  • Sounds fucking killer man. Fuck the haters.

  • Great job! I'm just learning the song now and this lead is one of the hardest I've ever attempted. I'd like to jam to your backing track if you don't mind emailing me at tommazzzz@aol.com. Thanks again. Rock on!

  • Awesome video man and great tone too... I am almost getting there with mine too,. check my vid out some time

    /watch?v=onOiP3l0WyI&

  • Good job dude!!! Many people can play Stevie´s stuff quite ok, but you have a good groove!

  • AWESOME AWESOME job!!!

And thank you for putting it out there, man!!

  • GREAT JOB...a real compliment to SRV!

  • Don't listen to the haters and trolls man - great job! Love it!

  • good job man, really good, yeaaaaa !!!

  • Ignore the naisayers, excellent job in technique and tone. SRV is one of the most difficult players to replicate in both those catagories, and you nailed them! Nice work my friend...

  • Baibe!

  • are you using a tube screamer? what amp as well?

  • fuck those hater.. you rock man, hard stuff to play...

  • Nice Tone! if you pulled the crunch back a bit it would be perfect!

  • great tone! Well Done.

  • amazing

  • Awesome job man!

  • Great stuff man!

  • what amp u using cuz that is one tone

  • awsome playing, but im not really to learning stevies actual solos, i like to just improv and jam out the solos myself

  • Awesome tone!! Loved it!!!!!!!!! What is your set up here?

  • Awesome tone!! Loved it!!!!!!!!!

  • I cant say anything :) good playing good groove backin' :)

  • @LOLBram71 couldn't agree more ;)

  • @n0tan0therguitarist Lowkey, I think this was awesome! When I close my eyes and listen to it, you pretty much have it almost note for note. You did amazing; I've learned most of the solo by ear but you can bet I'll watching this to fill in my gaps haha. Excellent job man! Btw, sick Strat! John Mayer is my favorite artist; I'm going to watch him for the 3rd time in Vegas with Keith Urban at the end of this week! (4.30.11) So that Strat (+ his Black1) are Golden to me. Again, great job!

  • @LOLBram71 ...indeed but it sounded great ;) ..... and besides that if SRV would cover anyone who posts on youtube, even something from the worst player ever, it would sound different.... would that mean that SRV would be a bad player ? =P

  • @LOLBram71 Where did he say anywhere that he was comparing himself to SRV? This is an excellent example of fantastic guitar playing. You should keep the negative comments to yourself.

    Great video man nice playing,

  • You wanna get together and play a blues show? Let me know. Good playing brother!

  • @Andy152R Haha, sounds like fun. Though i'd have to hitch hike my way to the states unfortunately :)

  • @n0tan0therguitarist lol its the age of internet. Just record to the track and e-mail it. :)

  • That was awesome man! I just started to learn the song yesterday, not even close to that, still very, very rough!

  • @cbrown39xl Still reckon this solo is one of Stevie's best. Best of luck getting it down, if you are used to playing with a metronome may i suggest you slow it down as much as possible. Aim to squeeze out as much feel as you can :) Feel free to drop me a line as to how you're going with it.

  • That was awesome man! I just started to learn the song yesterday, not even close close to that, still very, very rough!

  • Dude teach me!!! Please sensei!!!!!

  • that a squire vibe 60`s?

  • 64,600 viewer! Great solo by the way.

  • I'm sorry how can anybody in their right mind not like your playing??? Thanks man that was amazing playin and great camera set up - I am tryin thanks to your vid. Stevie leaves us with such spirit in his songs they are so uplifting

    Merry Christmas

  • good work. if i could say anything about it its that it sounds kind of metronomic. loosen up a little bit on the timing

  • very good!!

  • Sits right in the groove, best cover I've heard

  • man, did I tell you you rock man?

  • Very well played. Your skills are amazing. The solo you did on top of this backing track, not Tightrope but the funk solo in b I think, wouldve matched perfectly in my ears, with Tightrope. Amazing playing.

  • yup looks right to me...the attack is off, but nobody ever sounds exactly like another artist. Nicely done.

  • Sounds amazing!!!

  • amazing!!

  • great tone love the backing track too! Keep on jamming

  • it was this solo on ACL that made my head turn to SRV....

no other player has made such an impact on me!! Such a performance from a man and his love...

    cheers

  • good god almighty thank you for giving us stevie ray vaughan! that was awesome

  • whoever is in this video, let me know if you want some of my pickups I build..Eastgrove pickups...there is a video of a ukranian playing them if you search eastgrove on youtube. the guitarist on this video plays the way my pups sound.

    thanks,

    Pete

  • awesome job dude. Very good

  • Nailed it! Well done!

  • that sound incredible. nice job!

  • can I get the tabs?

  • this is amazing sir!!! i wouldnt have reali`zed if this was the original or not. may i ask how you record this? i have a line 6 gx but i cant get a boosted sound like that. when i turn the volume up it becomes distorted. any help pls?

  • YAY!!!!! BLUES!!!!

  • looks like its sped up.

  • Very nice man! That's my favorite Stevie's solo, I think the live version in Austin (!989) was his best performance ever.

  • Dude, that was perfect man. I thought it was impossible to cover a SRV so perfect.

    Your prove me wrong sir!

  • Tempo is too slow, instead of string bending the notes, try sliding the notes.

  • what setting are you using on your line 6? i need that tone

  • killer tone

    whats your secret?

  • @kemo112205 Yeah that is rather spot on SVR. How did you get that Fender Strat to sound so much like Stevie? I know he was a Strat player for the most part, but he got a tone just a little deeper than most Strats you hear.

  • @boblackey1 Thick strings dude.. He had his guitar set up like a bass.. Bass frets, very heavy guage strings, and higher action. All this gives it a more deep sound, but it reeks havoc on your guitar.

  • @hvrock13 Thanks for the info. And a good job. I remember reading that Stevie used heavy strings for a guitar. And now I know why his main stage guitar looked so beat up. But I like those old beat up looking Strats. Others have used beat up strats and usually when a man is playing one, he is a good player.

  • Very tight. Nice.

  • ironically his life performance of this absolute shat on the studio version, usually it's the opposite. surely the greatest LIVE player ever, in terms of stage prescence

  • Hell yeah! Austin City Limits was the one i think you're talking about. Blows my head off every time.

  • sensational tone man!!!

  • Really excellent, great take on this solo, thanks for posting, helps a lot.

  • We play that song in my band, but i always suck on that solo, but now i can learn it by watching youre video, thanks man... Could you send me the backingtrack as well?

  • anyway you can send it?

  • i can when you send me an email address :)

  • do you the whole backing track?

  • i have a copy of the whole backing track

  • Class job, been trying to get this to fit for ages but you wipe the floor! Get the whole song up some time!

  • Nice work but that backing music was Lame!

  • not bad, good feeling, but try to get the rhythm more similar to SRV. The original is more with offbeat-sixteen-notes. I would get a SRV Model the next days! I would also try to play the solo.

    Good Job, man

  • what guitar is that? lovely

  • fender strat squier i have the same one

  • It's a fender John Mayer strat.

  • very very cool !!!!!!!!!!!

  • good job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Just amazing!!!

  • Amazing....Stevie would be proud.

  • i play the guitar too and its so fun play blues solo, so fuckin intense feeling, i love it

  • Man you make it look sooooo easy .

  • oooo0000OOOOOh veeeeeeeeery nice! Good work fella!

  • Da'yum.

  • Awesome!

  • Great!

    Yeahhh!! :)

  • awesome job man!! SRV would be proud indeed!!

    keep it up man

    peace

    connor

  • Any chance of a slower version of it please? Even just the video slowed down, as it's hard to tab from something this fast imo.

Hey, or you could just save me time and send me the tab but erm, i guess probably not.

  • Victory!

  • The sickest solo cover I've ever seen. 10/10. Super!

  • Perfect cover! 5/5

  • wow...that was sweet

  • OUTSTANDING!!!

  • Excellent!!!

    Grandma mary

  • whoa. not half bad!

  • damn! nice job!

  • Perfect execution !!

    Exactly a 1000% accurate SRV play !!!

  • never as accurate as SRV........ but there's no harm in giving it a good go!

  • I could watch this all day

  • good job

  • loved it!

  • Man, take a look in the Sweetpotato Slim's youtube videos...

You'll like... He also play blues in the guitar as well...

  • Hi man, love your vids! Where do you get these backing tracks from? 5 stars from me man!

  • Awesome dude!

    You really know your stuff!

  • Totally awesome!

  • How do you play guitar like that because it is amazing? I suck at guitar and I have four of them. I tried playing guitar forever and I just can't seem to do any good. That strat is sick. I have one that is maroon with a white pickguard. Great guitar.

  • You WILL get better and eventually good if you put in the hours!

  • Hi Dave

could you record another tightrope version's more slowly for beginner like me !

it will be a great lesson in tribute to stevie...

    thxs for your music

is that your guitar an squier?

  • its a mayer signature strat

I'm pratising this solo now... and thanks to this video it is going easier

    thanks, Grtz Gyo CC!

  • wow nice what effects do you use?

  • awesome video man, your tone is amazing. Love this song just in the middle of learning it or trying too anyways, you ever thought bout doing lessons on here ?

  • Hi Jimmymay, thanks for checking out the vids. I'm planning a few lessons and putting and will be throwing down some new original blues tracks too. Again, thanks for your interest :)

  • You want the Tightrope backing used here? I've got another full length version too. If you're interested let me know your email address and i'll send it to you.

  • sounds great! are you using a roadhouse strat?

  • Nope. Using the 'John Mayer' signature strat. Very happy with it.:) Though i do prefer the feel of my Les Paul.

  • Sounds pretty good! Thanks for sharing such a nice work. ^^

  • Beautiful!! ohhh that TONE...Could you help another SRV/Strat fanatic out??? I have nearly the same setup as you right down to the POD vs. 2.0. Please, if you have a moment let us know what your settings are (Amp/Cab/Efffects). If you're holding out for compensation, name it. Tone is everything, as you well know.

    THANKS!!

  • I'll have to open up the pro tools session and have a squiz. Not sure off hand. I was running everything through an avalon pre which made everything sparkle if i remember correctly! I will get back to you.

  • Thank you so much! I particularly like this post because your audio is so clear. Plus, just some tones have a certain "ring' that is magical. Hope I can duplicate!!

    Cheers.
