  • Holy cow, this a good tutorial.

  • I'm really sorry if this is a stupid question. How do you get to that cursor that you are using? When I use blender, I'm not able to do anything but move that red circle in the middle of the screen around. Again, I know that this question is really stupid and I apologize if I'm wasting your time.

  • @CDCook1519 No question is stupid, it sound like you are referring to the cursor indicator which is showing where your cursor is located, for example if you click and move it then add a new mesh/cube it will appear where that red circle is. When you are in edit mode you can click somewhere to move it out of your way. You may want to watch the beginner tutorial to get familiar with the basic commands it may help you. :)

  • You really know how to give a tutorial... anyone with no background in 3d modeling can understand this...

  • @keeperkai999 Thanks a lot :)

  • Thank you soooo much for this tutorial, I had pretty much given up on blender but then I saw the light, watched this awesome tutorial and now am on the path to some great models, I can't thank you enough for this, I am giving you credit in all my 3d modelling work from now on, and anyone can hold me to that, thank you sooo much once again!

  • @parkour2210 Well thank you very much and I'm glad you didn't give up because Blender is a great program and it gets easier as you start to get the hang of things. Sometimes I just mess around with a cube or other mesh trying out different things to see what happens. Get comfortable with the basic commands that are used over and over things will get easier. Enjoy and happy modeling :^))

  • yes of commands

  • @RealJahSoldier On the website there is a .pdf file with all of them for PC and Mac :)

  • @vscorpianc: thanks! I have not seen it.

  • @RealJahSoldier If you go to the Blender page go to the bottom and select the user manual button then on the next page click the "reference" button it should be there.

  • Awesome I could folow everything to the end. The only problem is that the edge were all messed up. guess i wasn't aligned correctly.

  • no problem. it was a good tutorial for me.

You have a short cut list? :)

  • @RealJahSoldier A shortcut list? Of the commands?

  • thx

  • @RealJahSoldier Thank you for taking time to say thanks...smile appreciate it and you are very welcome.

  • How do you perfectly face North/South/West/East?

How did you got from there 0:01 to there 0:41. Help :x (my english sucks so couldn't really follow what you were saying)

  • @EekWe If you mean front it's 1 on numpad, top view is 7 on number keypad, side view is 3 on number keypad... to do opposites of each hold ctrl + the appropriate number HTH :)

  • @vscorpianc thanks so much

  • great tutorial! really helpful and very clear

  • @dealerbinq Thank you nice to hear it was helpful. Smile

  • how to go into right orth

  • @bkpoppa Press 5 on the number keypad for ortho view, and 3 for right view, Ctrl+3 is left. If on laptop, it's "FN" key + Letter "I" for ortho, and "FN" + "L" for right view. HTH :)

  • someone plz help whenever i click instead of my cursor clicking the vertex this dumb target goes there

  • @conorrocks7 Are you in Proportional Editing, you can check by pressing the letter O to turn it off, this may be why assuming you are right clicking and trying to select a vertex.

  • THX FOR THE HELP, FOLLOWED EVERYTHING!!!! ;P

  • How do you change the perspectives? I try pressing 5, but it does not work.

  • @DanishGiirl did you use the numpad 5? :)

  • @Xplosivbabe Yes the 5 on the numpad changes to Ortho View, the numbers across the top of the keyboard are by default set to change layers - If you are using a laptop I did two different tutorials showing how to do this without the number keypad if you need help feel free to ask :))

  • how does she rotate the object freely like in 09:13 please someone reply! thank you!

  • do this vid also works for blender 2.6?

im havin a bit of trouble with it

  • @LilCoco777 It should work fine with 2.5 or 2.6 since it's only basic commands :^)

  • I am a total newbie on blender....Am currently trying to learn after effects and stumbled into this to co-use with that. This seems great! I will get into it tomorrow! Thanks a lot!!

  • Got to say you are the tops in tutorials. It is so damn good whn you finaly find tutorials that are easy clear and enjoyable. Sub coming at you and thank you for your time to guide us learners and help us feel like we are getting somewhere.

  • @butterflydrum Thank you very much, it is truly a great feeling knowing that I have shared and helped others. I appreciate the feedback :^))

  • Great tutorial, thanks v much.

  • Something werid happen when I used the mirror thing. When I delete the verticles and click the mirror a small part of the head was gone.

  • I need a bit of help..Right now im just trying to make a simple stick sorta like a spike but I cant. What object would I start with to make a simple stick? These viewing controls are very hard to use and its hard trying to get a object into a shape

  • FINALLY your the ONLY one from youtube who REALLY helped me with just making a head.

Men,the most people talk to quiet,or the volume is to low,or you cant see what their doing.

    But YOU are just perfect.

  • @nick00580 Thank you and I'm glad that I could be of help :^)

  • @vscorpianc Ok i have on more question.I have a photo from a friend ( front view only ) and i want to make him in blender. The thing is i have only hes front view like i said.Is that possible the head is finished and the neck now only the eyes, ear, hair mouth and nose.

  • @nick00580 Not sure what the question is...

  • @vscorpianc Ok to put it this way.

I want to make just a head base mech but ONLY created from the front view can i do that?

Cause normally when you make something your using different angels like

    front,right,bottom,top,side.

I now ask you if i can make something with ONLY using 1 view perspective.

  • @nick00580 Certainly, you can use a plane instead of a cube and model just the front view but you will have a flat model, or you can model a cube from only the front to if you want just make sure that the "occlude" button is off (to the r of the face mode select button in Edit mode) so you don't grab any verts in the back of your mesh while your modeling in front view HTH

  • @vscorpianc Ok thanks i also found that you can do this by using different models like cubes, planes, circles but when i do that their not attached how can i do THAT?

  • @nick00580 press key E to extrude,Press key W to decrease or increase the number of vertices or lines you want. It is best to start with the lowest amount of vertices and build from there, Most certainly with adding a circle, I would press W and on your toolbox on the left hand side you can reduce your vertices. Sorry but it is easy, but you must see it being done if you are a beginner.

  • @nick00580 If you start with a cube shape and want to add a sphere that is attached to it make sure you're in edit mode when you add the sphere and it will be attached to the cube by default, you may have to move it to where you want it to touch the cube. But when you go back into object mode both will be one object to blender. HTH

  • @vscorpianc Thanks, this was one of the most helpful things ever.

  • @nick00580 There is a tutorial available from the blender site. It is called Blenderella, and will instruct you from downloadoading high definition photos with left ,right and front view. it will then instruct you how to make the whole character, with eyes, nose, mouth, hair. then onto body, legs, arms, hands etc. A long tutorial without doubt, but very useful.

  • @englishmovielover ok whats the name of the site plz?

  • hey can you help me its a nooby question but i keep spliting the screen an i dont know how to close the the split :S

  • @bobic171 If you mean making two windows hold you mouse over the edge between the two window till it changes and said split screen/join - select join you should see a big dark arrow move you mouse till it points the the screen you want to close and click HTH

  • Great tutorial, thanks for taking the time...anxious to learn how to sculpt the rest of the face.....

  • THANK U IT WAS VERY HELPFUL!!!

  • @jasonj0929 You are very welcome, happy to help out :^))

  • @rooneymechis Check to make sure you are in Edit Mode (tab toggles edit and object modes) In Edit Mode you should see the "occlude" button and the "proportional editing" button. HTH

  • Eh, how do you select the vertex?

  • @xYoCryn You right click on it to add more hold shift and right click or you can use B for border select and drag the ones you want to add... HTH

  • HOW DO YOU ROTATE?

  • @ImSobhi I CANT VEIW THE OBJECT FROM A DIFFERNT ANGLE!

  • @ImSobhi With a mouse press and hold the scroll button to rotate :^)

  • I'm still struggling, So how exactly do I scroll down and up?

    What are the keys? Thanks.

  • @XxZdarkyZxX To pan up down left right hold the FN + Ctrl and press the K for down, U for left, 8 for up and the letter O for right

  • What if your using a laptop?. And don't have a mouse? How would I be able to do that in

    4:03?

  • @XxZdarkyZxX I did two different tutorials just for Blender users who are using a laptop or have no mouse you may find both or either method very helpful :)) Feel free to ask if you have any problems or questions I'll do my best to try and help you okay :^)

  • what version is this?

  • @pawangmuda I believe this was 2.5 but I've upgraded to 2.61 which is pretty much the same with a few nice improvements :)

  • plz help when i press the numbers it dosnt change my view so i can use the mirror cuz its not perfectly alined

  • @mcguigcls You should be using the number keypad, but you can change view with the menu on the bottom left of your 3d view window too HTH

  • 04:42 Ooh sorry its just my Shortcut!

  • great tutorial! thank you for sharing this!

  • @jeditsuyoshi YW :^)

  • i can't select a vertex! :(

  • @migue897 Make sure you are in "vertex select" in Edit Mode, then right click on the vertex, or B and drag and select... HTH

  • AND i dont know how to zoom in! I NEED HELLPPP

  • @GimmeDatCOOKEH Not sure why your cursor won't stay still...to zoom you use the scroll button on the mouse or the + and - keys HTH :)

  • i CANNOT get my cursor to stay still i can't click anything without it moving!! And I can't click anything! How do I get it to stay still???

  • Thanks a lot

  • @anishwij You are very welcome, glad you like it :)

  • @vscorpianc You replied!! Thanks a lot for taking the time to do 127 videos for us. Best part is its free and no advertisements so your doing it not even for money.

  • @ultimatecrayon Thanks for the feedback, will keep this in mind, :^))

  • i need help when i press 5 it still in persp view

  • @TheLittelrat are you pressing 5 on the number keypad, the 5 across the top of your keyboard is for layers, you can also go to the View button at the bottom left of your window and change it from there HTH :)

  • Subscribe, Click! Like, click. Favorite, click.

  • @jlozoya6 Smile....

  • hi great great video, but at 4:34 how did you change the look to a more natural look ?

  • @TigrisTigris1 Just grabbed and moved around some verts, edited it out to try and keep video from being too long smile.

  • @vscorpianc thx alot, that was a great help ;)

  • what did she do after 4:30 ?

  • @Th3Ph1234k Moved a few verts abut edited it out because sometimes I get caught up in looking, thinking, moving things...trying to keep video short :)

  • @Th3Ph1234k I'm not sure either. It's like she took a break. Made some changes. And restarted taping (Made a video cut.)

But we don't see those changes in our work >.<

  • @mdrscream @Th3Ph1234k - Yes I did edit out where I was simply moving things to shape it better didn't realize this would cause confusion was trying to keep the video from being too long, I will keep these edits in mind in the future sorry bout that :)

  • @Th3Ph1234k She pressed ESC so it got back ;P

  • How much size have the programm?

  • @SnowtrooperMC Not sure what you mean, but if you are asking the size of the download it's 27.0 MB

  • @SnowtrooperMC It's like 100mb. Can you believe it's that small? Amazing,huh?

  • @anuglycow5 Smile, yeah I just want to make sure everyone understands which letter I am saying...grin. Thanks for the comment and feedback. :^))

  • XD

  • Vertex is singular, Vertices is plural.

  • @jordannw2010 you are absolutely correct, probably why I like to call them dots...smile.

  • Does anyone computer lag while using this program?

  • @Realrpg It can happen if you don't have enough memory one of my computers is more responsive than the other and the one with less memory seems to do that sometimes.

  • Yes it's a basic shape, but with faces it's a bugger to animate if the topology doesn't flow with facial features. Good tut for beginners though.

  • it's got the head shape of spiderman :) just saying

  • @Jesant045 Smile...

  • Okay so i made the head and it turned out warped... how do zoom in on a laptop and stay in orthor mode i now shift f + w works in persp mode but not orthor mode

  • @mindlesslytripping Try the FN (function) key with ? I do have a tutorial on the laptop functions keys if you want to see if that may help you, :)

  • how do you zoom in?

  • @mindlesslytripping never mind....

  • Very helpful thank you so much :]

  • @Z3D101 You are very welcome happy to hear that it was a help to you :^))

  • @vscorpianc

    subscribed, and liked

    looking forward for sculpting :)

  • @Arbiter7337 Cool, thanks for sharing, you are referring to 3 for the view level in subsurf modifier, right? With 3d modeling it's always good to tweak and try things, and sharing what we learn with others helps us all. Smile thank you :^)

  • the big nob on the head 9:30

  • @charlieoughton01 With the srcoll button, :^))

  • @charlieoughton01 Giggle... yeah that's what it looks like sometimes

  • How do I reduce the size of the grab circle with my laptop?

  • @Catoriesih Ah, on your other comment I just asked if you were using a laptop smile, I did a tutorial on using Blender with a lap top if you don't have a mouse, but since you have a mouse with no wheel which is how you do that the info there may be helpful to you. Let me know how you do. :^)

  • wow that was very helpful thanks :D

  • This is the best! You are so good at breaking it down into the component steps!

  • @34984352 TY for leaving a comment and giving me some feedback it really helps me out a lot. :)

  • Thank you for taking the time to make this tutorial. It is a very good pace for a beginner. thanks!

  • @Iewkas NP I'm still learning how to make the tutorials and do try to keep beginners in mind always, thanks for the feedback.

  • @vscorpianc how do you zoom? im a super beginner srrt

  • thanks alot worked great :D subscirbed

  • @fatfacemcmuffin Well thank you too, appreciate it :^)

  • @vscorpianc i knew something looked weird with how i spelt "subscribed" hehe

  • Somehow I made a woman's face by mistake.. But anyway good tutorial learned a lot about Blender ^_^

  • @Silent14411 Cool, you really never know what you may end up creating :^)

  • it wouldnt let me even get into the front view

  • @cannonman4287 Are you using a laptop? If so you need to press the "FN" key (usually near Ctrl key) and the letter J on the keyboard. HTH otherwise you should be able to press the 1 on your number keypad not the one across the top of the keyboard :)

  • When I hit front view my face is not facng directly at me, making it impossible for me to add ears. Does anyone know what i could have done wrong?

  • when i do the subdivision and view 2 and hit apply i only get i dont have the very outside ring. on the video it shows it being 8 across i only have 6 so when i pull on the "chin" its not centered as though im only pulling the leftside of the face not the middle of it.

  • @Haijynx ...was able to get it just had to zoom wayyyy out, is there a way to show them all while being zoomed in?

  • Comment removed

  • Awesome tutorial! Thank you so so much, it is very informative and never leaves out an important step! :)

Before I watched this video I was completely clueless as to how to make things in Blender, but now I feel much more confident. Keep making videos!

God bless you, and thanks again!

  • @nullarcclass And thank you for leaving a comment to let me know it helped. :^)

  • Thanks ! have some UV mapping tuts N

  • does the step to encircle the mouth or eyes with a new vertex work the same for version 2.6? I have followed every step but this is the only thing that has not worked whether I size the mouth or not. I have give up on heads until I can contain the mouth in a cubed vertex. Wish I knew what to do, I am having fun with Blender...

    great vids btw!

  • @killerkitty777 It should work the same, are you talking about the face loop around the mouth when you say "mouth in cubed vertex"? If so after you have your faces/edges around the mouth create a face loop around the mouth and extrude in: E then R-Click then S and drag mouse in towards the mouth and it should create the extrusion; do the steps exactly if this is what you mean it does take some practice HTH

  • very fine tutorial help me thx

  • @jusmin51 And thank you too, happy to hear it was helpful for you. :^)

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!

  • @lilg742ster You're very welcome appreciate you time and comment :^)

  • @lilg742ster I'm wish this guy your amazing :)

  • @lilg742ster YW smile.

  • Hey when i press g to grab it and use the scroll wheel nothing happens and it only stays on one vertice

  • @ronnie17005 After you press g to grab you have to hold left mouse button and move your mouse to get things to move; to select more than one vert hold shft and r-click to select/add more or use the B (border select) HTH

  • Thanks for the video helped a lot! :)

  • I cant' make it into a pseudo-sphere going from the cube, if anyone can tell me how, that'd be great, because i cant even seem to find that right tool-panel.

    Thanks

  • @Templarnm I think what you need to do is while still in object mode add the sub/surf modifier and apply it, then go to edit mode, you may have skipped that. HTH :)

  • @Templarnm Wow, thanks! It ended up popping up on its own when i ran Blender again, but where would i find the subsurf modifier, just for future reference. I'm still new to the whole 3D modeling deal.

  • @Templarnm On the right panel, which should be opened when you start Blender unless you changed it, where you see the little icons the "wrench" icon brings up the modifier menu box, it's in there. If you can't see all the icons, mouse over that icon bar, press - hold mmb and drag; or mouse over the edge of the panel and drag it wider. HTH

  • thanks for answer! soo i guess its better to do everything before applying any modifier :)

  • Comment removed

  • press 1 to get front veiw

  • @WhatyHUH yes, 1 front, 3 right, 7 top, ctrl 1 back, ctrl 3 left, ctrl 7 back :)) HTH

  • @vscorpianc OMG Thanks for that! I've been putting along with just the 3 main views (front, top, left)!

  • @sakuranzu Cool, happy to help. :)

  • @WhatyHUH ty for answering that, I missed that question...good to know we are all willing to help eachother ;)
