He dose quite amazingly with the 1040's American accent. His real accent is a fairly thick Scottish one. It doesn't show though. Very awesome job. So sad he's character dies.:-( He looks mighty fine in that uniform. :-)

It's because when he's all clean shaven like that, he looks so young and innocent with his big adorable eyes that you instantly sympathize with him and want him to do well. That's ideal for a short but impactful part like this, where they want the audience to connect with him quickly.

I always find it most sad when the stories of soilders are so short. Not just because they died but they barely made it there and then died, so young. Sad.
