Not bad for 2009. We're doing more complicated things with VTOL, like multirotors that have all the bells and whistles now. (accelerometers, gyros, magnetometers, sonars, gps ...)
where is the battery? if u want to use it only ass vtol like helico, its better to put the batteri as possible near the ground just above the motr to displace the cg close as is possible to the groune, the auto stab effect wil be beter
Very nice rig you've made there, i like the park jet as well, if you ever do scale up in size u could possibly try using aluminum 5/8th bor air actuators to turn the fan from vertical to horizontal faster than using an oversized servo. Just a suggestion, im working on my own VTOL as well, good luck with your testing!
hey try to make another channel on your rudder stick and spin the thing when it starts to go out of control.i saw that you didnt have moving parts on the other 2 sides on the bottom
Since u tend to take stuff up on ur planes, have u thought about what VTOL will carry? The dog, maybe? Or how about ur little bro? Just strap him into a sling underneath, give him helmet and goggles and hand him a cam! (Better run that by ur mom n dad, tho).
wow it actually looks and works pretty good u should have seen what rcsuperpowers did with their so called coffee table. i would actually prefer this idea
you have made a type of ducted fan if you could build around the prop or an actual ducted fan like that but smaller you could put it in a plane with a servo so change from hover to forward flight
you need to put some kind of weight on the bottom to force it to vtol

Are you going to put the propeller in the tube to get the duct fan effect?
I believe you can get more power that way.
Try to get the propeller as close as you can to the wall.

Its weight too much. Reduce the length of yellow tube and use light weight parts. By the way great Practical.

Good job guys...uve got brains!

you could use an aux channel on the top and have it go from normal and spin that way it will still be afull functioning plane
1947mercury123 2 years ago
o realy oops sorry you shold spin it rapidly when it starts to go out of control
1947mercury123 2 years ago
I will try that but im trying to get it to hover and not spin cuz i will put that tube on a plane in the future

I am already using the rudder channel, there are elevons and rudder at the bottom.

yep congrats to u and foam and tape i was thinking of doing that lol looks like it might be a popular design for vtol
