  • Great tutorial and visuals. Thanks for sharing.

  • I am trying to learn to use the shuttles with combined hooks, but I always find that they slow me down, as the hook gets caught in the thread and flirts from my hand. This makes me very cross! :-( When I pick up my old Milward shuttles again, my tatting flies along!

  • I think she explains this very well. I want to make an observation about shuttles though. If you have a shuttle with a point/pick/hook on it you can do this without dropping the shuttle. Her shuttle obviously doesn't have this, which some people prefer, and then they use hooks like she does. :)

  • To ssevibubu,

Yes, it is the second half of the double stitch that makes the first half come into the correct position.

  • Thank you very much for your great teaching!!!

Let me say just a few words about the method (sorry for my English):

I realized that you actually rotate the first knot (the first part of the double stitch) with 360 degree (from top to front then from front to bottom then from buttom to back then from back to top), and that is the way you get the correct position of the first knot. :)) This rotation happens when you pull the second loop from front to back and to top.
