It's connected to a compressed air line. I just wonder about lubrication. There are moving parts and no oil sump or exhaust which would imply a spray of oil in use. Very pretty design though. It is quite similar to the rotary engines on the WW2 airplanes. Our fathers were smart cookies.
@Geoffrey2410 Absolutely! Well so is this chap, at :26 he is machining brass/bronze, which when made right makes a wonderful bearing surface even when dry. The cyls pistons and most important goodies are brass. a light lube, or waxy based stuff works well in some applications. fantastic work, TEM and excellent question Geoff!
rotaries were used in the first world war...radials dominated in the second world war.
