  • Bist Du Bei Mir was composed by Gottfried Heinrich Stolzel, contemporary of JS Bach, for musical theater. It is often mistakenly credited to Bach. The Swingles arrangement and reharmonization is the work of Jonathan Rathbone. I think the best recording of it was done in the 80s when Rathbone was M.D. and singing bass with the group.

  • Beautiful harmonies of which Bach himself would have been proud.A truly worthy addendum to Riemenschneider's 371.

  • Whichever the century or the style of music; Bach is so perfect; He could be played or sang all around the world.. in all the styles, and instruments you could imagine! .His strenght: His Faith in God; undoubtly; He was able to reach the heaven, and bring us back a little bit of what he could have heard. Anna -Magdalena wrote that during the night, her husband woke up often, and wrote the most beautiful music, and tears were falling down on his cheeks at this moment..Francois.
