you mentioned before that you've purchased goldfishes from (buygoldfishonline) i was just wondering if they are good quality? im thinking about buying 2 ranchus but im afraid they won't be TRUE ranchus, because i've gotten ripped off before buying online, where i bought a ranchu but they sent me a lionhead instead. thanks and hope to hear from you.
@mikeydude319 I don't actually like albinos - this is a different mutation. I have bought from them before, however. Thanks for the suggestion though.
@irishtosakin She was about 160$ actually... but sadly.. she passed away recently from a strange infection.... I was VERY VERY SAD :( she was so beautiful.... I've always had good luck saving any of my fish from illness but I don't know what happened to her. It was so sudden that I suspect it was an underlying condition. So now... sadly... there is one less Lemon Ryukin in the world :(
@TechnoTina56 THANK YOU!!! Well, the secret to keeping the water clean is simply not overstocking and not changing the water too often. It's basically a small ecosystem and though they are not capable of fully functioning in captivity without EVER being cleaned, you need to be careful not to overclean because it kills the good bacteria that helps keep the tank healthy ^_^
@Robomonkey5000 Moores are prone to fungual infections, and eye cloud, and often get these and Ich from petshops, etc. Make sure when you buy one that you check for any discolorations of the scales, eyes, etc. They should be a subtle black or bronze tone with no white, grey, cloudiness, etc. :) Good luck!
I love it. :). They look very happy! But one suggestion: from the night tank video, turn off the lights at night. It's pretty, but some goldfish like to "sleep." It looks kinda funny. :P
@Pop12646Okami HI, I always shut off the lights... this is just a video of my tank in the dark... not really "at night". I know my fish need to rest too.... ^_^
@alizcool1 Thanks!! She is very gorgeous in person - only problem is - she has a case of swim bladder (an uncurable stomach problem that causes them to have issues swimming sometimes) ... and the males in my tank seem to pick on her sometimes.. which sucks, btw... otherwise, she is very awesome!!! :) I actually just got a new fish - "Elvis" - he's even bigger than her. So I will upload a video of him soon I hope too.
@RyukinPrincess Can't wait to see that! :) let me know when you put it up. I wish I could keep fish the way you do! I've only got 1 goldfish left and I think she will be dead soon aswell :(
@RyukinPrincess they are not bullying her, but probably trying to encourage her to spawn her eggs ^_^ hehehe...and also, did u give her some peas? this will help with swimbladder...^_^
@JKDspirit Yes, I know this already. Hence why I said "The males" are picking on her. I know allllllll about the spawning issues with goldfish. Some caes of swim bladder can never be cured - i've done tons of research and tried everything so I'm just dealing with it. I tried peas, etc. But thank you anyway for the suggestions.
@JKDspirit Gawd... since the day I got her in the mail..... last year. I've had other fish with it all I can really do is just try to alleviate it, but since it's chronic swimbladder, it's going to be there forever. From now on, though, I really only buy fish from breeders who offer videos of them beforehand - this way, I can tell if they will be prone to it before making the investment.
@JKDspirit I don't buy from local (US) fish shops because of all the inbreeding and bad quality /ill fish. This is why a lot of people have issues with their fish also, because they get bad quality ones to begin with. Even from good / reputable breeders, you can get junk, sometimes, though even. It's hard to find nice quality fish.
I recently started my gold fish hobby, and I was wondering how do you tell good potential fins from mediocre. ( Want to raise them to adulthood myself.)
@LinesOfNines Adulthood could be up to 30 years :) But anyway, unfortunatly, with goldfish, getting "good finnage" is very difficult. I've purchased from the top breeders and still not gotten anything "perfect". I'm guessing perfect fish would cost up from 300-400$. ANYWAY, good finnage would be described as Full, straight fins without curls, bends and kinks. (Often the tails will curl on the edges) this is VERY VERY COMMON. Even and full length on both sides of the fish.
