@scrm1 No. The only abuse I had was from my brother and he is not gay.... As for it being common, I would say it is not, but I do know of one such case where a guy did that to his son. But maybe it is more common in whatever area that the author of that report/ comment lived at, but not exactly as common in my area, if that makes sense...

Hey, I like your insight. And with all due respect You don't seem to understand Mormon's well. We don't have multiple wives. That was a group called the FLDS. they are religous fanatics. They are like a rip off sect. And we have the Bible and The Book of Mormon is like a testament. In our view it is basically a missing tetament like the New and Old testaments. I don't know why you say that, I just said that I was referring to the FLDS, which were in the news at the time I made this video. I may not be the most educated about the Mormons, but I do know the difference between the FLDS (the ones I was referring to) and the LDS (modern day Mormons).

My husband family's back ground is Amish and I'm a Mormon and we are big on having a family tree. But when I was working on his family tree with him we got lost with the Amish History. The a from Penn could you please tell me if they have a history family dept online with the Amish so I can find his family and put them in the family tree. Thanks wasnt sure if you knew this.

We live in a highly populated amish area in NW pa.We know a lot of Amish and as we have lived here for 4 yrs we are slowly discovering a double standard of Amish and English.Example.We have a really good young man who was helping us and one day decided to cut down a fairly large tree when we were not home.His dad brushed us off , said he would make no amends,banned the him from comming to our house and said there is a double standard.We never made this young man feel unwelcomeed or mistreat him

The tree had some brown leaves on it and I had a pine tree like this before.His dad said it was sick and needed to be cut down.My wife and I said not to do anything untill next spring.Certain species of these pine rebound.Since he is in rumspringer we know he has been dninking wine.We keep our house unlocked in this area as most do.I dont drink nor does my wife.Wine is for cooking.Wine is missing.We think hes drinking but not going to say.Were puzzled dad may be covering.we dont want bad blood

In such a tight knit community, how hard is it finding a mate? It would seem that you would know all the same people in your age group your whole time growing up and not finding anyone new. is that right or do the amish make ways of being able to meet others in yor age group?

For me I would have had to go outside of the area (even if I was to stay Amish) to find one, as most of the people in my area were related in one way or other, and I don't believe in inbreeding. It only causes health problems with their young. I was just talking to my mom about that...

Well some do, it is interestin you ask that, cause somone recently asked me a simular question, about why it is OK to drive in a car, but not own one, maybe I'll make a video about that too! Anyway, some are living in other states like TN, and Wisconsin.

And they use grayhound busses (Swartzentrubers) and drivers (Old Orders an New Orders) to travel.

no, that would be vary dangerous, and no "slow moving vehicle" is allowed on an interstate. I think in some areas there is a min speed of 40, which most horses would not acheive even if they tried... At least not the whole time. Most would want to slow down after a while.

It's crazy that there is so much inbreeding in the Amish that there are a few genetic diseases that are rare in general but extremely rare outside of the amish community(Cohen's and Ellis-van Creveld syndrome) SIDS is also very high amongst the amish.

yes, I wish they would see it... I mean it is not like we need a "cure" among the Amish for these diseases, they just need to quit the marrying of 2nd and 3rd cousins. I guess that is hard cause all Amish are related in some way, so their young don't meet anyone who is NOT closely related to themself... I guess the solution would be allowing their young to marry outside of the Amish, but they don't want that...

just stumbled across this video... very interesting. one thing thou, about the mormons. the mormon bible is the standard KJV used by many other christian churches. they ALSO have the book of mormon, doctorine and covenants, & perl of great price.

i am a mormon so i know all this lol, and the lds church does not endorse polygamy. only fundamentalists sects who broke away from the church do.

Yes, I am aware that this is a group that broke off the main one after that main group cut off polygamy. I was part of the Swarzentrubers, which is a group of the Amish that is rather strict compared to others, but also has child abuse problems... BTW my brother's g/f was or is a mormon too, I just don't know much about them...
