Raiden may have been a cool cyborg ninja in this one, but in MGS2 he actually had good character development. Here he just whines about his life the whole time. Yes, his story arc is rather emotional the FIRST time you see it--but when you really listen to what he and Snake are saying, it's bad writing. Half of it is a bunch of pseudo-poetic metaphors. It also undoes his perfectly good redemption at the end of MGS2--and it's all because of the Patriots, who Snake and Raiden don't even mention.

@Envy987001 I'm not sure that interpretation makes sense. Raiden's fighting against Liquid, and defeating Liquid would preserve the Patriots. Raiden seems to be giving into living a "proxy life" in the Patriots' plot to use Snake and company against Liquid. In MGS2, the tragic reality of being forced to kill Solidus, who was fighting a greater evil, was pretty well done. In MGS4, preserving the Patriots just seems an inconvenience, which is spared us by the last-minute virus that destroys them.

@Envy987001 But my biggest problem with Raiden is that he's just a stubborn jerk in MGS4. He's COMPLETELY forgotten EVERY lesson he learned about life in MGS2--and for no good reason. He wasn't sympathetic for me; he was annoying (more so than in MGS2) since his drama consists of little more than "No, I can't go back to Rose because I'm a cyborg now!". And how does he overcome this over the course of the fight against Liquid? He doesn't. Seeing his son is what changes him, at the last minute.

Mei Ling sounds more "American" then in the original MGS in 1998, it's awesome to see all the characters with the CGI graphics. My head would have exploded if they had this game back in 98.

The part where Raiden grabs snake and says "I have no family!... I have nothing! is the best part IMO. The way the voice actor says those few words along with the music in the background really sums up Raidens character very well. After he says that it makes me think of his past and how he really has never had a real family. Many people don't like this part of Raiden's character but I think it is very well done. MGS4 is amazing.

Any madman with some cash could have found it, reassembled it, and launch a nuke wherever he pleased. This is just one of many plot holes in MGS storyline. But I guess it's this kind of quirky ridiculousness mixed with dead seriousness that makes MGS so charming.

I'm pretty sure the technical term "dub" is defined by replacing audio in a particular recording / video. In this case, I think stealthbrawl is assuming that the lag occurred when they dubbed the Japanese version to make the characters speak English. I don't think that's the case, though, because in another user's clips, there was no delay in the audio. I'm pretty sure it's just the method that this user uses to record that video that is the cause of the delay.

"Sorrow"has had the most similar sound and feel but I don't think it's got that part that's in this scene. Same thing with "Violent Ceasefire". Unfortunately, it may not be contained in any of the tracks. But chack those as I may have missed it in there. It sounds like it really could be in "Sorrow" but I didn't hear that exact part.
