raves are notorious for being a place for drug exchange. judging by the show of force involved, im 100% sure that the police were on a DEA case, rather than try to ruin a good party.

@Zenjedi99 the RAVE Act did not pass in the 107th congress, only the Illicit Drug Anti-Proliferation Act, in the 108th. it is aimed at ending the prolific drug trade involved with underground parties. if ravers would stop using and selling drugs, then their parties would not be targeted. easy solution, right?

Any event where drugs are sold and used and a promoter or venure owner knows about it. @eliwoohoo The drug war is a war on civil liberties. The laws and ignorance causes more damage to society than the drugs. If they can use drugs as an excuse to break up an underground counterculture so much the better. Throw people in prison? Easy solution? BULLSHIT. You can take your authoritarian beat 'em down, lock 'em up world view, suck it deep down into your empty soul and blow it out your ass! Or at least bring it back to Germany in the 1930's where they made the trains run on time.

@Zenjedi99 calm down (practice some zen lol). you seem to misunderstand. i was never advocating violence against party-goers, but instead suggesting that the venues, promoters, and ravers have the power themselves to have prevented the RAVE or IDAP act from passing if they stopped the drug trade and use in the raves. drug use, btw, is not a civil liberty just like any crime. so separate the illegal drug use from raves and you'll be fine.

You are most definitely saying that people should be thrown in prision for drugs, and that drug use is a good enough reason for police to get away with walking all over civil liberties. This is exactly why I brought up mushroom and peyote rituals and how natives were tortured and murdered for their gatherings. Or the ghost dance which had nothing to do with drugs.

The only reason I mentioned china and news papers is because I wanted to compare the tyranny above to tyranny elsewhere and I just had read about how 'illegal' it is to print non government approved papers there. Second, as I said before there are just as much drugs(x included) at rock concerts and night clubs as there are at raves, but it WAS called the -RAVE- act. Don't even try to tell me it had NOTHING to do with disrupting the culture.

Have you ever been to a corporate party? If you like being just short of strip searched b4 you go in and then have chaperones(police, big brother) looking over your shoulder at all times, good for you.

@eliwoohoo Thanks to the war on drugs and the Regan mob the U.S.A. has the highest incarceration rate in THE WORLD (more than china and north korea) and you want to blame it on the culture (mostly black and poor) being persecuted. Should Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne be arrested when he talks about smoking weed on stage thereby acknowledging and promoting the use of illegal drugs? I know for a fact that there is just as much a rate of drug use at Ozzfest than at a rave, if not MORE.

Do you think the violence above is a good demonstration of humility and compassion? It blows my mind that anyone with more than a 5 min. wikipedia understanding of buddhism can be so ignorant as to think that drugs are an ok excuse for tyranny. Do the billions of people you speak of include the Netherlands or Canada or Mexico who have relaxed laws for personal drug use?

If you really do the research the REASON for the drug war is the wealth/power addicts who run the petro-chemical, pharmaceutical, big religion,prison,military,police state industries who meet in secret societies. I have been to raves since the late 80's.. and never once have I seen a fight or anything like that happen that the cops would have to bring crowd control in...They just want to dance that's it...Next time go see a rap or R&B concert and people are getting shot up or beat up. ie: award shows...The govt think its the only music to promote drug use...LOL go stand in the middle of a Metallica concert...Cant tell me there no drugs there..LOL
