  • Gutsy effort by Renee to go head to head with Barnesy. Like so many things Australian, a unique take where authenticity is expressed from being oneself in the moment. Wonderfully uplifting clip

  • Boss Stuff!

  • I have heard hundreds of covers of this song, this version leaves me almost gasping for air. It is wonderful!!!

  • of course , with the stage full of people it should sound good , smiles

  • ive not heard this done better

  • The best version of all time is Cold Chisel live on Swingshift album. It's sensational

  • @73JouJou i love both versions, in this version i love hearing barnes and renae geyer absolutely nailing the last verse

  • @73JouJou both version are good but this has more depth . brod smith kills it and renee geyer certainly holds her own in the duet with barnes. + theres for more perm solution on stage ;-)

  • The very best version of this song ANYWHeRE is just Cold Chisel on their own live from Swingshift album. have a listen and you will hear wot I'm talking about.

  • Fucking brilliant

  • Thanks just beautiful :) xx

  • I thought GnR did a great version of this song, but this is by far the best. Aussies rock.

  • so glad i found this. i have heard heaps of covers of this song but i think this might be the best version i have heard. these guys could show todays posers a thing or two about live music. awesome vocals and some really solid guitar riffs.well done

  • reminds me of my years living in Oz back in the 1980's ... memories of sitting on the beach drinking rocket fuels spending all night breaking all the rules... the best version of this song ever recorded, especially Jimmy Belting out his verse... awesome

  • Mal Eastick rules

  • Take a look at these dudes from the UK on You Tube.

Its a quality version of this Dylan classic

The Mighty 'S' - Knocking of Heaven's Door (Bob Dylan)

  • 6:28 shivers

  • This is one of my fave versions - just love it. Wished I had been there RIP Andy Durant

  • Fascinating stuff, dude... Poo in my shoe!

  • This is friggin AWESOME...great post...thanks for the share...*insert rose*

  • Forgive the ignorance, but who's the bloke at 3:40?

  • @Bozonofski ... Ian Moss, I believe.

  • @Bozonofski Sorry, the singer at 3:46, i'm fairly sure, is Broderick Smith (formerly of The Dingoes and Adderley Smith Blues Band).

  • The only great song that Bob Zimmerman ever wrote. Super.

  • AWESOME!

  • My favourite version always.....Andrew Durant R.I.P, never forgotten

West is the Way....North is Thunder....East is what we're running from....South is the Sea where we go under.....

  • My favourite version always.....Andrew Durant R.I.P, never forgotten

    West is the Way....:D

  • YOUR A LEGEND

  • @fendertexas why thank you fender

  • @fendertexas You're*

  • Not bad for a bunch of colonials.

  • I have never heard a version of this song that I didn't like. This has got to be the best.

  • Brod Smith = great singer

  • Go Jimmy!!! That just cements the admiration i have for his vocals, totally blows the others out of the water.

  • Who's that big boobed blonde? Awesome!

  • I remember seeing Stars at Randwick racecourse as the opening act for ELO. It was the only time I got to see them, and on that night, they were the better band...

  • @MrPiazzapizza hey I was at that gig. and I agree. they rocked. .do you recall the extra long version of Joe Walshes Rocky Mountain Way?

    and the paper airplane fight?

  • @wonsworld don't remember the paper airplanes but definitely remember their version of Rocky Mountain Way

  • What about Don Walker?

  • Fuck me !!!! I own this vinyl, video, cd, and dvd and it still blows my mind !!!

  • you can't help but get goosebumps once Barnsey opens up? Awsome!!

  • Beauty from 1980, this is what's good about you tube, shit you haven't seen for years or at all...

  • Chisels at their best.. the greatest band in the world.. there is no other that can come close.. evan 20 yrs later still gives me goose bumps

  • The best version of this song I've ever heard. Usually an ensemble of rock musicians screws up badly. This is pure magic. Thanks Budrock1 for sticking this up.

  • Recorded in Melbourne at a memorial concert in 1980. Some of Aussies finest jamming.

  • Never say never, nothing but the best. I have tears in my eyes my heart is pounding love you guy's such sweet soulful music XXX :)

  • nothin like swingshift bro swing shift was chisel in their prime n chisel only n that was the best version not this 1`

  • @mickcairns6969 yeh I agree the Swingshift version was sublime 'Chisl, the best I'd ever heard of Knockn 'n Heavnz Door from them. To cover that song as well as that indicated Chisl's class. The version here tho is as good as it gets for the stars combining. Sound quality is superb. Ian Moss was sooooo underated in Chisl, but when he went solo I didn't think he was so good, it's funny how the worm turns...I saw Chisl over here in New Zealand in '83 at Dunedin Town Hall, I had just turned 20!

  • awesome i say awesome

  • thats a shitload of talent right there !!

  • OMG I was 15 when this happened and my girlfriends and I stayed up to watch this on TV (it was in Melbourne and we were in Sydney) and we cried all the way through it. Andy Durant is missed

  • OH MY FUCKIN GOD!!!! THIS SONDS EXACTLY LIKE MY SWINGSHIFT LP! Fuck em up Chisel, these songs cant be beaten

  • auzrocks.......shit yea

  • awesome

  • Mick pealing still sings brilliant .... what a great but sad show this was be good for a 30 year reunion to raise coin for cancer research

  • Really loved that last verse with Barnsey and Renee Geyer - their voices sounded great together

  • brod smiths verse is my favourite

  • for the amount of musicians on stage that sounds pretty tight. awesome aussie talent fest

  • go moss and barnsy you legends

  • classic song of all time

  • awesome mossy & barnsey

  • GO BARNESY!!

  • Look up 1980 'Manly Vale'...fuc&&ing tops!

  • Ian moss not jimmy barnes here...

  • Jimmy Barnes is there too. Right at the front of the stage. He sings the last verse with Renee Geyer.

  • Mal Eastick and the DINGOES

    Go South Aussie boys

  • Nice Vid Dude. Where/when was this recorded?

  • Hey champ, This video was recorded in melbourne at the palais in 1980 at the andrew durant memorial concert... Great concert... You shpuld also you tube the band STARS.. The band andy durant was in.. Last of the river boats is a classic

  • Great Moss work again! Thanks for posting!

  • Mal Eastick was the lead guitarist in that clip. One of the world's best guitarists. Yes, along with Mossy too!

  • Yes, completely different styles. I enjoy both for different reasons. Mal is such an enthusiastic guitarist, really good to watch

  • 2 great solos in that vid, I love Ian's tone and feel, he just has it!

  • Mal Eastick is still a powerful axeman....he plays Lenny, the SRV piece with more heart and feeling than SRV himself

  • I would love to hear that! Where should I look?
