Ich kann mich noch gut an das frühere Kräftemessen der Callas mit der Tebaldi. wer nun von beiden die besserer sei. Nun die Calls war eine Gesangsakrobatin,

zweifellos und ihre schauspielerische Leistung tat das übrige.. War es ein Wunder, dass man ihr huldigte. Sie sang mir zu hart - also mit ihrem Kapital, statt mit den Zinsen. Bei der Tebaldi war es umgekehrt, deshalb gefiel sie mir besser. Aber wie gesagt, meine Meinung ist nicht ausschlaggebend!

Even toward the end of her career when the voice isn't what it used to be, that cantilena- that seamless legato- transcends any of her limitations. I'd kill for what she had then for what I have now. Brava, La Tebaldi!
