its ashame, jeet kune do is not suppose to be this, or that, or a style, its main purpose is to open up the students mind to what works for him...bruce states this in his book...this sifu's jkd is what works for him...it might not for you but for him...sp dont say this is not real jeet kune do if you do you are going against what bruce stood for...a way with out ways...style with out a style...be water my friends.
I think that Paul Vunak taught a 2 day course or something after which he certifies the students to teach his system.
It's Vunak's fault (great fighter that he is) that he sold his own soul for money, and now schools are popping up all over with instructors who are more or less complete beginners and that quote his name as their instructor
@tsi2568 what are talking about his orginal methoed consisted of modified western boxing, wing chun and fenceing that was the original jkd system as he first taught to his students. Then later he began to look into other arts only useing what is practical and effective to later combine with his original idea.which in turn made him a well all around fighter.
I don't understand how you can eb under 'Paul Vunak' and be such a poor instructor.. going by what you're saying and doing on this video, it suggests you really aren't grasping anything Bruce Philosophised about..
I hope you keep training and one day you will understand i'm sure.
Pt.1 The centerline is a concept developed first in Wing Chun. It is an imaginary vertical line dissecting the opponents vitals. Basically its a line that runs from the top of the head down to the groin (the middle of the body). A horizontal line is sometimes also called the centerline. It runs from the midsection of one opponent to the other.
Pt.2 The idea behind all this is that if you disrupt your opponent's centerline (i.e. move him off of his while keeping your own stable) you will control the fight. Its a philosophy of balance. But dont try to learn it from these guys. There are better qualified JKD instructors who can show you the brilliance behind this concept. Check out Jerry Poteet, Octavio Quintero, Tim Tackett, Bob Bremer, Jeremy Lynch, etc.
have you ever fought a guy bigger and stronger than you in a real fight? If so, how did you handle it and what did you do? And what is it that most people try to do to you in a real fight like do they try to take you to the ground, overpower you or what?
@dylanbrandonwalsh if you want to fight someone stronger than you keep in mind there are a few problems the less talent you have the more power and size matters becaues thats all you have you have no talent thats why people in school are so scared to fight bigger people but people in martal arts are a littel more like size dont matter. but i know the tirck i grow up as a short kid fighing bigger people and most of the time i won easy
I am only able to practice at home at this time by myself. How do I know that what I practice at home will work on the street? What can I do at home to make sure that it is practical in a real life situation?
What are some ways to increase speed if you only practice tkd at home, what is the best way to fight a person bigger than you, and how do you keep a person from taking you to the ground? Thanks
well to increase speed you can practice kicking driils . and the best way to fight a person bigger than you is go for pressure points like eyes groin, legs knees trought. and how to keep you not going to the ground its occupied center line thats in jeet kune do tho i dont know about tae kwan do hopfuly this helps you

It's a nice video. Like Bruce Lee said, "speed is more improtant than power in a real fight".
@ selinah3: Bruce didn't use any boxing punches in real fights, just in films.
tsi2568 1 year ago
your doing wing chun punches bruce lee used more of his punches from boxing .make sure you snap your punches at the end of the strike

what do you mean by "center line and speed?" What is that? I know what speed is but what is "center line?"
