i love this song. it's my favorite stp song by far but it sucks that they never play this song live. there is not a single video on youtube of them playing this. it's such an incredible song, i don't see why they don't play it at every show.
what i love about stp is all there music changes with each ablum, they play with there hearts, they put what every happens in there life in each ablum. they caught the worlds ear with there early ablums and opened up to all who listens. real musicians
@aHorseWithNoName88 i couldn't agree more man, i feel the same way about STP...the mark of a great band is those who don't necissarily sound the same from album to album but improve with each release.
I'm so glad I finally bought their whole discography. I've been waiting to hear Shangri-la Dee Da and No. 4 for a long time. I don't know why I didn't look up the songs =/
@wellisaythat dude, be thankful God blessed you with some taste and style and leave the fucktards to fuck tards. i cannot understand whats not to love about this band, this song, or ALMOST every other song this band has put out. there are only less than a hand full of songs of theirs that I cant listen to all month long. but the rest?? damnn.. the fuckin band is legendary. across time and genres
@sstoicc I just want to tell you how perfect I find your comment. I LOVE most STP songs and I LIKE nearly all of their songs. I can't really say that STP has ever created a song that I "hate." And I concur...this band is so diverse and legendary. I can see these guys gaining an even stronger following when all of us are long dead. It is too bad that it takes death for the most beautiful art to truly be appreciated.
Are the cool kids over dope yet? Great song (it really is) but man am I over spoiled whiny millionaire rock stars squandering their lives over junk and setting an example for the generations. nowhatimsayin? I saw Scott and STP in concert in 1996 and he looked like a friggen smacked up disaster. Crawling around the stage like he was seaching the carpet for lost dope. Hope he got better.
Really shows the diversity of S-T-P and this song refers to Scott's love of heroin. Their lyrics have to be some of the deepest and poignant in rock music, check out Big Empty, the lyrics allude to the hollow feeling one feels after going without something one is addicted to, be it a woman or a drug ... cleverly done !
So beautiful - I loved the Mamas and the Papas when I was a kid - this gets to that level of delicious harmony - plus a little of good old Glenn Campbell flavor that the DeLeo Boys love.
@zebrasmusic2121 I completely agree with. The best thing about this song is the simplicity of the lyrics. Simplicity is the only way to go!!!! The more you add, the more you are taking away!!!
Reminds me of R.E.M. a little, i wonder if Scott liked them.

I like the perspective this song emulates.
Everyone knows this song is about Heroin.
But you figure it's written like I (Scott) got you (Heroin.).
After you listen a while, you realize it's actually I (Heroin.) got you. (Scott.)
Classic. The awesome 6 string bass doesn't hurt, either.
