oh carol. I would run away with you. I'm aware that you're ageing but that doesn't matter. we'll just attatch wheels to your oxygen tank and head in the downward direction of a large hill and we'l be too quick for them to judge us. They don't make comedy like this now. Gold!
@TheOriginalTalbot I agree the shows now a days just don't have the heart the Carol Burnett and Friends show did! Carol and Tim and the cast were comedy geniuses in my opinion!
Much of this show predates my existence but I have seen the bits and reruns, and everyone who comments how pallid modern comedy seems compared to this, is absolutely correct. Today "brilliance" is the label given to shows like "The Office" and "The Simpsons". That is pathetic. Burnett and company were exponentially superior. Truly, something has been lost.
Pure gold classic. Does anyone have the one where Tim is the goofy old man operating a hot dog cart and Harvey K. is his frustrated customer? One of the funniest things I ever saw.
I enjoyed Carol Burnett so much as a kid, I think I was around 11 or 12 years old and I believe it came on Saturday nights, but I would be right there in front of the tv, laughing my ass off at her...she, Harvy, Vikki, Tim and all her guest where hilarious.
Does anyone have the skit where Tim and Harvey were news anchors and Tim got a whistle in his nose? I remember it but can't find it. Harvey lost all composure. Then Tim started laughing with the nose whistle still there! Then Harvey fell on the floor laughing!
I love them so much. It's so rare to find the kind of chemistry they all had together. I so wish there could be more of these. I remember so fondly all of these as I was a little girl who is now 37. I realize now the true meaning of comedy.
Oh man! I've played this 7 times and I can't stop crying from laughing so hard!!!!! Genius! Try to find a show like that today. This was my all time fave as a kid!
I saw another skit where Carol and Tin were those character from the 11th season where they sing in the bed, "You can't turn me off..." So were these characters a regular skit in the 11th season?
With that beautiful song Carol was singing by Debbie Boone of "You light up my life", this episode from The Carol Burnett Show had to be 1977 because I distinctly remember that "You light up my life" was the number one song on the pop charts in 1977. They also said that it was the number one song from the whole decade of the 1970's.

HA HA HA I love Tim Conway. You could come home one day and feel soooooo bad and have not smiled all day, But if you see this your laughing your head off.Love this video : )
As "The Dentist" skit with he and Harvey Corman exposed - I think that he really did inject his face with novacaine!
So many greats in that era and the ones they built on:Don Knotts Andy Griffith Foster Brooks Red Foxx Johnathan Winters Peter Sellers Groucho, Harpo and Chico Marx Richard Pryor Woody Allen Jerry Lewis Dean Martin Robin Williams Bob Hope W.C. Fields Steve Martin Gene Wilder John Belushi Dudley Moore Danny Kaye Walter Matthau Jack Lemmon Dangerfield Lucy Mel Brooks Red Skeleton
@Bremen25 Tim Conway is infamous for getting people he shares the stage with to crack up while he keeps a straight face. Supposedly, Carol Burnett said there is a point when you can sense that he's going to stray from the script, in front of the audience and with cameras rolling, and there's nothing you can do to stop him. All you can do is roll along and see where Tim will take you, and quite often it's funnier than the original material.
i just love her improv and she was the ultimate miss hannigan in annie. shame hollywood are letting their standards slip now, I mean come, paris hilton in a starring role?!
This is something that's still funny, no matter how many times you've seen it. Notice how Carol can barely keep it together as she gasps out "with song".
vicki lawrence was the best at keeping a straight face. I've seen this one before on a highlight show or something like that - she wasn't supposed to get into the tub.
The whole clip is HILARIOUS - and of course, you don't know how much was scripted and how much was accident - but check out Tim's expression at the very end of the skit - JUST PRICELESS, him shaking his head!
This is hilarious!! Carol Burnett is great...and pretty much the best female comedian ever! :) I love it when they can't keep a straight face and start laughing!
I love both Lucy and Carol Burnett. However, if I had to go on pure talent I would have to go with Carol. Look at the range she has with all of her charachters. Lucille Ball was good at playing Lucy, and I never really saw her do much else (besides dramatic B movies). They are both funny gals though with hilarious shows. Long live both!
P.S. I agree, I don't know how they could have all kept a strait face with each other (especially Tim).
When you are dealing with the best script writers and the most talented ensemble what else could compare? Who could keep a straight face working with Tim Conway!
well i didnt wanna say anything but its common knowledge that lucy was a bitch to her co-workers.....as u can see by these clips carol & her crew got on pretty well
@bette1908 - Lucy would agree with you and said as much many times... Carol is a complete talent... not only can she do it all, she does it all well. Even more admirable is with all her success, she still answers her mail and treats people with warmth and friendliness...
Sad, but true. But it would bomb because TV producers were braver back then. Everybody is afraid of offending people now. Plus, everybody is so jaded these days, nobody actually pays attention to what's going on. Here, the humor is so simple, some would say it's "dated." No, it's just really funny.

If we didn't ask for you tidbits of info, stop presuming we don't know. You insult our intelligence.
