I am so sick of people hating on Labelle because she happens to have a powerful instrument and knows how to use it! If those other "singers" had the ability to move mountains by simply opening their mouths, they'd do it every chance they got! The music industry is full of divas and the competition is fierce. The name of the game is "SING YOUR FACE OFF AND BE MEMORABLE!" LaBelle does just that evey time she hits the stage. Maybe if the other artists would step up she wouldn't stand out.

@GospelAccording2ME It's not just that she has a big voice which she does have. The problem is she tends to go screamy and obnoxious. That's why I have mixed feelings about her singing. She can be amazin when she's not being over the top.

In this performance however i liked her attitude. She outdid all the attention seekers :)

I was so upset Cyndi had gotten ill & you can literally see the great singers looking at Patti's strange eruption that doesn't go with the song at all & thinking "cut her mic". from the point she went ballistic & lost control of the mic it was bad. She did the previous bridge part of Cyndi's quite nicely, it's just that part at 3:35 on she was so out of place & made the song about her, but in a bad way to where it didn't sound right. Ha!

I have heard that Ms. Patti has a octave range of 5 thats not true at all. Ms. Patti have a range of 6 and that six is a whistle. I was able to see her live just the other day and she ripped over the rainbow off the rictor scale she can blow. She was so powerful the lady that was beside her all she could do was back up and wave her hands. She then stated it felt like a thunder of angels singing powerful at once.

After watching all of the versions of We are the World, I thought that Patti Labelle should have been a soloist on all three versions including the Clinton concert!! (In addition from the artists in this video that should have been at Clinton with Patti include Mick, Tina, Peter, Paul, and Mary!!)
