  • Its weird, I feel much like Miniver Cheevy, I do medieval events and fighting, I have a suit of armor and entire armory of swords and shields, a banner with my own personal heraldry emblazoned on it. Yet I am in school now concentrating on getting a job in my field, I rarely have time to assemble my warrior buddies and ride out to battle. I spend time with a beer in my hand doting on the past and remembering glorious fights and campout feasts. I call it fate and keep on drinking....

  • Robinson was unfairly neglected, I think, until Charles Simic started to write about him more.

  • actually this poem is not really about a man who was born in the wrong time rather it satirizes people who do nothing to change their life

Miniver Cheevy spends his time fantasizing about the medieval era involving heroes and armor but, ironically, he does not resemble these heroic characteristics because he does nothing Instead he "rested from his labors" and was scornful as well as scorned by the world he lived in -Hope that helps to set things straight --- thanks for uploading the video:)

  • Yes, that is the apparent meaning. It's more of a confession or self-parody though. Poetry is usually about what it's like to be the poet.
