I like this but most of the time I just wanna hear grooves. I only want to hear chops if they are contributing to, or moving in and out of grooves. However the flash he does with the stick twirls and cymbal work was incredible. Mad respect for that. Oh, that heartbeat is sick!

@nastymonster I understand your logic; I personally am not a fan of triggers either because they essentially defeat the purpose of the drum kit. I kinda figured however if a kit could project, have nice a attack and sound good at gigs such as this, triggers wouldn't be needed. Come to think of it though, I have a feeling that Eric's kick in the video isn't triggered. It sounds similar to Lars Ulrich's kit in ...And Justic for All. Triggers were not big then. The kick might be tuned really low.

@nastymonster The kick has to be triggered in most live situations. The kick happens to be miked as well to capture the fundamental low end. In a huge room like that, the initial attack is required for the audience to hear the kick without all of the hits blending into each other. If you took the trigger off, you wouldn't hear the bass drum if you sat in the audience.
