The crazy thing about the whole Doug Brien thing was that he missed 3 FG's in the final 2 mins/O.T. of the game! OY VEY was that tough to deal with but I guess that's why they're the "Same Old Jets"
I don't have time to rehash the whole thing but everyone knows Herm blew that game.
No one in the history of that Stadium had made a field goal that long -- and rather than run for a couple more yards and get closer, Herm sat on the ball at the end and left it up to him to hit a longer-than-necessary FG.
Don't you read the papers or listen to sports radio?
Ok I understand that but homefield and beating the Jets twice in the same year don't mean that they wouldve beat them a third time. The Jets "couldve" beaten the Pats that year because the Jets had a lot of momentum and they were playing great in the playoffs until the those missed field goals. They were clearly the much better team than the Steelers in that game.
you said "would" have went to the Superbowl. Sorry to say, NOBODY was beating the Patriots that year.
f the Jets still lost to the Steelers and the Patriots out and out blew the Steelers away....what would the Patriots have done to the Jets, beat them by 30?
Well the rookie Ben Rothlisbergur threw a lot of int's against the Pats in that game which resulted in a blowout.
The Jets always play the Pats tough so I believe that if they played the Pats that year; win or lose, the game would have been close, but its whatever, it's in the past now.
@cuso47...honestly Im a Steelers fan and I hate that guy also....I wished he would of just made of those damn kicks so I didn't have to get my heart ripped out my those SCUM cheating ASS pats in the AFC Title game.... that was a hell of a game though....one of the classics for sure...when the Jets beat the Pats last year that was GREAT...sucks fo you that the Steelers had to beat the Jets again...LOL
Forgot '81 too, where they finally made it back to the playoffs for the first time since '69 only to lose on a heartbreaking interception to the Bills.

I don't care, the Jets would have went to the superbowl that year in 2004-2005.

nevermind the fact the Patriots beat them twice in the regular season and would have had homefield in the AFC Chamspionship game...

Skipped over a few playoff seasons. They made it more than this video indicates. Off the top of my head, '85 and '91.
