Actually Capcom screwed up with X6, the game series ended at X5 because if you notice Zero at the beginning of Zero 1, hes half destroyed and at the end of X5, he was blown up to pieces.

Also the capsule to where he rests at the end of X6, Capcom tried to link it to Zero 1 but failed because of multiple reasons, one Inafune said it ended at 5, 2 the beginning of Zero 1, hes in the state he was at the end of X5.

Zeros ending NEVER set up events for the MMZ series, it messed up everything.

Zero's ending in X6 couldn't be linked with Rockman Zero 1. Why?

The explanation is very simple: the scientist says to him that he will awake in 102 years. But in Rockman Zero story, Zero sealed himself FOREVER. He didn't want to awake nevermore for world's sake, because he was the carrier of the virus.

Capcom failed with that.
