mallamoozoo, I swear I've seen you comment on a good 6 or 7 other Mark Webber videos making fun of him. Shit, at least he's out living his dream. You're sitting behind a computer telling him he's crap. Let's see you go do something as impressive as does every day you fuckwit.
Um - i beat him in karts and Formula Ford - i was better than him (not only me - at least 10 guys at the time (eg Garth Tander, etc - ie. guys who actually WON Titles for chrissake - Webber did fuck all!)- but we didnt have the rich daddy to "live out the dream" in Formula racing europe.
Or the dedication obviously. If you were half the racer Mark is you wouldn't be spending all your hours online trolling his videos. Suck it up, he's in the pinnacle of single seat racing and you're clenching onto victories in 1991-93. Mark was what, 14 when he was karting? He's done more than you have, and ever will. But if you wanna sit behind your computer and bag him saying you're better, who am I to stop you? Just realise nobody is ever going to believe it.
Half? I was TWICE the racer webber was at the time and also being far more intelligent (again like many others - he is genuinely thick! By his own admission in F3 days he was no good at technical understanding) I (and many others) would undoubtedly have been at least as good as him in F1. I have no doubt I would be leading the World Championship in his car this year.
No actually I did more - he never won an Australian kart title - i did - he never won a Formula Ford title - i did. What he did after that is irrelevant since i didnt have the money to keep kicking his ass in higher formulae - its money not talent that gets you up the ladder in motorsport! Never forget it pal!
Also I don't know what you're saying about "at least 10 guys" being better than him. You look at his career results and he has PLENTY of top 3 results in Formula Ford.
well he managed to win a formula ford festival and he inproved along the way if he was no good he would not be in f1 let alone have won a grand prix he has been in below par equipment and managed to compete with others who had better equipment so what if u beat him in his early carrer he developed as a driver and he might of had a little more money then u but he was not lewis hamilton having huge amounts of backing he had to work for it so get over it
finnishing third overall in your rookie f3 season pretty damn good and to finnish third overall in the formula ford euro cup when only competing in 2 of the three rounds a good job mark was able to get sponsors that where needed and get to know people that where able to hook him up with test drives and help him bring in finace so he had to work at it and has plenty of talent so to say that he got there because his dad was loaded is bull he was able to get the management and backing that u didnt

My original point was that he wasnt the best or most deserving talent in australia 15 years ago - there were a dozen (at least) guys of similar age who were clearly better and more deserving of a break to make it to F1. In any other sport - thats what happens - the most talented get recognised and supported - in motorsport its pure nepotistic business - who you know not how good you are. Just like James Packer and Laughlin Murdoch went straight to the Boardroom while others start as pissboy!
And the fact that he appears competent in F1 just makes it clear that most of the f1 field is similarly mediocre - look at all the names we have seen who are there because of their Dad's name - Villeneuve, hill, Rosberg, Piquet, Nakajima (probably soon Senna (nephew)).
Even in local V8s we have seen Johnson, Richards, Brock and a few others - not a single gokart or Formula ford Title between them - so why the hell are they there? If you cant see its a load of nepotistic bullshit you are blind!
well villeneuve won a championship against shumy so he had talent rosberg is talented pique and nakajima useless i would like to c daniel ricciardo in f1 and brendon hartley but i think that it's slowly changing redbull are offering drives to kids that otherwise would not be racing like hartly his parents still live in the suburbs he dose not come from money and i belive that this is the first season that there are no pay drivers in f1 so i think it is changing and redbull have played a part
well its what teams should have done 15 years ago - its too late for me now so i dont give a toss anymore - the system ripped me and my generation off completely - there are at least a dozen guys our agew in australia who are unknown (or at best V8 supercar drivers) who would have done better than webber in F1 - I am 100% certain of it - no doubts whatsoever.
For example Tander - he was far better than Webber in karts and Formula Ford. But no connections to get a gig in Europe. sure he's doing OK in V8s but it dont compare to Webber's 10 million a year salary does it?
webber had success in in europe he didnt hang around long in australia so mabey if he had stayed for a few years more he might of won titles he was very competative in europe look at the stats 3rd in rookie f3 season second year after he won the formula ford festival he managed to get resaults wile running on a small budget compared to others and he never hang around for long a few seasons then up catagory so he earned his drive and his talent played apart
i think we should agree to disagree i think he is a great driver mabey there where people back then that where better then him but he managed to get the backing and prove him self these days he is an ace driver also are u still involved with racing cause i just wont to know what the costs of formula ford are
Im not anymore - no money and forced to end it all - put it this way - even in 1995 to win an Australian F.Ford title you needed $150,000 (and as i said there are no real sponsors - just business associates of "dad" using it as a tax dodge (advertising costs whatever) - but noone ever genuinely gives someone they dont know $150 k to fang around a race-track.
In 1995 F3 was $750,000 a year. You can bet its gone up since then - probably $250 k for F.ford and over $1 mill for F3 .
yeah im think of gettin involved like i ride motorbikes but i would rather do open wheel racing the only problem is my dad is army so he gets paid well but we move around alot so yeah but i have freinds who work for mechanics and shit so might get some frebies but yeah it aint cheap there is a racing course u can take at tafe now and they teach u mechanics and u get to work with racing teams and stuff so yeah but there is better inforstructure so thanks for the info
If you want to do it as a hobby cool - if you want to make F1 - FORGET IT - your dad's army salary aint even close to what you'll need (I mean millions) to get to the top. You need a Dad with business contacts who will help out a mate - there are no genuine sponsors in australia - even if you have the talent of Schumacher. (Just watch the news - Webber may become the first Aussie F1 World Champ in 30 years and it will still be aired after a trivial story about a footy team's training session.)
The best thing to start with go-karts (at least 1 year, preferably 2 or 3 - I did 8, most F1 drivers did up to 10.)
It is a MUCH cheaper way to get quick experience - you can do 40 laps per week, every week, for about $10,000 a year. Compared to formula fords which will cost minimum $50,000 (probably double that) to get the same number of laps under your belt.
Make karts 95% of your practice regime and do track days in F.Ford at about $500 per day. That will give you a rounded education.
By the way- if you race big bikes- Formula Ford will be boringly slow for you - about equal to 250cc production bikes. Karts (the top classes) are much much faster and more exciting and far more demanding- your skills will get razor sharp in fast karts- they are awesome (thats why F1 drivers often practice in karts- as Barrichello said once "Of course F1 is much faster than go-kart on the track, but in terms of brain speed it feels about the same." F.Ford feels like a sunday cruize in comparison
Because now F1 no longer requires manual gear shifts and the cars are so good now they handle like gokarts anyway - Im sure it is possible to transition directly for an elite level kart driver.
Correct mate- F.Fords are purely for a quick transition between karts and proper racing cars.
The seat position is more laid back and the front wheels lie in a different part of your field of vision- and of course manual gear shifts- but all minor stuff- just a few months needed to get comfortable with all that- what takes 5 years at least to learn well is proper driving technique - so spend a few years in karts and just a few weeks in F.F (then ASAP into F3 if you can also find BIG money)
my point is to get to the point where they get red bull support they would have put in $100,ooo to $250,ooo of personal family money - thats beyond working class families - its a sport for rich kids only, almost without exception.
yeah i know what ur saying but it seems as though the sport and teams are making it more affordable and teams have relised that there is alot of talent that can only go so far but to be a smart arse lewis and recardo only forked money out on karts cause we know the story with hamilton and recardo won a scholarship but they are the exeption i wish that the goverment put money into it like they do with other sports to make it more affordable and have ais motor racing scholarships
Mate - i wrote a 10 page sponsorship proposal / job application that took me 300 hours and heaps of money to put together (this was 94 - before PC's and printers - I had to get it done pro and cost shitloads) - and i sent it to absolutely every motherfucker in Australia and overseas - 320 companies' marketing divisions, AIS, every motorsport team in the book - 95% didnt even answer and the few that did said "NOT INTERESTED!"
Thats how i came to realize the world is totally corrupt!
The worst thing is you are sold the bullshit line in school to follow your dream and work hard at it and you'll get it - but its bullshit - you need MONEY!
it's frustrating u kinda need to team up with someone with a bit of wieght to through around kinda like mark with ann neal or i guess u could do what stoners family did sell all your stuff buy camper van and travel and c if u can get a break well my dads second cousin is loaded plays for hawthorn should ask my nan to talk to him cause they talk all the time lol but yeah by best chance is to win lotto
When i was 21 and still blissfully naive about the fact that if you really wanted it you would get it - i met Alan Jones at a touring car race and asked him, basically "My family aint rich but I am kicking ass in karts but got no money to go even to F.Ford - what do i do?" and he said point blank: "Not much you can do - heaps of guys have double mortgaged the house and ended up homeless"
i ignored him (didnt wanna face it) but realised years later he was right - its purely a money game.
well mabey i will get a job that will alow me to race and if not me my kids if i have any and they want to race cause i love all forms of sport but motor sport wins like the skill involved and it's just u and the machine and the adrenalin like i hope my business qualifications will get me into the banks but i would put as much as i have know into racing cause i love it if karting is all i can do so be it at the moment i do track days on my bike and well i want more
Well at 37 its over for me but Im not gonna put my son into racing because chances are he will be as good as I was (maybe even better if thats possible because i would be coaching him - whereas i learned it all myself) and then he will face the same wall - not rich enough - so basically FUCK IT!
But yeah you have the right spirit pal - it is just you and the machine - if you can keep your horizons there and dont dream of F1 then you can enjoy it - A LOT!
maybe u will win lotto and he can get the chance u didnt but u never know the worlds a funny place he could win a scholarship or something u never know but ur right just do it to have fun i guess if somethin comes of it then thats all well and good but dont hold ur breath maybe he will meet f1 boss like hamilton did lol u never know i want to do it for the fun of doing it and to compete and be the best i can im to old to make it to f1 anyway unless i do a takumo sato lol
yeah i just checked ur profile - sorry to say 20 is too old - you wont make F1 - but you can still have a great time in go karts. 9And never forget the words of the greatest F1 driver of all time - Ayrton Senna said "Go kart gave me a lot of pleasure - many times it was more enjoyable than my profession now in Formula 1"
For real, he said it - that is the all time King talking so if you really have the spirit of a racing driver - you can be happy in go-kart.
yeah the most go karting i do is at the hire place not as fast as i want to but im happy to hold lap records there though they mean jack because most the people that go there aint anything flash and peoplei race dont like me because in simple terms im like sato if there is tiny gap i put the kart there and they think im dangerous i tell them i dont care u need to pick the pace up lol but i live 10min from local kart club so travel time aint a prob if/when i join
yeah i know indoor means jack still fun but i want more i prob wont start right now lol cause im short of money cause thats what happens when cars crash in motorbikes lol stupid car driver so have to fix my bike and aint cheap lol but i will talk to my dad c what we can manage maybe i will get this job i applied for it worth 50 k a year
Well - there you go - if you have rellies that are loaded - they may help - (that makes you my enemy you rich bastard! (LOL joke) - but hell yeah - if you are that lucky - have a go - but if you ever make it - be humble enough to admit its a game that needs BIG money and a lot of good guys missed out!
might sound silly but my mum is welsh so i can get visa to uk if i want to race over there cause i think that would be a good experiance because the amount of people involved is through the roof like even just for the experiance not to try and make it
UK is the best place in the world to race- if you do happen to be good enough- there is at least some chance- very small but at least a sliver of a chance of getting sponsorship there- compared to australia where it is ZERO! (UK has had about 60 F1 drivers in past 30 years compared to Australia with just 2 (one - Brabham - just because his Dad was a World f1 champ - doesnt count - really Webber is the only aussie in 3 friggen decades - believe me it aint coz we didnt have the talent - bwe dDID!
By the way Villeneuve didnt win against Schumi- the Williams won against Ferrari and Villeneuve hapopened to be lucky enough to be in the seat - almost every driver on the grid would have won in that 97 Williams.
Villeneuve was shit in his F3 days and had he been a no-name he would have been ditched long before he made it to F1- but thanks to his name he was given endless opportunity to polish his act - after thus recieving far more seat time than he deserved he finally developed semi-competence
i don't think so! in my opinion it was a great idea to do a night race in formula1! other series like for example in america have this too... and it is great!
and the race-track is just a perfect city circuit. and like enzo said singapore is an efficient country. they will learn and the track would get better next year ;)
Singapore will improve on the track nxt yr. It will be a better race nxt yr.Trust me.Singapore is a realiable and efficient country. There will be more overtaking and modification to its road.
the Magnificent Spanish Red Bull,Champ, FERNANDO ALONSO won e First Singapore Grand Prix 28.9.2008
tQ Red Bull, Mark Webber for this beautiful ad!
@this very moment, this ad is on national t.v. broadcast- today & tomorrow,we'r having a repeat telecast
wow, bring it more to Singapore & i wl be watching U more often, everyone of U, looking out for our close neighbour, Mark Webber &e inimitable Fernando Alonso!
my sis whos seen U all think ur all gorgeous& ican only admire what brains u'v!
What a cool circuit, they race under the freaking grandstand! And the lights will be really cool. I know I don't really watch F1 but I think I'm going to tune into this race!
- Starting from 0:50; this is how F1 should be filmed! This simulation isn't overdoing the speed or exaggerating anything; the current coverage is from so far away that you get no sensation of speed or excitement. This is awesome.
I watched the MotoGP Qatar race and if that's any indication, this will be pretty similar.
"Night race", blah if it's not even dark! And like it was first time in history, CART has done it many times in lightning and sportscars have been driving in complete pitch black tracks since 1910s for fucks sake.
oh come off it. those of you who watch just f1 have no idea what a race is. you've got into that zone where you think 1 or 2 overtakes makes a race. they were nothing to what you get in gt racing, gp2, most club racing etc, let alone motorcycle racing.
Come off it???? WTF, Monza and Spa were great races. It seems to me you need hundreds of passes in a race to please you. To me lots of passing in a race means lots of mistakes and bad driving from the drivers involved.
We clearly have different views on what makes good racing, to me watching a 21 yr in a minnow team pull out a gap on a team with huge resoruces in the wet is exicting, this is something you or I could never achieve, but overtaking.....I do that everyday on the freeway.
Seriously? You're fighting everyday on the freeway with other cars at high speed who will be the first for the next corner? Damn.. where do you live? Sounds great!
I watch F1 for more than 15 years and I can tell you one thing; Some races are very exciting as Monza & Spa, but the most races these days not that interresting as it used to be. All the features these days on the cars resulting in less driverinfluence.
But F1 has to improve and go with the time. So get used to it!
F1 is boring compared to other racing because of 2 things: Rules that let the machines drive rather then the drivers (downforce, traction-control, brakin assist, etc), and too much money involved (makes the revard of taking a chance too risky/costly, so the drivers don't take risks).
So F1 ends up being a proceeding of who can throw the most money into it and who takes least risk.
Dude you don't know much about F1 clearly. You said F1 was boing because of traction control they DON'T have traction control, you've clearly just turned a blind eye to the fact you said that. Your funny coz you try and comment on things you know nothing about.
Mate, I owned up to them still having traction control. However, it still ist an argument against F1 being boring and not good racing. F1 involves too much money, drama, politics, while actual racing is poorly lacking. You can remain in your little cocoon, but I would recommend you to watch other racing and then maybe you would be able to talk about something you know.
Ask yourself why they are changing the rules? Because everything is great as it is?
The problem is that there are not many other types of races that are televised regularly. This means that people in general (not you necessarily) have a view that F1 is THE ONE AND ONLY BEST RACING.
The most obvious good alternative that comes to mind is the MotoGP (especially the smaller 125cc and 250cc classes). You have several position changes of positions several times a lap.
If you want car racing, you should have a look at BTCC or even go-cart racing!
With "actual racing lacking",I mean changing of position on the race track by virtue of braking/control/more guts.
Racing IMHO is not when they are going around a RACE track very VERY fast and not overtaking, but changes of position happens because someone has different strategies for tyre/fuelling/pit-stop numbers.
How many of the spectators in Singapore do you think care about what fuel/engine type or tire compound is used? They want to see money/glitz and drama. They got that, but not racing.
OKAY, i appricate you taking tht time to explain yourself and not just abuse me like half the people on youtube would usually resort too. Long storyy short I love f1 becuase there is no greater test of drving ability, no car goes faster around a track then an f1. These guys dont overtake as much beacuse they are very good drivers, the best in the world. It s about being on the edge/doing something on a section of track that makes you faster then anyone else and therefore the fastest in the world
I dont want to see a tonne of overtaking, theres no skill in that. I want 4 or 5 good overtakes per race and some strategies like in singapore to decide the outcome of the race.
All due respect, if you don't appreciate overtaking and fighting for places on the track I don't think you appreciate racing. Also, please understand that lack of overtaking is due to cars, NOT drivers. Please read post race interview of Singapore podium. Drivers complaining about it being IMPOSSIBLE to overtake despite they are faster.
i don't know anything about F1, but when you really hear the sounds and roars of the engines, man it's exciting! I'm gonna watch the finals later. I'll do try to post some vids, not as good as this one though. :(
Actually...its not the first singapore gp....the old singapore gp was at thomson gp...it was removed in the late 80s.

Mark probably only does one lap around the track before he crashes out like he always does then blames his team for it.

By the way- if you race big bikes- Formula Ford will be boringly slow for you - about equal to 250cc production bikes. Karts (the top classes) are much much faster and more exciting and far more demanding- your skills will get razor sharp in fast karts- they are awesome (thats why F1 drivers often practice in karts- as Barrichello said once "Of course F1 is much faster than go-kart on the track, but in terms of brain speed it feels about the same." F.Ford feels like a sunday cruize in comparison
mallamoozoo 2 years ago
cool thanks yeah i want to do it for fun so why do people do formula ford is it just to get experiance racing in larger cars

look at Kimi Raikkonen - 10 years of karts then just 11 races in Formula Renault then F1.
Jarno trulli - 10 years of karts then 2 years of F3 - then F1.
Hakkinen similar.
Schumi and Senna - 15 years in karts then into F1 in just 3 years intermediate categories.
Karts teaches most of what you need to know. By far the best foundation you can get.
To be honest - i now think it would be possible to take the World Champ kart driver and put them straight into F1 testing for a year, then race in GP
mallamoozoo 2 years ago
Because now F1 no longer requires manual gear shifts and the cars are so good now they handle like gokarts anyway - Im sure it is possible to transition directly for an elite level kart driver.
mallamoozoo 2 years ago
Correct mate- F.Fords are purely for a quick transition between karts and proper racing cars.
The seat position is more laid back and the front wheels lie in a different part of your field of vision- and of course manual gear shifts- but all minor stuff- just a few months needed to get comfortable with all that- what takes 5 years at least to learn well is proper driving technique - so spend a few years in karts and just a few weeks in F.F (then ASAP into F3 if you can also find BIG money)

so i have to do a lewis hamilton or win a scholarship like brendan heartly

not brendan im mean daniel riccardo young aussie races uk formula three he won bmw series scholarship

yeah but where did he first get the money for UKF3 - thats $1 million a year - see my point - you cant even get a start without BIG money.

my point is to get to the point where they get red bull support they would have put in $100,ooo to $250,ooo of personal family money - thats beyond working class families - its a sport for rich kids only, almost without exception.
mallamoozoo 2 years ago
yeah i know what ur saying but it seems as though the sport and teams are making it more affordable and teams have relised that there is alot of talent that can only go so far but to be a smart arse lewis and recardo only forked money out on karts cause we know the story with hamilton and recardo won a scholarship but they are the exeption i wish that the goverment put money into it like they do with other sports to make it more affordable and have ais motor racing scholarships
nachospole1 2 years ago
Mate - i wrote a 10 page sponsorship proposal / job application that took me 300 hours and heaps of money to put together (this was 94 - before PC's and printers - I had to get it done pro and cost shitloads) - and i sent it to absolutely every motherfucker in Australia and overseas - 320 companies' marketing divisions, AIS, every motorsport team in the book - 95% didnt even answer and the few that did said "NOT INTERESTED!"
Thats how i came to realize the world is totally corrupt!
mallamoozoo 2 years ago
The worst thing is you are sold the bullshit line in school to follow your dream and work hard at it and you'll get it - but its bullshit - you need MONEY!
mallamoozoo 2 years ago
it's frustrating u kinda need to team up with someone with a bit of wieght to through around kinda like mark with ann neal or i guess u could do what stoners family did sell all your stuff buy camper van and travel and c if u can get a break well my dads second cousin is loaded plays for hawthorn should ask my nan to talk to him cause they talk all the time lol but yeah by best chance is to win lotto
nachospole1 2 years ago
When i was 21 and still blissfully naive about the fact that if you really wanted it you would get it - i met Alan Jones at a touring car race and asked him, basically "My family aint rich but I am kicking ass in karts but got no money to go even to F.Ford - what do i do?" and he said point blank: "Not much you can do - heaps of guys have double mortgaged the house and ended up homeless"
i ignored him (didnt wanna face it) but realised years later he was right - its purely a money game.
mallamoozoo 2 years ago
well mabey i will get a job that will alow me to race and if not me my kids if i have any and they want to race cause i love all forms of sport but motor sport wins like the skill involved and it's just u and the machine and the adrenalin like i hope my business qualifications will get me into the banks but i would put as much as i have know into racing cause i love it if karting is all i can do so be it at the moment i do track days on my bike and well i want more
nachospole1 2 years ago
Well at 37 its over for me but Im not gonna put my son into racing because chances are he will be as good as I was (maybe even better if thats possible because i would be coaching him - whereas i learned it all myself) and then he will face the same wall - not rich enough - so basically FUCK IT!
But yeah you have the right spirit pal - it is just you and the machine - if you can keep your horizons there and dont dream of F1 then you can enjoy it - A LOT!
mallamoozoo 2 years ago
If you turn out to be good but can't pay your way beyond Karts - well they are pretty good - Senna said sometimes he was more fond of kart than F1.
mallamoozoo 2 years ago
maybe u will win lotto and he can get the chance u didnt but u never know the worlds a funny place he could win a scholarship or something u never know but ur right just do it to have fun i guess if somethin comes of it then thats all well and good but dont hold ur breath maybe he will meet f1 boss like hamilton did lol u never know i want to do it for the fun of doing it and to compete and be the best i can im to old to make it to f1 anyway unless i do a takumo sato lol
nachospole1 2 years ago
yeah i just checked ur profile - sorry to say 20 is too old - you wont make F1 - but you can still have a great time in go karts. 9And never forget the words of the greatest F1 driver of all time - Ayrton Senna said "Go kart gave me a lot of pleasure - many times it was more enjoyable than my profession now in Formula 1"
For real, he said it - that is the all time King talking so if you really have the spirit of a racing driver - you can be happy in go-kart.
mallamoozoo 2 years ago
yeah the most go karting i do is at the hire place not as fast as i want to but im happy to hold lap records there though they mean jack because most the people that go there aint anything flash and peoplei race dont like me because in simple terms im like sato if there is tiny gap i put the kart there and they think im dangerous i tell them i dont care u need to pick the pace up lol but i live 10min from local kart club so travel time aint a prob if/when i join
nachospole1 2 years ago
though sato started karts at 18 but i think he came from money

UK is the best place in the world to race- if you do happen to be good enough- there is at least some chance- very small but at least a sliver of a chance of getting sponsorship there- compared to australia where it is ZERO! (UK has had about 60 F1 drivers in past 30 years compared to Australia with just 2 (one - Brabham - just because his Dad was a World f1 champ - doesnt count - really Webber is the only aussie in 3 friggen decades - believe me it aint coz we didnt have the talent - bwe dDID!
mallamoozoo 2 years ago
By the way Villeneuve didnt win against Schumi- the Williams won against Ferrari and Villeneuve hapopened to be lucky enough to be in the seat - almost every driver on the grid would have won in that 97 Williams.
Villeneuve was shit in his F3 days and had he been a no-name he would have been ditched long before he made it to F1- but thanks to his name he was given endless opportunity to polish his act - after thus recieving far more seat time than he deserved he finally developed semi-competence

And like it was first time in history, CART has done it many times in lightning and sportscars have been driving in complete pitch black tracks since 1910s for fucks sake.

aaron0288 3 years ago
hmmmmmmm, you missed a great spa and monza race.
longshot14 3 years ago 4
oh come off it. those of you who watch just f1 have no idea what a race is. you've got into that zone where you think 1 or 2 overtakes makes a race. they were nothing to what you get in gt racing, gp2, most club racing etc, let alone motorcycle racing.
aaron0288 3 years ago
Come off it???? WTF, Monza and Spa were great races. It seems to me you need hundreds of passes in a race to please you. To me lots of passing in a race means lots of mistakes and bad driving from the drivers involved.
We clearly have different views on what makes good racing, to me watching a 21 yr in a minnow team pull out a gap on a team with huge resoruces in the wet is exicting, this is something you or I could never achieve, but overtaking.....I do that everyday on the freeway.
longshot14 3 years ago
So get used to it!
sjampinho 3 years ago
ps:
Next year overtaking will be more easy with the new rules about downforce!
sjampinho 3 years ago
F1 is boring compared to other racing because of 2 things: Rules that let the machines drive rather then the drivers (downforce, traction-control, brakin assist, etc), and too much money involved (makes the revard of taking a chance too risky/costly, so the drivers don't take risks).
So F1 ends up being a proceeding of who can throw the most money into it and who takes least risk.
Result: boring racing
Fightclubs 3 years ago
EPIC FAIL MATE,
Lets start by saying your entitled to your opinion and your opinion is that F1 is boring, I'm okay with that. But you lie and I'm not okay with that.
1. Traction Control is banned, also engine braking is banned so the drivers are in complete control.
2 you'll be pleased to know that F1 will have a salary cap as of next year.
3. Downforce effects the level of grip, it does not help the driver drive.
4.Your still stuck in the schumi era f1 is different now, F1 is BACK!!!
longshot14 3 years ago
The only "epic fail" I'm guilty of, is not keeping up to date with a BORING sport. I only looked at this, because I live in Singapore now.
1."Engine braking" is not banned.
It's still there, but the ECU cannot control traction under braking anymore.
2.I didn't mean salary caps(bad for competition in fact). I meant the money teams/manufactureres/sponsors use.
3.Downforce of 1 car affects other cars thus negatively affects racing.
4.F1 is changing rules because it's NOT BACK and still BORING!
Fightclubs 3 years ago
Dude you don't know much about F1 clearly. You said F1 was boing because of traction control they DON'T have traction control, you've clearly just turned a blind eye to the fact you said that. Your funny coz you try and comment on things you know nothing about.
longshot14 3 years ago
Mate, I owned up to them still having traction control. However, it still ist an argument against F1 being boring and not good racing. F1 involves too much money, drama, politics, while actual racing is poorly lacking. You can remain in your little cocoon, but I would recommend you to watch other racing and then maybe you would be able to talk about something you know.
Ask yourself why they are changing the rules? Because everything is great as it is?
Fightclubs 3 years ago
What is good racing then, oh master, racing god ,sensai???
longshot14 3 years ago
The problem is that there are not many other types of races that are televised regularly. This means that people in general (not you necessarily) have a view that F1 is THE ONE AND ONLY BEST RACING.
The most obvious good alternative that comes to mind is the MotoGP (especially the smaller 125cc and 250cc classes). You have several position changes of positions several times a lap.
If you want car racing, you should have a look at BTCC or even go-cart racing!
If you want to look at money: F1
Fightclubs 3 years ago
what?
do u make sense?
actual racing lacking? Yes, and ur Fightclubzzz!
sassappeal 3 years ago
With "actual racing lacking",I mean changing of position on the race track by virtue of braking/control/more guts.
Racing IMHO is not when they are going around a RACE track very VERY fast and not overtaking, but changes of position happens because someone has different strategies for tyre/fuelling/pit-stop numbers.
How many of the spectators in Singapore do you think care about what fuel/engine type or tire compound is used? They want to see money/glitz and drama. They got that, but not racing.
Fightclubs 3 years ago
OKAY, i appricate you taking tht time to explain yourself and not just abuse me like half the people on youtube would usually resort too. Long storyy short I love f1 becuase there is no greater test of drving ability, no car goes faster around a track then an f1. These guys dont overtake as much beacuse they are very good drivers, the best in the world. It s about being on the edge/doing something on a section of track that makes you faster then anyone else and therefore the fastest in the world
longshot14 3 years ago
I dont want to see a tonne of overtaking, theres no skill in that. I want 4 or 5 good overtakes per race and some strategies like in singapore to decide the outcome of the race.
longshot14 3 years ago
All due respect, if you don't appreciate overtaking and fighting for places on the track I don't think you appreciate racing. Also, please understand that lack of overtaking is due to cars, NOT drivers. Please read post race interview of Singapore podium. Drivers complaining about it being IMPOSSIBLE to overtake despite they are faster.
Fightclubs 3 years ago
