Listen to the drums and bass at mm18. Yes you can play straight thru that section, we chose to accentuate the half notes in the bass, however the pulse remains the same throughout that entire section. Think of the 9/8 as triplets within that section.
I have going thru this chart and I am a bit confused on the chart at measure 18. Does the band play the half notes hits on the bottom of the staff or the dotted quarters on top? how would you count that and can I play a straight nanigo beat thru that?
Also where it goes into 9/8 is very difficult too. advice on that?
