I think he's shit. And the stuff he said about michael macintyre was pathetic, he doesnt like to see a comedian thats clean make it bigger than him in half the time. Stuart lee has never, will never sell out a stadium. Jelousy is a terrible thing haha
Just because someone likes Macintyre doesn't mean they're an idiot because you don't like it. I like Stuart Lee but that doesn't mean I feel personally threatened everytime someone says they don't.
He's been doing stand up comedy for over 20 years, Stewart Lee is anything BUT an amateur. He's one of the most seasoned professionals still working today. If you don't like his style, or can't see the brilliance in his stand up, then that's your problem.
@tted62br1 you can''t claim to have credibility - you like Michael McIntyre!!!! Hahahaha, you cannot call yourself an authority on comedy if you like McIntyre and Lock... aka. the lowest common denominator of 'comedy'
@tted62br1 So you can't let me air my opinions in peace then, ah well! And then you call a massive leftie a fascist. What a silly little cunt eh? By your use of it, you don't know what a fascist is... I'd suggest you read Homage to Catalonia & Road to Wigan Pier to understand the concept kid.
I can see however why you don't like him, looking at your final jokes, he's a bit above your level really!!! Oh well, get back to school
@LottieMarroon Stewart Lee presents his humour in a much more articulate way than mcintyre. McIntyre is much of a muchness, best of a bad bunch... John Bishop is one of the worst... observational is to comedy what manufactured bands are top music... popular but unoriginal rubbish!
@tted62br1 How about you express your opinions to people who will agree? If you are going to express your opinions then you should be ready for others to deconstruct them and express their opinion on you and your view.
My opinion on you is you are shit person, shit cliched messages, shit sense of humour, shit taste in comedians, a shit inferiority complex and a shit log in name! Just my opinions, I hope you can leave me to air my opinion in peace!!!!!!
@tted62br1 just a thought, maybe this kind of comedy isn't directed at you, so how about you leave all the thousands of people who do enjoy it to watch it in peace
Is he pointing out that observational comedy is bad because unless you are able to relate to it it isn't funny or is he pointing out that observational humour lacks precision and creativity because the jokes are such broad, generalized statements that they apply to anyone whilst making everyone feel 'special' for being able to relate to it.
@LottieMarroon Ha ha, I love that you admit to that technique being a valuable substitute for any form of wit - 'Michael McIntyre is also funny because of his actions, like his jumping around and dance moves' Ha ha ha you absolute moron!
@jonofthesouth86 When being a stand up comedian, it isn't just about the jokes, its about how you present it too. So actually what I'm saying is correct, as I'm saying Michael Mcintyre presents very well and in a hilarious way. I'm not saying it is a substitue for any form of wit, just saying that him presenting well makes him as a stand up comedian funnier.
@jonofthesouth86 Stewart Lee like his pal Henning Wehn - use low lying culture fruit (and in Werhs case shit jokes) to post-structurally deconstruct their quarry and provide an auto-critique of their work. Stuart Lee is a funny guy as well as a great technician- however if he held his views without said humour and technical ability he would run the risk of being a boor and bully. Know what I mean?
I didn't find this funny. I'm not saying it isn't funny, I'm saying I didn't find it funny. But then I love Michael McIntyre so it probably wasn't going to go well anyway....
@grimgroove No not really, its a satire of observational comedy. If you're right everything would be observational comedy because its impossible not to observe
@grimgroove observational comedy has no element of satire in it, the humour people derive from it is based on recognition from, and parallels to, the audience member's own life. It's very simplistic. In this routine, Lee satirises other comedians; making an artistic point about the content and integrity of their act. Subtle but important difference.
"So who's killed a grasshopper? Come on, we've all done it - friday night" Haha indeed, people like to refrain from the killing of insects until the weekend is upon us.
@multiplemugs Dara O brien is a smug unfunny git, but I don't see any contradiction in liking different types of comedian. Mcintyre gets the most out of average material, ditto Lee Evans but he says 'fuck' too much. John Bishop proves you can have a funny scouser. Stew and Doug Stanhope are my faves apart from the dead ones.
I like both Michael Macintyre and Stewart Lee - and I'm not ashamed to say so. In fact they are the only two things I like. I have not eaten any food or consumed any liquids, or breathed oxygen for the last three years. These activities would compromise my exclusive love for these two comedians. Look at his little face, it's almost as if he understands!
I take the defining characteristic...pause...of the select and specific group I am currently talking about. (repeat, faster, while back is turned) the select and specific group I am (sound out) currently talking about (wait smugly while the audience laughs at the repetition) , and I simply point it out. I take the defining characteristic...then make my joke. Turning a 15 second joke into a three minute routine.
@misy49 I mean really, surely, and I don't mind, but surely one of the biggest cliches (well, ready-made tools then) of observational comedy is too make the observation then compare a fictional situation if the observation was put into effect within inappropriate context etc [women take a long time to get ready. Imagine a woman fireman 'I'm just choosing my shoes, then I'll head straight to your fire'], or [observational comedians make observations. Imagine if an insect did that'
@ Multiplemugs, I am a massive fan of Lee Evans but I do admit Michael Mcintyre have his days or he def did when performing at the Comedy Store before he became a household name, However Lee Evans is ABSOLUTELY RUBBISH and I cant understand how anyone can have patience for that low intelligent slapstick humor.
@babuwhite2011 No I dont like Lee Evans. He is absolutely rubbish and would be hard to enjoy a genius like Stewart and then dumb yourself down to watch Lee Evans comedy which are soo poor he have to use physical fall on your butt routines to try to hide the lack of content and wit.

@GQmensah well i think you shouldnt be so hasty to judge lee evans have you seen the amount of sweat he produces on stage trying to make you laugh. you should be ashamed ;)
@rob3419955 He should save some of that sweat and focus on actually being funny, maybe add some intelligence to the performance and it would be more appreciated.
Im such a big fan of Stewart Lee. Pure Genius. BTW, I love the way the guy in the grey T-shirt is totally dying of laughter and his Girlfriend next to him just sits there 100% not amused, not getting ANY of it, thinking :Can we go home now. looool
