhere.
BamFor07 2 years ago
In other words, you're willing to nitpick on words rather than deal with the contention? How lame.
The point remains that American automakers have employed foreign labor and have used major component parts manufactured outside of the United States for their vehicles, with one egregious example being the Chevrolet Equinox which used a Japanese transmission and a Chinese engine depending on the model.
Watcher3223 2 years ago
Sorry but I am not going to support the greedy auto unions ere in the USA. They are the reason that our manufactures are in the dumps right now. I am all for American products, but unfortunately unions force builders to cut too many corners in production and end up turning out crap like they have the past few years. I say let them fail and new and better builders will emerge.
Since America is about getting the best price on the best product, I choose Lexus!
lexluthor400 2 years ago
"I say let them fail and new and better builders will emerge."
I don't disagree with that at all as that's how the free market is supposed to operate.
If you cannot be competitive, you die, leaving those better able to compete to serve customers whose demand set the environment for the uncompetitive to be snuffed out in the first place.
My main point are people buying an American brand car while beaming about patriotism but never buying a product that was actually made by American workers.
Watcher3223 2 years ago
But, the reason why I find the point of buying an American-branded car that was made in Mexico or any other country outside the USA is the hypocrisy.
If you're buying an American car to support America, then your money is going towards paying American executives and foreign workers. Buy an American car that was built by shafting the American workforce: hypocritical patriotism.
However, if you bought the car because it represented the best value for your money, then that's another story.
Watcher3223 2 years ago 2
I agree with you. However, buying an import is only an American's way of exercising his free will in a free market.
If Lexus makes a better sedan than Cadillac at a better price, then by all means I will buy that Lexus, because why would I support a shitty product simply because it was made in my home country?
When, not if, the Big3 fail, I know a new company will start. If they can make a better product at a good price, I WILL buy it, until then my money is going elsewhere!
lexluthor400 2 years ago
To be fair, you didn't choose Lexus, the person who bought your car first chose Lexus. When you buy new you exercise your dollar vote, and you make a good point in regards to the free market, when you buy used you are operating in a different market. You are just a brand loyal tool.
BamFor07 2 years ago
'To be fair, you didn't choose Lexus, the person who bought your car first chose Lexus."
So, what? There are plenty of used cars by other manufacturers out there for "lexluthor400" to choose from. He may be choosing Lexus for his own reasons that nobody can really criticize without bias, including because a Lexus represented a best buy because of condition, what it offers, and the price.
Watcher3223 2 years ago
"You are just a brand loyal tool."
Watcher3223 2 years ago
Really depends on what you want. I admire GM's courage in putting this up. My first car was a GM, but I'm unlikely to buy from them again.
The Japanese, especially Honda and Toyota, are fantastically polished. Very reliable vehicles with excellent supplier/repair chains in North America.
The Germans provide vehicles that handle beautifully, perhaps especially Mercedes and Audi, not to forget BMW. None of them have the reliability of Honda/Toyota, however.
Can't comment more. Oh well

European is the way to go at the end of the day.

Except for the fact that ford has been rated just as reliable as toyota and honda.

That scandal only proved that Dateline NBC hates GM's customers. More aptly, it proved that NBC hates journalistic integrity.

The issue of fuel leakage from side-saddle tanks was, indeed, real.
However, it would be revealed that Dateline's "tests" were rigged with pyrotechnics. It provided sensation, but at the expense of journalism ethics.
