The look on Gamache's face and his mannerisms when he's sitting up around 2:35 are really quite scary. I watched this fight live and felt a bit sick to my stomach seeing how much trouble he was in. It was very clear right there that he wouldn't come back from this.

I just watched Gatti v Ward which was at 141lbs, exactly the same as this fight. Gatti looks pretty much the same there as he does here. It looks so bad because Gamache is a small-looking guy for the division. If this Gatti (whatever he weighed) fought 141lb Micky Ward they'd have looked the same size.
When Gatti fought at 147lbs there was talk that he was too small! 140lbs was a normal weight for him, he probably would've dished out the same punishment anyway. I've watched the video of Gatti fighting Ruelas at 130lbs and he doesn't look that much different. If Gatti was really 160lbs here then surely he was 145-150lbs fighting Ruelas? Gamache was short for the division. If Gatti was fighting a 6 foot tall guy at 140lbs no-one would have said he looked too big?

I was at the weigh in, and it was total bullshit, Gatti was not weighed properly, and as soon as he stepped off the scale guzzeled gatoraid and couldnt be weighed again, when the Gamache camp said something about it, the commissioner told them to shut up, what not to many people know is that same thing happened with De La Hoya &Coley at that same weigh in. The cash cows were protected.

wrong; no one ever re-loaded like Gatti did for the fight before this and then this fight. in this fight (and the one before), Gatti was enormous for this division. boxing changed weigh-in rules because of this....even the announcers clear disgust is evident as it was happening (as Gatti devastates a third un-defended shot into Gamache's exposed face)......

I just watched Gatti v Ward which was at 141lbs, exactly the same as this fight. Gatti looks pretty much the same there as he does here. It looks so bad because Gamache is a small-looking guy for the division. If this Gatti (whatever he weighed) fought 141lb Micky Ward they'd have looked the same size.

When Gatti fought at 147lbs there was talk that he was too small! 140lbs was a normal weight for him, he probably would've dished out the same punishment anyway. I've watched the video of Gatti fighting Ruelas at 130lbs and he doesn't look that much different. If Gatti was really 160lbs here then surely he was 145-150lbs fighting Ruelas? Gamache was short for the division. If Gatti was fighting a 6 foot tall guy at 140lbs no-one would have said he looked too big?

this fight changed the weigh-in rules. Gatti was 15-20 pounds over the weight class for this fight, but made the weigh in after cutting a ton of weight. a few days later and rehydrated, an ~10kg heavier Gatti destroyed Gamache. total bullshit. its not a heavyweight fight where 20 pounds isnt even 8% of the their total weight and each fella has a pack of hot dogs behind their head and neck to absorb impact, its like 145 vs 165 pounds and 20 pounds is 14% of Gamache's weight.

I don't think Gatti killed himself. He's an out of towner who goes to Brazil, a notoriously corrupt country, and hits one of their female citizens in public. Why would he kill himself with her purse strap? And why was there a bloody knife on the floor nearby, with a wound to his head clearly evident? Sounds pretty fishy for a genuine tough guy.

gamache fell into a coma in hospital and almost died from brain bleeding. he had to take strong medication since cause of hard headaches. he often said he thinks about suicide cause of the pain.-he sued the athletic state commission for allowing gatti to enter the ring 19 pounds heavier than him.interesting thing is that the hearing of that trial gamache vs.state commission in which gatti was supposed to appear as well, was exactly a few days before gatti committed suicide..........fate?
