It would make sense. This sound first sounded in StarCraft, terran academy (If I'm not right, correct me). When I played HL2 and heard Fast Zombie, I had kinda deja vu, I wasn't sure why. But now, after watchin' this vid, it makes perfect sense... lol

Maybe you were thinking StarCraft 2 : Wings of liberty.

Wings of Liberty is the 1st SC expansion. It includes the terran campain. There will be Heart of the Swarm for zerg and another for protoss.

@nadjibmka That's a program called Audacity. It works and it's free. I first got it to rip the chiptunes from an old DOS game running in an emulator.

This sound effect is called the "wilhelm scream"

It has been used so many times that sound designers actually use it as a sort of inside nerd joke amongst ourselves. Heard as bugs dying in movies (pitched up very high) zombies getting shot and other such thing. Just youtube it, its also in starwars when a stormtrooper gets shot

@SuperDooperChan Yeah, but I think this is the higher pitched "godfrey O scream" used repeatedly throughout hit movies such as Water Earth, and Devil May Sob. In fact they used this lowered in pitch for the lost chime.

That scream is on Premier Edition, Disk 13, track 44. A sound effect library disk. Most of Valve's SFX come strait off disks without much alteration...a practice I generally frown upon, but it works very well in their games, so I don't complain. So no, they did not steal anything. Yes, they designed it to fit the game, so they did sound design it. And yes, I am a sound designer for games, so I know what I'm talking about. :D

@EvilKris Actually, copyright infringement is impossible with a sound byte, it is only a suable case if one used a composed sound file such as music. Recording an audio file for a small bit of a game is perfectly legal.

It was used in Jackie Chan's The Medallion. About an hour and 6 minutes in when the medallion is ripped off his body by the evil guy. I heard the sound and immediately recognized it since I was so traumatized in Ravenholm.

I doesn't really matter because sounds get recycled all the time. Most video games have a scream ripped right of a movie as well. So i guess this video doesn't matter.
