Hey we are putting on a tribute event for Ari Up in Bristol, UK (30.07.11) with Tessa Pollitt, Hollie Cook, Viv Albertine, Adrian Sherwood and Mark Stewart! Please watch our ad youtube.com/watch?v=qE5BCjxH5gM and check out our facebook event if you are interested? Big Love
Was this band part of the ska punk movement? She soundls like a really sweat women, did not know she died, thats really sad. I do like the band Bad Brains she sounds kinda like a mix of bad brains and g. clenton!!
I was lucky to see Ari in middleton she moved me so much she will be sadly missed by her family im sure but also by her fans .ITS a pity so many people didnt hear her or understand her . As a male i think she was an inspration to us all espesially to all females RIP Ari I have never replyed on the internet before she deserves this praise and more
i remember when i saw this back in 2008 when shes talking about running out of time and catching her last train i had a feeling something was wrong :( RIP ari you are amazing and a goddess and the slits fucking rule
why does she sound insane, that is bollocks.she is making complete sense to me.are young people that repressed, that common sense sounds insane.god help freedom with that attitude
@inky9eyed9loveboy todays youth is sadly lacking in imagination,or should i say most not all.im 47 and class my self as very lucky to have lived through punk.northern soul, acid house and had[having]a fantastic time.the x factor generation tday has no rebels.
huh. she knew she was ill--she said my time is limited and i know i'm catching the last train. I saw the slits a few times--it was as much about the party as it was about the music. she was wildly funny and didn't see any separation betw herself and the ppl there to see them play. i admire someone who can live their life exactly how they want without caring much about what other ppl think.
As far as I can remember her voice was always hoarse and she spoke with a Jamaican accent being a fellow Jamaican myself this would have been around the late 70's early eighties if i'm right . The last time I saw her she had these lovely twin rasta boys and she was living close to Battersea Park. Ari was a beautiful spirit may she rest in peace. Bless MP
R.I.E.P Ari - I first met Ari when I was still attending secondary school and Ari and her mother moved to the road I use to live on in Battersea, London. They were both always accomodating I use to admire her mum driving around in some kind of Caddilac at the time I thought what a long car it didn't really fit in with the others lol. One Love MP
I remember when i was younger and Ari aka medusa was in my aunts house and she passed me and i wanted to touch her hair and i did and she got mad at me lol i know why now.... a queen never lets you touch her crown.
RIP ARI, you will be missed! I was lucky enough to catch you with the Slits in Philly a few years ago. Great times. Drugs? Insane? I think not. A very sweet person and great artist.
@jamierourketen Hi Jamie, Ari did not take drugs at all, that is her natural demeanour. She has the accent as she moved to Jamaica around 1982, so had been living there 35+ years when this was shot.
as much as I respect this band...I think Ari is abit insane, but in a bad way. It sounds like she has too much to prove, when in reality she shouldn't have to prove anything.
RIP & come again with next mission

she is not insane, she is bold
todays sulky kids label everything they don't 'get', which is a lot, as 'insane'

@StStu Know what you mean, like most performers, she's a bit barmy, but not in a threatening or bad way.
There's such a thing as creative madness.Society won't get interesting art, from us 'normal' people.
